Huge shout out for my rescue by finding my mobile in the Ladies loo and crossed to the Eastbound Membery Services to return it to me - and then showed me a short cut back to Westbound - and onward to Cornwall. 15 mins from Help! to resolution. Good guy. Nice man. Thank you!
Roadways Are Appalling And Dangerous In Membury Services
When driving to the fuel pumps for non-HGV vehicle during the early hours of yesterday morning, I encountered a massive pothole. This was just before the pumps, close to where the HGV's turn to fuel up. My wheel went right into the pothole and although the tyre doesn't appear to be damaged, I suspect the tracking may have been misaligned.
Be that at it may. Welcome Break charge massive premiums for their services and the least we can expect is proper maintenance of the road to and from the services. Potentially damaging tyres could easily cause accidents on the motorway. Membury has just about the worst exit was of any services in the UK. This form of complacency is unacceptable.

Toilets
My wife and I were traveling east to London from Dartmoor in Devon and stopped for a much needed toilet break coffee and stretch our legs As I approached the male toilets you could smell the urine before even entering past the disabled toilet which I was going to use being disabled but it was damaged .As I say the smell was horrible I went to enter 3 stalls two were filthy and blocked also the seats were broken I found one that did not have anything in the toilet broken seat ! It had paper all over the floor. When I exited the hand wash facility a fellow traveller said how bad it smelt I understand it is busy but a toilet should be clean Sorry will not return !!

Appalling Choice And Poor Service
Just made a stop on eastbound services. Recent changes on cafe choices leaving Subway, KFC and Burger King, rubbish food offering little choice for those of us that require breakfast or something more substantial for lunch or evening. Forced to use Starbucks. Paper cups and brown bags for hot food to eat in(no plates or cups because dishwasher broken- same excuse last week? Coffee weak tainted by taste of cardboard, having to butter toast on brown paper. This plus total confusion when collecting coffee. Staff pleasant but difficult to understand, pressure not helping them. Tables not cleaned regularly.
Have been a regular weekly visitor Herron journeys from the west to London, it has been a reasonable stooping off place. The recent changes make this service station a really poor experience, I shall be using One of the other three in future and if this is the future for welcome break I will be avoiding them at all cost.
Never Again! Filthy Place.
Stopped here tonight aroumd half past eight.just returned from a holiday in Turkey, and needed petrol and a bite to eat.Bad decision! The food area upstairs was filthy.Litter everywhere, and unwashd tables.Someone had started to sweep up, but had left ..the brush and pile of rubbish behind , and didnt return while we were there .The food was appalling, I had a chicken, ham and mushroom pie and chips,,which was inedible. My husband had a burger king meal, that was the worst hed ever experienced, undercooked and soggy. Not what you expect for the price you pay. The staff were hopeless. Went to the ladies toilet on the way out. They were also filthy, I struggled to find one that was clear of paper and not blocked, when I did the pan was stained and foul smelling. We will never stop there again.Whoevere pays the manager needs to assess his or her ability to oversee the operation of the facilities.

It Was Terrible
I am outraged at how bad this service station was, I turned up at 9:39pm and brought the WORST ever doughnut and the top it off It cost me £1.65, absolutely disgusted! their KFC wasnt even open.. I had to resort to eat a old burger bun I found on the floor outside the services. Burger was open.. but it was infested with pests (rats) soo I had to be turned away! I WAS STARVING!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have obviously placed this review here to draw a few witty remarks to yourself, in my opinion. I can not believe that in this day and age, you stooped so low as to pick up from the floor outside the services, an old burger bun which had been infested by pests/rats. How you resorted to doing that...STARVING OR NOT, I fail to understand....or even believe. Being on the motorway, you had obviously arrived there by car or some form of transport. Surely you could have pushed on until you could leave the motorway at the next junction and found a café, or even a pub for a light snack.
Your on a motorway for goodness sake NOT the SAHARA DESERT

Stayed At The Days Inn Hotel And Apart From Smelli
stayed at the days inn hotel and apart from smelling of cats p*55 that frequent noise from the M4 keeped me awake all night. I might as well sleeped in my car on the hard shoulder.
I also got moved to another from which was full of mould and sticky sheets.
DO NOT STAY HERE
You should have refused to take the room if it was that smelly....and quite rightly so, you did. As for being given another room to sleep in. You found the sheets to be sticky. I wonder what that could have been ??? Next time, I think it would be better to sleep in the car, whilst off the road and in a car park.

I Recently Needed To Meet My Wife Who Was Coming F
I recently needed to meet my wife who was coming from Belgium travelling on a coach along the west carriage way. I had to come along the east carriageway. We arranged to meet at Membury because there is a footbridge over the motorway. I expected to find signs to the the footbridge: there were none at all - and not on the otherside of the motorway. It was dark. I went into service area and asked members of staff, but they were foreign and did not understand the meaning of the word 'bridge'. Eventually I found a man who showed me the way. We had to follow a complicated route without sineage. Out side of the building it was very dark. The footpath goes through a thicket of trees and is unlit. You had to feel your way around a corner to get onto the bridge. I am 75 and my wife is 72. We both felt this was a poorly designed and poorly maintained public facility. It is dangerous. It is an accident waiting to happen. Michael Faraway
With respect, I really don't think that you should be crossing motorway bridges in the dark and at that time of night. You should have chosen a different meeting place. As for asking the staff about 'BRIDGE' then the English language being what it is, they may have thought that you were asking them if they would like to have a game of cards with you.

I've been a loyal and frequent Membury Services user and is by far the best service station on the m4 and possibly the whole of the south of england.
