New Car

Just picked up my new BMW 1 series shadow edition and couldn’t be happier. The main thanks go out to 2 particular staff members who were so friendly and beyond helpful with regards to helping me find the perfect car and explaining everything in great detail. Couldn’t recommend enough if anyone is looking to buy or sell a car.

Damaged Car Back On Sale After Advised It’s Off To Auction!

Paid for the “bring the car closer to you” option after visiting Evan Halshaw Nissan Wessington Way and discussing a car located at Cardiff Evan Halshaw. We were assured this was not a problem and we paid the deposit and waited. Note at this stage the car had been advertised as having the full checks on wheels, body etc,and ready to go at a price of £8040. It had been mentioned the driver door lock was problematic, and Cardiff had assured the sales staff at Sunderland this would all be sorted. It even took a few days to hear back, so we assumed the repair was going through ok. My daughter was sorting her quotes out, and getting excited about her new car.

A few days later, received a call saying car was on its way up to us, all good. We then received a call to say the car had arrived at Sunderland with the damaged door causing a problem. We were told the car had over £1,000 of damage and the door would have to be busted open, causing a costly repair which the garage did not want to incur. They then stated the car was going off to the auctions and we could not purchase it. Our deposit was refunded. We were so dissaponted, as the time waiting, resulted in my daughter missing out on another better car, same model, cheaper price. A week later, the car we were told was off to the auction is on the website at Sunderland site, £700 more than the original advertisement, cannot believe it! The sales staff had actually said to us they could not sell the damaged car to my daughter as it was not good practice, and they would not want to pass on a problematic car to her. Looks like this car is okay for someone else to purchase at £8700? Be warned...if you go expecting a poor service, you’ll be fine, as that’s what you will get. I personally would avoid at all costs. Do your research. I wish I’d read the reviews on this link a few weeks ago, and could have saved myself and my daughter a lot of disappointment and time.

Shame on you Evan Halshaw. A business brand deserves better, and a customer deserves more....

Houlder Give No Stars If Were An Option

First trip out for car shopping with 17 year old son. Found car he loved, test drive arranged. Well after waiting for someone to find keys, then move the other cars about to pull out the car, we told the big boss back from holiday tomorrow so have to tidy up the area before he returns.

Car was great, perfect for our son. But oh dear the salesman totally put us off. Couldn't answer our questions, such as, how much would this cost new? Car was 3 year old, yet he did not know as he apparently never goes into the main showroom?Really?

And the smell.......think he might have bern out the day before or night before......... Totally off putting. In fact I drove the car first, then after stopping to switch over drivers, I begged my husband to change seats with me as smell so bad.

Got back to garage, quick look around car, salesman showed us the bonnet and how to change fluids, but could not put it back down, said to,leave it and cross that bridge later!

Talked figures.....cash sale, but no budge on price. Apparently that was end of story on negotiation we were told. Want it or not! We asked 3 times for on road price but still was unclear. Kept adding on tax then not tax, but the crucial point to make is the admin fee of £100. For what?! Cash sale, we told to tax it ourselves, so why pay £100 more for actually buying something?

Twingo!

Shocking Shocking Shocking

DO NOT ENTERTAIN THIS OUTFIT.

We travelled there from the Midlands to look at a car (we had been told was in great condition by salesman D. We pleaded with salesman D to be honest with us due to the distance we had to travel and salesman D and his manager A assured us all was great so we paid £200 holding fee and off we went on our treck, well to say it was a joke is putting it mildly the car was bumped and dented on the outside and battered on the in.

Needless to say we set off home on our 10 hour round trip utterley disheartenend and disgusted. These two clowns were the biggest pair of blaggers i have met. Whilst there we asked for OUR £200 holding fee which they were processing to be back with us in 3 days.Well 2 Months later and still not had it. So TRADING STANDARDS IT IS. Just please avoid this Shoddy place it is just shocking.

I Had To Use Them

I recently found that my partner's Nissan Note along with the two I had for resale had manufacturer airbag recalls outstanding so arranged to take them in.

