Just Got The New Kona Blast 2011, Its An Awsome Bi
Just got the new Kona blast 2011, its an awsome bike and the new forks on it make it a bike that you can use for anything, I personaly cycle it 8 miles to get to the trails, including a bit of cross country and some basic/ intermiediate downhill with some fairly big drops and jumps. The fork handle anything i have thrown at them and the gear changes are smooth and the ratios brilliant.

YES I DID IT ON A HARDTAIL!
Id guess not many can say they have done the megavalanche on the same bike as they ride the 16 miles to work and back every day!
got 150mm rockshox and avid juicy breaks on it. Definitely couldn't have managed the mega with dart 2's.
Anything else that has worn out i have replaced with similar, except pedals which i replaced after about 100miles on the road

Awesome bike, just bought the Kona Blast 2009 model - will upgrade the pedals, but I've never heard of anyone liking stock pedals on a sub-£1000er anyway!
I'm just getting back into MTB after many years out, and i'm really impressed with this bike.

Great all round bike. Second Kona, just as good as the first. Great value. Just got off the bike park at Whistler to try it out in the rough and it was not bad. Great cross country. I am a bigger guy and the shocks are a little soft but not bad for stock.

This is a very good bike in all respects. There are a few flaws, such as the pedals, but these are indeed very minor, and I would recomend it to anyone with a true riding spirit, but not prepared to pay too much money.

Swapping To Hayes 9 Hfx Hydraulics -were Not Much
Swapping to Hayes 9 HFX hydraulics -were not much more powerful, but didn't constantly need adjusting
Stem changed to 110 cm with oversize bars at the same time.
Seat changed to much narrower BodyFit Titanium
Forks changed for Manitou R7 Elites
I now have a superb XC hardtail, light enough to lift over gates and stiles.
Used the mechanical discs on my wife's Rockhopper and sold the rest on eBay, (so got most of my upgrade costs back)
Now better than the Caldera!
