The Groom's Room at Abigail's Collection, Colchester

My dress and the service from Abigail's were both amazing. Unfortunately the experience with the Groomsroom was the complete opposite. To us it seems like they are taking on too much work and simply cannot provide the service which they promise.

Despite the t&cs we signed saying suits would be available a week in advance, we did not receive ours until 72 hours beforehand. This wouldn't have been so bad, except none of them fitted. Not by a little either, they were a long way off fitting.

There appears to be a clear lack of quality control. The late rush meant that rather than the suits being perfect, we ended up with a 'that'll have to do' mentality. With 'that'll' do being a pretty low bar of just being able to do up the trousers and waistcoat. Due to the late notice in receiving the suits we had no choice.

In the pictures from the wedding it is clear that one of groomsmen's waistcoats is too short - you can see his shirt, and another's trousers are too short. My husband's trousers were probably half inch/1 inch too long but in the scheme of things we just got on with it.

This also applies to the ties. The attached picture shows that the width of the ties were inconsistent. Due to this we ordered last minute ties from Amazon which were a slightly different shade, meaning we had to forget the pocket squares - just another example of 'that'll do', rather than 'this service is value for money'.

The last issue is almost comical. On the day when we they were getting ready, a groomsmen found half of a pill/tablet in his pocket (see picture). They laughed it off but really it is pretty disgusting and makes you wonder whether the suit was even cleaned after it was last returned.

We were asked to put all of the above into an email but this has also been ignored. All we really wanted was an apology or some contact from the owner. I guess they are too busy trying to make more sales.

I must agree with the other comments its definately the best Essex has to offer for Suit Hire. I was really suprised how different shops look/ or in most cases do not look after you or a just simply useless. My Girlfriend suggested I make an appointment otherwise I wouldn't of known about the place (although they are a big shop) I hadn't really noticed they were there.

They are a really quality oufit and my experience has been second to none - I for one highly recommend the The Grooms Room at abigails Collection and give it 5 out of 5. I was really suprised that the cost was as competitive as the rest of the places out there as well and was really suprised as would have happily paid more for the quality and service received.

I have to say this shop is probably the best I have ever been in for anything never mind suits. I saw a guy called Rob who was so proffesional and bang on with his colour and style advice once I sorted out all our suits for our wedding I went back and had a made to measure suit made which is awesome.

When we booked our wedding we never thought we would end up buying our suits from the same place as the brides dress. We picked up a brochure by chance and spotted a suit we liked. Rob ordered it in especially in the grooms size for him to try on and even found a similar suit, in a different colour, for the bestman. Nothing was too much trouble. The boys were offered beers and there was sport on the tv to keep them amused. Unlike most suit hire shops we were not asked to pay a security deposit which was helpful. All the suits came with shoes, some were brand new. The late night opening of the shop meant we were able to pick the suits up one evening and were able to keep them for a whole week. The service here is fantastic and I would recommend it to all grooms out there.

What a great find... My Fiance arranged my appointment and I must admit it's the best Menswear Hire shop I've been to. I went to the other places in Colchester to try and sort out suits for our wedding and found myself thinking that they were all pretty useless. At Abigails Menswear the suits are really good quality, the shop is really smart and I was given great advice. My mates and I had a beer together during a Thursday evening appointment and they all said that this was the best place they'd been too as well. A must visit for suit hire, going again in a few weeks for DJ for works dinner. Great service and great concept.
