Leaks, Cracks And Constantly Boiling
So I love the look and ease of use of this kettle, it fills easily, boils quickly and looks great. Problem is that so far I've had to replace my original one 5 times with new ones, each time under warranty so within the 12 months of buying/replacing it. The first 3 all developed the leaks that others have mentioned and also started to keep boiling instead of switching off. The fourth one we had for 9 months and the area around the base of handle started to show stress cracks and made a funny noise whilst boiling. So we took it back to John Lewis and replaced it with another, so kettle number 5, lets see how long this lasts.

I Bought This Breville Jk147 Kettle In Jan 2010 At
I bought this Breville JK147 Kettle in Jan 2010 at a cost of approx £45. I bought it because it looked very stylish, it was see through & lit up blue when it was switched on. I did think the price was a little on the steep side for a kettle, but as my philips kettle had lasted for 15 years, I thought that another reputable brand like Breville I would have no problems & would get my moneys worth. How wrong was I! Cracks appeared up the body of the kettle,I was disappointed as it wasnt as aesthetically pleasing but it kept working. One morning I got up to make my coffee & there was water all over the work surface, I wiped it up & filled it up, again it emptied all over the work top, which in itself was a safety issue as it was leaking boiling water from the base. I contacted breville to ask for a replacement & to look into the issue & was told "sorry out of the 12 month warrenty" I am looking to take this further as I am concerned over the safety issue, but I will NEVER buy a Breville kettle again.

Whilst It Is A Very Attractive Looking Kettle It C
Whilst it is a very attractive looking kettle it clearly has a major design flaw.
IT LEAKS.
In a properly regulated environment this appliance would have been withdrawn from the market and customers recompensed.
Many complaints about this appliance can be viewed on the internet yet it is still on the market.

I Bought This Kettle On The Basis That Its See Thr
I bought this kettle on the basis that its see through design allows you to gauge how much water you need, and thus save me money and the planet. It was far more than I would usually pay. I paid just under £35. My last kettle a Frigadair cost me £4.99 and worked fine for a year.
The Breville JK147 started leaking within a few months. The firm I bought it from went bust so I could't return it. Breville agreed I could return it to them but I would have to pay the postage (which was more than a £4.99 kettle). I was not impressed with their attitude given they made the lousey kettle to such an appalling standard! I got the new one at the end of July. It is now leaking just as bad as the first one. Also water and electricity are not a good mix & I reckon its a safety hazard.
I have asked Breville to comment and I await their reply. My previous experience suugests that they don't care about their customers..but will keep you posted.

I Have The Same Experience As Many Other Unhappy B
I have the same experience as many other unhappy Breville JK147 Kettle owners. I stupidly fell in love with the beautiful look but in a few months, the kettle started to leak and now literally pours water from the base and/or between the metal at the base and the plastic. I emailed Breville and they asked me to return the product for 'exploratory' purposes at my own cost, would not recognise that there is a design fault (despite so many reviewers having similar issues) and certainly did not offer a refund or a replacement product. I'm out of warrantee by a month. You might imagine that they would be concerned that an electrical appliance that leaks water might be dangerous! Actually, I also had a problem with their matching toaster - the lights starting to malfunction within a few months of purchase. The moral of the story is choose a kettle for functionality and not for style!

Can't Beleive That In Such A Short Time This Kettl
Can't beleive that in such a short time this kettle is basically knackered. It started as a small bit of water coming from somewhere underneath. Within 2 weeks that has turned into a flood and the kettle is now dangerous and unusable.
This kettle appears to be built to fail.......or do I just have the rubbish one?

The Breville Jk147 Was A Good Reliable Kettle When
The Breville JK147 was a good reliable kettle when new, but starts going downhill after a few months. The worst thing is that it dribbles every time you pour it, so you will be endlessly wiping water from around the kettle and the bottom of your mug. It "spits" boiling water out of its spout before switching itself off, which also takes longer and longer as it gets older.

I Spent Two Days Searching The Internet Reading Re
I spent two days searching the internet reading reviews of various kettles and my head was spinning! Eventually I decided on the Breville JK147 Cordless Electric Kettle as I liked the look of it and I found it at only £35.56 including postage (nearly £10 cheaper than most suppliers). I have only had it a week but I am really pleased with it. The blue light is really attractive and I would absolutely recommend this kettle. I found it on a site called The Atlantic Shop
I would have given my kettle 5 stars in the first week, but it takes several months before they start to leak in earnest. I had 3 altogether (2 replacements) and finally Breville agreed to replace it with a different model. I have had this one for approximately a year and its been fine. However I am still not impressed, to my mind the JK147 should have been withdrawn and taken off the shelves. I can not believe that such a bad kettle could ever make it to market. As you can see I am still seriously annoyed. I probably would not only never but a Breville kettle again, but any thing from Breville
