I Wasn't Allowed To Put No Stars

Egg Banking are the most incompetent bank i have ever dealt with. I reclaimed PPI from them and they sent me a letter to say that it would be removed from my remaining balance. It has no emerged that they never did and I have overpaid them. I have spent the last THREE months trying to get them to rectify this situation. The call centre is atrocious. I spent 40 minutes on the phone one day trying to just speak to an actual person and I couldn't get through no matter what combination of numbers I pressed on their totally inadequate phone system. I also emailed them twice and three weeks on have had no response from them. I have sent them numerous letters and only received a standard response AFTER complaining to the OFT.

I would NEVER recommend this bank as they are useless. They are quick enough to hound you when they think you owe THEM money but three months later I have had no response from them.

Avoid like the plague....

1 Star Is Too Generous

Awful customer service. A rip of wait of trying to get through by phone - i'm sure they do it to make money from the phone charges.

Dont Do It.

If you are thinking of using them, then call their customer complaints line first, when you realize they are a joke then go and get a proper bank and be grateful you found out in time. As I write this I have been waiting for over an hour. They obviously want me to hang up again.

Egg Credit Card Service

The previous owners of Egg have now sold out to Barclays.

I had a suspicious transaction on my credit card, recently.

I phoned Egg and asked them to raise a dispute and a chargeback.

They cancelled the card and sent me a new one.

The suspicious transaction was still on my online statement 2 weeks later.

I phoned again. I waited in the phone queue and, 22 mins later, they answered. They said I'd have to print off their online form and post it back to them before they'd raise a dispute and chargeback, even though I thought this was raised 2 weeks ago.

I told them to cancel my account. "I'll pass you to someone who'll do that, Sir".

Another wait (9 mins).

I told them I wanted to complain.

"I'll pass you to a colleague, Sir".

After waiting another 18 mins on the phone I gave up and rang off.

Detestable company. Never again.

Egg Card Incompetence

Some three years ago Egg did not send a replacement card to cover one that was expiring. I cancelled the account and cleared all outstanding balances on the 'phone. Over the following three years I was sent repeated email notices about my account and invited to log in, which I could not do since I had no card. I contacted them repeatedly - always speaking to someone different who had no record of previous complaints and no capacity to act or to say anything outside the stock replies. I was told that someone more senior would be in touch, but this never happened. In the meantime, one regular payment continued to made from the card, but I could not tell which (to cancel it) since I could not access my "account" online, they would not send me a printed account (which could take "a very long time") nor tell me the "confidential" details of the payment. The only way I got any rational response from them was to complain to the financial ombudsman, who (slowly) arranged a settlement and a payment in compensation. I am not confident that Egg will not continue to harass me, since one branch of the company seems to have no contact with any other.

In 40 years of dealing with various companies, this is the worst by a long way.

Do Not Deal With This Company

Absolutely horrible, un friendly and not helpful customer services. Have had a credit card x 2 and have never been able to access online statements on line. Asked on several occasions for them to put this right and they still haven't. The team have also phoned me on old numbers which I have requested to be taken off the system several times. I would never ever deal with this company again, I wish I had read the reviews first!

Set Up An Egg Savings Account And Isa About 3 Year

Set up an egg savings account and ISA about 3 years ago. The site is slow and ponderous. Their ISA rates became uncompetitive and it took weeks for the transfer to be correctly sorted out. In addition I notified them 6 months ago that their system wouldn't process payments from my bank's Mastercard debit card and it is still not fixed (even though they thought they had fixed it).

For an internet based bank to be unable to process payments from the world's major card provider (and fail to bother to fix it) is truly pathetic.

Absolutely Useless. Have Been Customers For Years

Absolutely useless. Have been customers for years (savings/credit cards/ISAs) but now moving everything.

You name it, it goes wrong and their Customer Services are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Their version of a fast pay system is days - this includes moving money between different Egg accounts as "they are not a clearing bank".

Problems as others with security of credit cards - they cancelled mine because of some security breach and didn't replace it for weeks despite various phone calls.

Have had difficulty using cards abroad - children have travelled all over the world and not had any problems with other cards it's just Egg that are beyond useless.

Can't think of anything positive to say about them anymore.

Would not give them 1 star for anything but couldn't work out how to give them nothing!

Online Banking Broke When I Bought A New Win 7 64

online banking broke when I bought a new win 7 64 bit pc & trnasferred settings with microsoft wiard. was unable to access money manager & egg tech support were clueless. then recently I disabled UAC & loat alla ccess - got the "we have reset your securit - phone us runaround. after 3 days of phone + patper chase I get it reset. works ok in Chrome, but I try it again in IE8 and am locked out again, facing another phone & paper chase.

so I email them and say that's it - just close my account - only to be told tht I have to send them a secure message! ( which is impossible as I've been locked out again. luckily I took my money out via chrome while I had things working.

I Know what will happen if I phone again - they'll ask for password, I'll explain that I no longer have one beacuse ther servers ahve cancelled it for the 2nd time - I'll be told to phone the password reset team- they'll ask for my account number & I'll explain that I can't see it because their damn computer has locked me out of the account details screen....

I've Tried To Pay My Utilities Bills Using The Egg

I've tried to pay my utilities bills using the Egg online banking system and can't. The problem is that the utility company wants online payments made to an account which has an account number of 00000000 (eight zeros) and Egg won't let you use such an account number. Egg have admitted that lots of utility companies use an account with similar numbers and the problem is "not their fault". So, if you want to pay such bills from your account (check the back of your utility bill), don't use Egg!
