They Take Your Money And Run

I purchased a Lenovo from PC World online and it came within 2 days (very impressive so I thought) It started to work alright but kept crashing when using the NCH Videopad. The faults became so bad I took the computer back to the shop in Corby when I was told to reset the PC. I did as instructed and the faults returned. The shop refused to repair the machine unless I signed a form making me liable to pay for the repairs. They have also refused to accept the computer back.

This company take NO responsibility for faulty goods and are breaking consumer law.

I would not use them ever again even if they were the only shop in the world.

Fake Sandisk Ultra Fit Usb 3.1 Memory Stick - 128 Gb, Black

I purchased one of these from PC World online February 2017. In September 2018, I decided to use it to create a system image. It was still new in the packaging, which I still have. In order to create a system image it was necessary to format the stick into NTFS. I did a full format and not a quick format. This operation destroyed the protective encryption security software that was pre-installed on the stick. It also destroyed the pre-installed trick software that gave the impression that the stick was 128 GB. Turns out it is a 32 GB flash drive and NOT a 128 GB. The case was subsequently referred to the Trading Standards. It seems impossible to review the item at PC World website to warn others. Question: Anybody know how to get a review on their website?

Untrained Staff And Harassment Awaits You.

Please don't buy anything from PC world shop in Stratford. The staff are untrained and rude. They do not know a simple process of how to exchange an item that was ordered online.

They just want to show their attitude and have regards for the service they should be providing.

Its such a shame that the brand has just gone down the drain.

They Are Not Interested In Looking After Their Customers.

I made the mistake of ignoring the bad reviews because of their no fix no fee offer. Took my laptop in for repair, they took the £60 fee and sent it to their repair centre. I got a call and was told it would cost £1,040 for a new main board on a laptop only worth about £900. Obviously I declined, when I went to pick it up and asked about getting my money back the answer was "I had declined the repair so therefore was not entitled to a refund". Well anything can be fixed if you throw enough money at it! Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. As far as I'm concerned, this company has lost a customer for life.

Ironically For A Tech Company, Defeated By Their Website!

I tried to reserve, for same-day collection, a £29.99 item on the PC World website. There appeared to be no 'Stock Availability' option, only a 'Reserve' choice, a postcode button to select your nearest stores but with no confirmation whether the product was already available in store or had to be ordered and collected from store. Defeated, I called their Sales Department! A helpful young man told me that none of their THREE local stores carried stock of the item but that it could be ordered and sent to the local store of my choice for collection 'within 2-3 days'. I've now ordered the item for the same price delivered to my office in 2 days via Amazon. If PC World can't hold stocks of relatively inexpensive items for immediate customer collection, I imagine that they will go the way of many other High Street retail victims of not keeping pace with online opposition for their business. The irony in all of this is that you would imagine that, just like Maplin, PC World, a specialist 'techy' retailer, in particular, would see the need to take on their online competitors before it's too late. Recent closures of their Carphone Warehouse stores should be a wake up call!

Terrible Customer Service

We purchased an Alienware 17 gaming laptop online from Currys PC World. When it arrived, it was faulty (freezing, not shutting down property, constant error messages, etc). We took it to the shop where the "tech expert" blamed the fault on us. We were not offered an exchange or refund and it was sent to Knowhow to be repaired. When it came back, the laptop was still faulty. We took it back to the shop and they said that we would have to call for an exchange or refund as it was an online purchase. We called and the sales team said that Knowhow would need to confirm that we could have an exchange or a refund. We were put through to Knowhow who couldn't understand why the laptop was sent back so soon after purchase (after a few days) and said that we should have been offered an exchange or refund when we first returned it. They said they did not have any more of that laptop and so they would refund us. They said that although we had purchased software, we would not receive a refund for that. We have therefore been left out of pocket because PC world sold us a faulty product. The service we received from PC World was the worst I have experienced.

A Few Tweaks And It Could Be So Different

The Clough Road Store Hull is a nicely laid out store and the staff try to be friendly and helpful but it could be so very different and so much better with the odd tweak. In context I have just spent about £3000 in the his store in the last few months.

What would I tweak?

1. Build a culture of the "customer is king" (otherwise Amazon will kill you by a death of a 1000 cuts ). eg -Supervisors walk around and refuse to serve customers who are made to wait. Any manager worth their salt would be there with the customers, making it happen.

2. Click and collect is never ready, I have tried it three times now and they just push you on to someone else, on one occasion I waited 40 minutes.

3. They make promises they don't keep ( not phoned back, or emailed etc.) I was promised cheap software to compensate for bad service (items being 10 days late) - it never came.

4. The back room systems look like they are from the dark ages, they keep going out of one system to look at another.

It really could be so different with very little effort. Just some basics on being nice to people.

Absolutely Disgusting

Wanted to cancel my Know-How Cloud membership, after it automatically renewed for the year. After being on-hold for 20 minutes (obviously a money-making endeavour!) I was told that as it had just renewed I would need to call back next year top cancel or forfeit the £30. I chose to forfeit the £30 but this is disgusting service as there is no reason that they cannot set a flag to not re-new. When I complained the guy on the other end of the phone couldn't have cared less, poor customer service and didn't even bother offering a half-hearted apology

I've always bought my PC's etc from Curry's-PC World but never again

Q&A

Lola50

I am thinking of buying a Mac 11" Air from PC World. Says its new with the one year warranty and price includes tx and s&h.

Reviews on buying from here are not favorable. Since I would be using the Apple Store after I purchase I'm not sure I see a negative reason not to.

Am I overlooking anything?

Thanks!

I have got a laptop today from PC World in Bradford. The McAfee password won't work. What should I do?
