Room constantly black with soot - God help our lungs!!! Never put it on these days as we are so fed up with re-decorating. And it stinks when you put it on!

Lack Of Suport From Esse When Things Go Wrong
stove has turned room black with soot this is the second time it as happened in the two years we have had the stove when the time came to service it the independent gas fitter shut the stove down still waiting for esse gas fitter to attend to sort out problem five days after speaking to esse it seems that once you have paid your money if any thing goes wrong they are not the best company in the world to deal with ie not returning phone calls then when you do speak to some one you still end up waiting for some one to sort out the problem avoid at all costs my gas stove is a esse 500 worst thing i have ever bought it is a fluless stove working with a catilitic converter

Esse have not returned phone calls or emails to offer support on where we can find an approved fitter.
Not surprisingly the 515 has been discontinued, replaced by the Esse 525, still looks great and improved efficiency. Gas Safe engineers are now more used to the flueless gas stoves. If anyone needs advice or installation then visit: www.esse-stove-specialist.co.uk/installation

fantastic, says it all about corgi (hey, gas safe now) Esse and the lot! LOL
I'm glad it was useful. We did some research before we bought it & most internet companies selling it (we bought from inspired fires) did not mention that plumbers need a specific piece of equipment to test the fire once installed. Most do not have this & are not willing to buy it as it costs about £500 & they do not install enough of these fires to make it worth their while. So we have not found a single plumber in our area prepared to install it (it would mean they would be doing so illegally without testing it, but more to the point, none were willing to install a flueless fire without being able to test it was safe). We are now having problems getting any kind of refund from either Inspired Fires, or Esse, so I would advise against buying one.
I found this review helpful because... I'm thinking of getting one these fires. I have not found any other information on the web and plumbers don't know anything about them. This is the first comment I've seen on any kind of flueless gas fires.
