Don't Upgrade To Silver Account
I've been a BoS current account holder since 1987. I upgraded to a Silver Account in January 2012 after which has followed the most disgraceful customer service I have experienced from any service provider.
The Silver Account carries a monthly fee in return for AA membership, Travel Insurance, Mobile phone insurance and Card Protection.
I had cause to use the AA breakdown service around 6 weeks after upgrading, only to find I hadn't been registered with them and had to argue for over an hour with the AA and BoS customer service before it got sorted out.
Yesterday I tried to register my mobile phone details and found that me account wasn't registered with their 3rd party provider. Seems none of the benefits I'm paying for have been set up.
I was on the phone for around 45 minutes last night with no solution - passed from pillar to post and eventually told that my problem could only be dealt with by the Silver Account team, but they couldn't transfer me through because they were having issues with the phone lines and that I SHOULD CALL THEM BACK TODAY.
Called back today. Still on the phone after 50 minutes and still not fixed. Silver Account team can't help, so I'm holding for Customer Complaints.
Won't hold my breath.
Take my advice - don't bank with these jokers. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Desperately Poor Customer Service
I have been a Bank of Scotland customer since the early 1980s. Incredible. They used to be very good, but not now. I don't know if it is the Halifax merger, the troubles they fell into, the merger with Lloyds, or being in the public sector.
The customer service is TERRIBLE. Whenever there is something to action or query, however basic, my heart sinks. So many things go wrong. I know there will be problems and it will take hours and hours spent on the phone to the call centres to resolve any issue. I despair of them. Truly despair.
I've already opened a new bank account, and leave Bank of Scotland for good next week.

I Have Had A Bank Of Scotland Account For More Tha
I have had a Bank of Scotland account for more than ten years, and it was always OK. Nothing great, but no problems, which kept the hassle factor at a minimum. Since being taken over by Halifax, the service and the competence seems to have gone out of the window. The account is no better than many of the competitors, and from that point of view there are many better accounts to go for.

I Have Been A Bank Of Scotland Current Account Cus
I have been a Bank of Scotland Current Account customer for a number of years and used to be quite happy with the service although they never seemed to have the best rates.
I am now going to change my bank as the customer service has gotten so bad, it is unbearable.
You have to wait usually a minimum of 5 minutes to get through on their phone service, 20 minutes in a cue to speak to be served in their branches (once you have found one!- and that's in Scotland!) It takes them a minimum of 5 days now to send you a replacement card and when it doesn't arrive when they say it will you are simply told to chase up the agency they have now got to deliver them. And there is nothing they do that you can't get better at another bank.
- please avoid using this bank.

I Have Tried Twice Now To Get A Statement About In
I have tried twice now to get a statement about interest and tax for last tax year from the Bank of Scotland. The last time I called was almost 3 weeks ago. I phoned today and am Still waiting! I only have another 6 weeks to send my tax forms back to the Inland Revenue. Staff over the phone have been extremely unhelpful and I even tried to get it from my branch without any success. Hello people - I only want information about my account, its not rocket science!

I Wonder How Many People Reading This Review Will
I wonder how many people reading this review will click with a daily familiarity concerning the failure of Bank of Scotland ATM machines up and down the country. I live in South Hampshire and where ever I go and want to use a Bank of Scotland ATM machine, they are either broken or out of cash - for long periods. Bearing in mind the majority of ATM machines in garages in this locality are Bank of Scotland owned and managed. One garage manager (Texaco) had the machine removed and replaced with an excellent state of the art Lloyds TSB machine. Oh and another thing, can you read the tiny little screens, especially when the sun is shining on them - no chance. Come on Bank of Scotland lets have something along the lines of the new Lloyds TSB machines which have big screens, large copy, never run out of cash and are maintained daily? After all you are not exactly short of cash!!!

I Requested A Transfer Of £1000 From My
I requested a transfer of £1000 from my Bank of Scotland Current Account to my husband's account (we do this each month), they told me they'd done it. My husband then paid his credit card bill for us to find out 5 days later that they had only transferred £100. For him to get back his unauthorised overdraft charges I have to prove that I told them to transfer £100 and not £1000.
Customer services staff are undertrained on Halifax procedures now adopted.
Telephone banking staff are rude and unhelpful and unwilling to offer solutions to problems.
The phrases 'it wasn't me who dealt with that' or 'I can only apologise' are frequent.