The first one came back with a driver's airbag protruding by about an inch at the bottom, obviously not fitted properly, and the horn going off at anytime. Since these had no tax they had been transported and the fault not immediately noticed on its return. a 'Free Health Check' revealed nearly £800 worth of work, including the customary "discs and pads" which they were able to do immediately.....I turned down their offer as the car had only covered 21 miles since the MOT.!!!... The second car again came back with a list of jobs to do including oil level critical. I had personally changed the oil and filter three days prior, the level was absolutely correct. Obviously they had expected dirty oil and just had not looked closely enough....As for the "discs and pads"...NO WAY..

and their prices...Wow...£289 for discs and pads...£23.83 to check engine oil level, £14.65 for a rear wiper blade, £31.86 to replace a U clamp on the exhaust......

I must be fair and complete the picture by saying that because it was holiday time I left a message with Evans Halshaw AND Emailed them. They did contact me but I had already corrected the ill-fitting airbag myself and was in no mood to give

them a second chance.

These were recalled by the manufacturers and, of course, as a safety issue I had to have them done. I should have gone the extra mile and gone somewhere else.

Shoddy workmanship on a safety item cannot be tolerated..More interested in generating unnecessary paid jobs.

Getting Holding Deposit Back

Paid £100 holding deposit arranged test drive, car was fine only reason did not proceed was the low valuation they put on my car. was told salesman would get in touch re refund of the £100 deposit they did not do this. I then telephoned but the salesman was not available and I was told he would call me which he did not. I have then yet again spoken to the admin team who were going to contact the used car manager to arrange the refund. No need for all of this a simple attention to detail could have saved all this unnecessary follow up.

Only other comment was the attempt to add extras to the deal which would have added well over £1000. For a car just out of manufacturers warranty to be only offered 3 months warranty I feel is inadequate but thats goes with their attemp to sell you a warranty for hundreds of pounds.

Arthur Daley Sells Better Cars.

This concerns the Evans Halshaw branches at Car Store Coventry, and Nissan Sunderland.

These people are untrustworthy. They lie, between their teeth and stop at nothing to rip you off. I am looking to buy a Nissan GTR. I noticed that at their Coventry branch they had a 2015 silver GTR with 5000 miles for just under £60,000.

I made enquiry, and paid £200 to reserve the car immediately. I live in Northumberland so it was not easy to travel down. Further more I didn't want to travel down before I knew that the car was as described. Eventually my wife talked with the Dealer Principle. He reassured her that the car was totally unmarked, and only had three very small stone chips on the screen which could be repaired before the handover.

I arranged for the car to be transported to Sunderland branch and paid for the transportation. Also paid £20,000 deposit. When the car arrived, they had it in the showroom with a red cover on it. I was very impressed. When the cover was taken off, I noticed that the car was very dirty and had not been washed. There were a lot of dead insects on the front of the car. On examination, I noticed that the front of the car was covered with numerous stone chips. The windscreen had at least 9 stone chips on it but it could have been more, because I could not see everything through the dirt on the screen. There was a big dent on the roof. There were three large stone chips on the rear quarter panel in front of the rear tyre.

I had been told by Coventry's dealer principle that the tyres had 5.5 mm tread on them. On examination I found that they only had 3.5mm.

The business manager at Sunderland, at first denied that there were excessive stone chips on the car, and offered that one of the mechanics could touch them up. I refused and reminded him that this is a £60.000 car and done only 5000 miles. Later he phoned and said that his painter had seen the car and agreed that the front of the car could not be touched up as it was very bad and had to be fully resprayed. He also told me that he would send the car to this little paint shop who had a lock up garage and had two lads working for him. I could not believe my ears that he was planning to send a £60,000 GTR to a back street painter to get it painted. I asked him the name of this place, but he said that he will not give it to me as he didn't want me to talk to him (the painter).

I decided to walk away from this car. I am sure the car can be brought up to a high standard for a 5000 miles supercar, but not in the hands of such a person.

This business manager also told me that they will service the car themselves. I told him that they (Sunderland branch) are not a high performance dealer authorised by Nissan to do the job. He argued with me, but their service department put him right and told him that they are not allowed to service the GTR. Obviously he was planning to sell me the car without servicing it which will cost in the region of £1000.

I brought this matter to the attention of their customer service department. It took several days and many phone calls for them to eventually contact me, and it was a total waste of my time. They just told me that I was not buying a new car !! I told them that their dealer principle at Coventry had promised me that this car was "unmarked". Obviously he needs to visit Specsavers !! My recommendation is to avoid Evans Halshaw and don't go near them. Their standards are very low.
