Sold A Faulty Car Not Even An Apology.

FG16VXW

My experience buying a car from Evans Halshaw (Stockport)

When buying a car from a reputable dealer such as Evans Halshaw I expect impeccable professional service and honesty. This is the reason I buy from a well known dealership and not a small back street car dealer or a private sale. I would expect the car to be serviced, to have been checked mechanically and legally and to be in good working order and fit for purpose. My brother in law had recently bought a car from Evans Halshaw Northwich, he recommended them as he he had received excellent service.

I am extremely disappointed and annoyed with the attitude of the sales manager at Evans Halshaw Stockport after I was contacted by customer service who in turn contacted the manager at Stockport about my dissatisfaction with the vehicle and the handover. I did not even receive an apology from him! This is the first time I have dealt with Evans Halshaw Stockport and obviously will be the last.

When I saw the car on the website my initial plan was to look at the car at Stockport and if I liked it to have it moved to Northwich Evans Halshaw close to where I live. I was planning to tow my caravan from Northwich to Brighton on the following Monday. I was happy to use my existing car and collect the new car on my return. To allow plenty of time for servicing, valeting other checks etc.

After a viewing and a short test drive around the urban area of Stockport I indicated that I would like to buy the car. The salesman was keen to do the deal at Stockport, he explained that if I had any after sales problems they could be dealt with at any branch of Evans Halshaw so I reluctantly agreed to this.

The sales person was keen to get a quick sale 'before the end of the month – to improve my sales figures' so again, I reluctantly agreed to this. To expedite the sale he offered to deliver the car to my home so to save myself the trip to Stockport.

After taking delivery, the first time I had a proper drive of the car on a faster road ( don’t forget I had only done a test drive around Stockport urban area) I spotted a fault with the car. When driven over 40 mph under acceleration the car was shimmying side to side in a noticeable manner.

My point is that the salesman had driven the car from Stockport to my house on motorways and dual carriageways, done the handover and not said a word about the problem! It was impossible for him to not feel the vibration and shimmying on the car when driving all that distance.

As soon as he felt the problem he should have rung me and deferred the handover until the car was repaired and roadworthy.

I am pretty sure that knowingly selling a faulty vehicle is against the law. It certainly contravenes the goods of sale act. This is something I would not expect from Evans Halshaw, to knowingly sell a faulty vehicle. When paying over £20,000 I expect to be treated properly. I would have done better from a back street dealer.

I am very disappointed, and my holiday in the caravan was spoiled. My enjoyment of the car is spoiled.

The car is now booked in at Evans Halshaw Northwich as I am not happy to deal with Stockport ever again.

I cannot emphasize my disappointment and dissatisfaction enough. In 40 years of buying cars this is without doubt my worst experience ever!

Problems with the car after handover :-

Vibration, shuddering, shimmying whilst accelerating over 40mph.

Wrong luggage cover cover on the boot.

Rear seat belt holders missing

carpets missing

damage to bodywork not previously seen

valet very basic, poorly done

A new luggage cover and seat belt clips were supplied by Northwich Evand Halshaw within 48 hours.

The service record does not appear to be complete.

Made The Mistake Of Buying A Used Car From The St

Made the mistake of buying a used car from the Stockport dealership. Identified a couple of defects that needed sorting before buying the car which the sharp suited salesperson was in full agreement to. When the car was collected neither of the serious defects had been repaired, they also said the vehicle had Bluetooth which I have since found out it does not. They state all vehicles go through their 100 point safety checks before a sale but the nearest my car got to this was a bucket of water and a sponge. Do not let these sharp suits part with your money either for a used or new car or you will be sorry, avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid, you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!

Avoid Totally Misleading-out To Make A Fast Buck??

I am absolutely disgusted at the way my daughter was treated today, ended up in totally stressed situation with my daughter in tears. After the workshop did a minor repair to her DS3 car she was then told that there was also a problem with her disc pads and her car "was extremely dangerous" to drive quoting her £196 to repair it. Still under warranty we called Just Citroen Preston where we bought the car, they in turn called Stockport. Stockport then changed their mind and told us the car was not dangerous after all! We took it back to Citroen PRESTON they removed the disc pads and there was nothing wrong with them. We had had a completely wasted journey plus my daughter became extremely upset at all the messing around and being passed from pillar to post. Told one thing an then the opposite. After another call to Stockport they agreed that they would reimburse her for the fuel because of the wasted journey and we were told to call there on the way home,we did this only to find the person who had agreed to this was not there and no one else could deal with it . A complete waste of a day and they just don't give a damn and I quote there salesmen - is what it is- I told him I would be leaving the appropriate review and he just shrugged at me . WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND - QUOTING FOR WORK THAT DOES NOT NEED DOING?? I am considering reporting to trading standards.

Avoid If You Value Your Money

I'm sure when there are no issues they are friendly

As soon as something goes wrong they go out of their way you to Make things as difficult as possible - they have no customer skills but know how to ignore you, not return calls, fob you off, disregard your rights and leave you without a car for weeks

Please avoid at all costs I ignored reviews and it has cost me don't do the same

Worst Customer Service On The Planet.

Worst customer service on the planet. Traveled down from Scotland to buy a car, called in the afternoon, and made an appointment for following day at 11am . They sold the car to their garage in Wolverhampton at 9am the next day, but never called to tell me!

A four hour drive to Stockport for nothing!! The managers respone?!

He couldn't care less. A disgrace. Don't waste your time.

Very Poor Customer Service

I have tried to contact the sales team for a week now and each time i have been told someone will ring me back, so I will take my business elsewhere.

If this is how they treat customers wanting to buy a car I dread to think how their after sales is like

Sell Your Car Buying Service

I attended a booked appointment to be informed that I don't have an appointment because the lady who values the car is on holiday.

I informed the operative that I had driven 25 miles to attend & was offered a valuation but I was informed that the valuation wouldn't be accurate & they weren't actually in a position to buy the car.

After waiting 20 minutes I was given a worthless valuation.

It would appear that although Evans Halshaw are marketing the service as a competitor of "we buy any car" the service doesn't exist & the staff are not aware of any appointments booked through the internet or through the service by telephone.

Altogether a complete waste of my time.

Awful!

If there was an option for anything less than 1 star I would have gone for that. Never experienced such terrible service in my life.. Before we even purchased the car we were lied to countless times. Then the car broke numerous times so we sent it back. Now we are waiting and waiting for them to give us another car, in the meantime losing money. This is a short story of the months of hell we have experienced. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else.

Totally Ignored...don't Bother !

Went in Evans Halshaw today, interested in C1's. Totally ignored by staff, who were busy chatting. Even when we went outside to look at cars, no one came out. Shocking. Won't go back. Amazed they are in business when they let people who won't to spend money leave !

Customer Service

They have had my car for 3 days just to change a door seal which was leaking.

This is the 3rd time it's been in for this problem.

Nobody calls to update or give you any info.

The service is terrible.
