I've Always Been A Make Up Dunce - A Sort Of Speci
I've always been a make up dunce - a sort of special needs person when it comes to understanding make up. Hence I've never been much interested in implementing it into my daily routine. So, when it came to planning for my wedding its fair to say I was a tad concerned about organising a make up consultation - inevitably I would end up looking like a drag queen or something hideous.
Every girl wants to look nice for their wedding day - don't they?! I didn't really want the new guy in my life to think 'Goodness me - I've married a monster'I wanted him to think at the very least 'oh well - she aint that bad'
So I summoned up some positive thinking, bought Asiana wedding magazine (promptly concealed it so that no one would think I cared about looking nice) and eventually rang nearly every make-up artist in the mag. The experience was traumatic. Apparently the whole universe was getting married the same weekend I was and finding an artist even 6 months in advance was going to be tricky. The people I rang were either brusque, busy, booked up or blatantly too expensive. So I gave up hope on my seemingly unachievable objective of looking nice at the wedding.
But lo and behold - one evening I received a call from the wonderful Yanaz. She had taken the trouble of ringing back my missed call and as sickeningly sweet as it sounds - just speaking to her on the phone was one of those 'you just know its right' moments!
She was gentle, she listened and she took the burden of my make up worries onto her own shoulders so from that moment on I didn't have to worry. It was her problem now! As we discussed making an appointment - I discovered that Yana z - this Asiana Magazine professional artist was on my doorstep in . Luton of all places! I didn't have to travel all the way to London via train and underground to get to my trial, I could just walk it.
From the word go Yanaz was honest and open. She informed me that she already had a booking on my date but that her sisters Nazeen and Afjay - trained by herself would be just as able to fulfil my request to look nice. Naturally I was gutted that Yanaz had been booked already but felt that a relative of Yanaz might be just as good. If it didn't work out at the trial I knew that I wouldn't be made to feel guilty if I didn't go ahead.
The day of the trial arrived with Yanaz, Nazeen and Afjay all present. Apparently they all seemed devoted to helping me to look not half bad. Yanaz made it as much as it would be like on the wedding day - so Nazeen and Afjay did the work while Yanaz helped and directed to create a look I would be happy with. I really felt listened to. I didn't want to look fake, overdone but still bridal. I thought that the trial would be an uncomfortable experience - that things would be out of my control. Instead Yanaz and her team were just so lovely and easy to get on with. They were interested in doing their very best.
Organising a wedding can be stressful. Yanaz, Nazeen and Afjay took away the 'how do I look' stress. In the lead up to the big day and on the day itself I didn't worry one bit about getting ready - I was in safe hands. Even on the day, Yanaz made the effort to come and see me after her other booking to satisfy herself that Nazeen and Afjay had done their work well. Their work was amazing and I cannot thank them enough.
In short I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Yanaz and her team!
Q&A
Do they only do Asian make up? I'm trying to find a make up artist in Luton and their name keeps popping up.
