A Great Hairdressers!
I have been going to Salon cafe in Haymarket for about 10 years and am finally getting around to give it the recognition it deserves. The place is modern welcoming and relaxed and my stylist Lorinda is excellent in all respects. She recently rescued my 13 yr old distraught daughters hair after she dyed it bright yellow. Her natural blonde colour was restored, very clever and professional. The main reason I travel 3 hours to have my haircut is because Lorinda is bloody good at what she does. I get a great haircut and a little razoring at the back. The prices are reasonable 29£ for shampoo and cut. The salon has been hit hard due to the prolonged disruption of the streets of Haymarket due to the trams works. They are a small positive team and really worth a visit.

The Online Booking System Is Fantastic. When You
The online booking system is fantastic. When you have to telephone a salon it's either engaged or you go on to voicemail in the hope that they call you back. It takes only a couple of minutes to do it online at your own leisure.
When I lived in Edinburgh Salon Cafe was my regular salon. Since moving to Canada 4 years ago the first thing I do after booking my flight to Edinburgh is go online and book my hair appointment.

Salon Cafe is situated just 2 minutes walk from Haymarket Station, and about 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh City Centre.
The salon is modern, bright and well appointed. The staff are friendly and coffee is offered. It's not cheap, and a cut and blow dry is between £30 and £40 depending upon which stylist you book.
It was my first time at the Salon, and I'd made an appointment with a Stylist/Director. After washing my hair we had a consultation about what I wanted; in this case the ends trimmed, as I was growing the existing layers out to bring it down to all one length. I also wanted something done with the fringe, as it was getting in my eyes. Nice and easy.
Sadly, my instructions were ignored, and the stylist heavily layered my hair, taking between 2 and 5 inches off of areas. Further to that I found out when I got home something just wasn't "right" about the right side.
Upon contacting the salon they did ask me to come back when convenient and get it sorted.
***Remember by now almost 4 inches had been cut off the length..when all she was told to do was trim the ends***
I also told her that the right side wasn't sitting properly, and I was sure that it hadn't been cut properly. However, she assured me everything was OK, and I just wasn't styling correctly.
Not convinced, I went to another salon the following day and paid a stylist to go through the cut and give me his opinion...
Both sides of my hair were uneven. Further to this, all the layers on the right side are shorter by about an inch than those on the left, and there are areas where my hair has been over thinned.
Not what you expect for a £40 cut and blow dry.
