My Range Rover Broke Down With A Suspension Fault

My Range Rover broke down with a suspension fault and was recovered to Stratstone on the 8th February. It took an entire week to repair the vehicle which I was told required a front height sensor, most of that week it was sat waiting to be looked at. No courtesy car was available and I was forced to pay over £100 for a hire car because of their delay.

After picking the car up, I had to phone in to say that the car wasn't right, the ride height lights were flashing and I was told to 'keep an eye on it'. The car broke down again less than a week after being 'repaired' with exactly the same fault. The car was again recovered to Stratstone and I was told that someone would look at it asap. Not happy! I complained to the Dealer Principal who said that because they were busy, a mechanic with less experience than their 'master technician' had repaired my car but he should have replaced both front height sensors not just the one, he admitted they'd made a mistake and the car was repaired. Again they had the car for a couple of days.

10 days later, the car broke down again with exactly the same problem, again it was recovered to Stratstone. I was told it was unlikely I'd get a courtesy car but he'd try, he assured me that in view of the problems I'd had it was their intention to get the car fixed by the end of the day and he'd keep me updated. By 3pm that day I still hadn't heard, phoned them and was told no they definitely didn't have a courtesy car and no there was no chance of them even looking at the car that day, never mind fixing it as he'd implied. I then had to try and source a hire car at 3pm!

At the moment, I am paying for a hire car, Stratstone still haven't looked at the car and I have no idea when I'll get my car back or how long it's going to last until it breaks down again. I have had 3 breakdowns in 4 weeks, all because they are USELESS.

They promise they'll keep me updated, they never do, they couldn't care less. Their service and attitude is appalling. I've now lost what little faith I had in them and once they've managed to repair my car properly (IF they're capable..) it won't be going back there or to any other Stratstone dealer. They've tried to persuade me to buy a new car from them but they can dream on.

Iwas Looking For A New Range Rover Vogue For Deliv

Iwas looking for a new Range Rover Vogue for delivery late Jan 2010.

Stratstone Perth are nearest dealers. Sales took all my details and spec for new car, I advised I would be looking for finance.

Still waiting for a price, bought Range Rover from Marshalls, Peterborough, great price & service.

Car broke down at 4000 miles, no electrics caused complete stop on a Friday night. Land rover direct fine, but car went back to Stratstone Perth for 10 days - didn't even bother to replace boot trim that had to be removed, again still waiting for a reply to my complaint.

First service went to an approved land rover agent - Strathearn eng - great job, great price - service warning wouldn't reset. Stratstone wouldn't touch it, though obviously a warranty item.

Something badly wrong there.

Have A Freelander 2. There Are Only Two Main Deale

Have a Freelander 2. There are only two main dealers near where I live (both owned by Stratstone) and Perth is the nearest. Following my recent experience with them I will not be back. Nor will I be buying Land Rover again.

I have had the car serviced there since new (2007) and each time there have been issues of poor service and overpricing. However the latest visit was the final straw.

The car went for it's first MOT and I had asked them to check out the clutch as I had on a couple of occasions shortly before the test heard what I believed was a slight slip in sixth gear.

On getting the car back (much later than advised) I asked the service reception agent about the clutch and what they had found. He was unable to give me an answer. However at that point the Workshop Manager entered the temporary Portakabin office and the agent asked him about it.

The Portakabin was full of other members of staff and customers at the time.

I was informed directly by him that they could find no fault after a road test and when I tried to explain what I had encountered and the circumstances, his tone changed and he became verbally very abrasive in his manner.

He then stated that 'perhaps it's a fault that only happens when the engine is warm' and that 'they didn't have time to take the car on a fifty mile road test'

On asking why they hadn't carried out a road test at least to the point where the engine was at normal operating temperature I was in no uncertain terms told that he 'didn't have time to stand here and argue with me'

I wasn't arguing, I only wanted an explanation about what could potentially be an expensive fix further down the line.

His demeanour was such that the whole Portakabin was brought to a standstill. It was a completely humiliating experience in public and it was obvious that there was no point in remaining in the reception.

I contacted the Service Manager, complained to him about the manner in which I had just been treated and he advised me that he would look into it and get back to me later the same day. I am still waiting.

A day later Stratsone Head Office contacted me on the phone having seen I had been in for the MOT and wondered if I wanted to book the car in for a service. I advised the lady I spoke with about the previous days events and that I would not be returning as a customer.

She listened and said that she would inform her manager of the way I had been treated and contact Perth about it. Again I am still waiting.

Stratsone Perth simply don't care. To say they have an officious manner would be an understatement. However as I pointed out to the Head Office representative, I will be voting with my wallet in the spring when I come to change the car.

To be treated in such a manner by the Perth staff having given them my business for the last three years is nothing short of disgraceful. I have also completed the official Land Rover survey and returned it, though I don't expect to hear any feed back about that either.

Land Rover, you just lost the sale of a new car. As for Stratstone Perth, take your car somewhere else - they'll happily take your money and will smile while they do it - but then so did Dick Turpin.

This customer's experience reflects mine. There is the odd person there who is pleasant, helpful and approachable. Sadly there are more who are snooty, rude, couldn't care less. I have a 3 year old Freelander and would happily have another Land Rover but not from Stratstone Perth and a friend who deals with them in Cupar tells me they are just as bad. When I complained to a female caller from Stratstone who was trying to persuade me that I should be using them for new tyres she told me she would remove my name from their list. No apology, no "we will look into that". A more friendly member of staff later did apologise but nothing actually happened. My car was then in for a service and lulled into a false sense of security by a pleasant member of staff I asked for figures for a trade in and purchase of a new RR Sport. Despite being promised them the next day I am still waiting.

I hope Land Rover is reading how bad these people are who are trying to sell their vehicles!

I Had Freelander Td4 Car Serviced And Repaired At

I had Freelander td4 car serviced and repaired at Stratstones of Perth. I felt the service I received was poor, undershield not fixed on properly, oil cap cover missing, and the invoice appeared to have lots of add on charges for work done that was not agreed with me, plus charges for antifreeze, brake fluid etc. My father in law was with me at the time and he couldn't believe how I was spoken too.

I also had some damage to the body work and chose to have the insurance repair work done by the dealer at the same time as they used genuine parts. The car was returned 4 times ( over 31 days in total ) due to poor repairs and blistering paint work. The rear light guards were fitted upside down, the wheel arch trim was a different colour to the others and you could see lead fill in the sill. Each time I had to swap my car insurance over onto one of thir courtesey cars. My insurance company even had to get an independent inspection report carried out on the car twice as the repair work looked to be that poor. The inspector spoke to the dealership in person however he said they did not seem interested. The dealership gave many reasons why this was not done properly. My insurance company agreed to fund the cost of the repairs at another body repair company. This was done without any problems.

I have just had my car serviced by the dealership 1 month ago. The car needed some new parts brakes & discs, diff mount and diff bearings. The quote was over £200 more for parts and labour than 2 other main Landrover dealers. The garage suggested that I was being quoted for non-genuine parts, however upon checking back with both other Landrover dealerships they both confirmed that these were genuine parts. Stratstones answer to this was that their prices are charged as they need to run a business and make a profit. This I understand but if 2 other dealers can charge £200 less and still making a profit why can't they? Arn't we in a recession and a compettitive market? Don't us customers keep them in business?

I felt there was very poor communication between departments and myself at Stratstone Land Rover. I did not receive return phone calls. Apparent excuses to why car not ready or finished, I experienced disappointing customer service and satisfaction.
