Michael Van Clarke Hair Salon, London

I've been going to Michael Van Clarke for over three years now and one thing is for sure: the hair stylists are amazing! I've been introduced to a versatile array of hair styles that I never dreamed would suit me.

The downside is the snobbery of the reception area or the girls who shampoo. A lot of them have a huge chip on their shoulder and are very ill-mannered. I remember when I was conversing with one of the senior stylists and she and I agreed that one of the girls who was working at reception area didn't belong at MVClarke because of her bad attitude. Interestingly, she informed me that the only reason she was hired was because of her pretty looks. Very disappointing.

Would I recommend the stylists? Yes! But be wary of the overall service and don't be intimidated by ill-bred manners.

I went to michael van Clarke for the three more inches treatment and a blow dry this morning. I was in there for two hours for a 15 minute treatment because the girl blow drying my hair had no idea what she was doing. It is the first time I have ever left a hair salon with my hair looking worse than when I went in. I also felt as though I had been robbed. In fairness, £61 for a treatment isn't bad, but the £4 that appeared on my bill for "catering" (a cup of peppermint tea) was a bit annoying.

My hair genuinely does not look or feel as though it has been professionally done, which is a bit disappointing, as I am on the way to my hen party.

On the other hand, the salon environment and the attention to detail with the lighting, seating etc is excellent - the best I've experienced. The staff are all very friendly and polite, but the standard of the hairdressing is below par.

Be prepared for a snooty reception unless you look monied and dripping in expensive accessories. Expect coolness and smile free approach from your shampooist and stylist. Do not expect to get the style you asked for, or to be treated with any friendliness. If you look wealthy you're fine and fawned over. If you look like the average person willing to pay top prices for a haircut - expect them to look down their noses at you.

THE BEST HAIRDRESSER EVER. And I'm the fussiest ever so that really is saying something. This is a great experience - very professional and unusually stress-free - the first time I've actually enjoyed going to a salon. I was new to the dry cut but it really works out better as the movement and texture of your hair is worked with, and my stylist Rick really listened to what I wanted too, and because of my confidence in him I'm going shorter next time (having never trusted any other hairdresser to take more than a few inches off) I've been to the serious £ £ £ and Michael Van Clarke Hair Salon, is cheap in comparison and SO much better.

Michael Van Clarke Hair Salon - Generally I find visiting the hairdresser traumatic as I always end up disappointed with the result and thinking I can style my hair better myself. This experience was altogether different, I went in with my usual apprehension and was very pleasantly surprised. I just loved the cut and style. My stylist was amazing she was really friendly but didn't just ask me about my holiday plans; it was like chatting to a friend.

I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who is fed up of mediocre hairdressing experiences.

I absolutely loved my time at the Michael Van Clarke salon in Marylebone. I was treated like royalty. I have never gone to the hairdressers on a regular basis as I feel uncomfortable and self conscious when I leave . On this occasion I left with my head held high and wanted everyone to see my fab new look! I would truly recommend everyone to go there!

I visited Michael Van Clarke hair salon in London, Marylebone hoping for a fresh new look. I was fed up with the cut I had and looking for some advice. When I visited the salon the service I received was much higher than my expectations I felt so relaxed after spending a few hours in the salon. The hair cut is the best I have ever had and is very easy to manage. I have never been able to create the same look at home but the great cut teamed with the advice I was given on the day has meant that I can create the same great look day after day! I will definitely be returning to the salon!
