Rude , Aggressive Staff

Very rude and aggressive staff at the Llanelli office. Couldn't even get a price as they were over 30 minutes late and then let someone jump the queue. Horrid threatening staff and the worst service I have ever received in my life. This firm should be out of business. Would not recommend.

Easy But Stingy

Having been given a decent valuation on line and then been bombarded with updates which fluctuated wildly every 5 days, I decided to sell when the offer seemed reasonable.

Booking the appointment was easy and the location at Dobbies Garden Centre Speke, was easy to access. The agent was friendly and efficient.

Despite agreeing there was no problem with the car, other than expected wear and tear, he was only authorised to offer me nearly £700 less than the quoted valuation, because of scarce service history. This is despite me having stated at the outset that there was limited service history.

There was no pressure to sell and I could have walked away, but on balance, felt the lack of time and hassle swing in favour of accepting the offer.

Agree with the experience above. Was lured in after declaring online door damage, limited service history, no mot but with no change to online quote of 885 pounds. After discussion in the office was offered 65 pounds. Rejected this and took car around to scrap merchant for 110 pound. Beware!

Waste Of Time

They offered my TOYOTA AVENSIS automatic 2012 Plate car runs and condition perfectly excellent for £1995 which is actually at least £500 less than current market price but I wanted to sell it quick. I took it there. one of them checked this and that, forcing himself to find false issues to price it down. It’s got full service history as well. After all of that, they revalued the car £678 !!! Really really annoying !! proper deceivers !!! Selling it privately now. If you are selling cars please find buyers who can come to you and waste their own time not ours. Good luck ????

Alwys Way Under Priced

I sold two cars in the last 3 months and this company underpriced one by 20% and the other by 36% against others in the market like cazoo, Motorway and Auto trader. As it turned out the actual prices I revived for the cars was pretty close to the other evaluations. Either they are dealing with mugs who don’t take care to get comparison pricing or they are missing out on a lot of business.

Wbac Sale

I sold my car with WBAC at the West Norwood branch with an agent who was very helpful and I would recommend them. Their valuation was higher than other competitors.

More Than 5% Knocked Off Initial Quote, other Company Spot On

My wife got an online quote for £8.2k, when she took the car to the appointment in Bath, the assessor knock down the quote to £7.6k because the front bumper needs to replaced but it was only a small scratch, and also need to pay admin fee £75 before going any further. Disgusted how they tried to take her for a ride. So she tried Carwow, same photos and description, auctioned with reserve price £8.3k and successfully sold to a motor trader for the reserved price who inspected the car before paying and agreed front bumper just a small scratch. Wife got full amount of £8.3k (no fees) and money in her bank 5 mins after dealer checked car. So thank you webuyanycar for pushing her to get a better price elsewhere and we leave you with the following message "I sold my car but NOT to webuyanycar".

Don’t Bother

Got a value on my van, booked appointment, arranged someone to pick me up from Stoke. Got there, mysteriously my immaculate 18 month old van, with 8700 miles on it dropped considerably in price overnight. A complete waste of everyone’s time. I told them the day before on the phone, not to play silly f….ers. An interesting experience, I imagined this was going to happen, and was proved right. It’s rather like selling windows 20 years ago, they ‘close you’ via a phone call before. Several texts, then, you have all your documents ready haven’t you? Arranged a lift? Cleaned the vehicle? Then you get into a position of feeling you should accept the offer. They are trading on people’s desperation, and are basically begging cars at less than ‘bottom book’. When he made a play of the one very minor mark on the vehicle, I did mention the towbar it has that is extra? The virtually new ply lining inside. Shall I remove them? What these people want is a brand new vehicle, when they are actually buying second hand ones. It’s hilarious really!!! When I challenged the person, who was 25 minutes late for the agreed time, and mentioned a review or two he said ‘crack on mate!!!’ and wandered off. So here it is….forget these people, Pay £30 and put your car on autotrader!!! These people are complete clowns!!!

Beware Stay Clear!!! I Have Given 1 Star Because I

BEWARE STAY CLEAR!!! I have given 1 star because I can't give any less. I had my vehicle assessed by We Buy Any Car this morning. The vehicle is well maintained, has some service history and is what anyone would assess as 'good condition' for its age. I was given an online valuation of £1505, but when assessed by the 2 employees of We Buy Any Car, they tried to insult my intelligence by offering just over £500!! This vehicle is worth in excess of £1800 so, in my opinion, I am unsure if they attempted to try and trick me because I am female, or just because they think they can! They tried saying the vehicle wasn't an Ecotec engine, but in VERY LARGE LETTERS on the engine...it says EcoTec! This kind of exploitative practice is totally unprofessional and totally unacceptable from any company, but even more so from a well known organisation who people place their trust in to give a fair and accurate price for their vehicles. The Chesterfield branch of We Buy Any Car - shame on you! And I will be logging a formal complaint after I have finished this review!

The online quote was accepted. On arrival at the office the car value was downgraded by 30% due to having non existent damage . Complete waste of time ,

All cars sold this way go to auctions so might as well cut out the we screw every customer and take it yourself or sell private .

How much would they give me for my 2009 Kia spectrum?

hsiala70

I echo what was said in the previous response. I found webuyanycar reliable and courteous. What they offered me for my old VW Touran was reasonably (not significantly though) more than what was offered as parts exchange. You can try selling it online to see how much interest it will raise by potential buyers; however, you will run the risk of dealing with timewasters who want to test drive your car and then try to negotiate an unacceptable bargain. I am quite happy with the service I received from Webuyanycar.

Why has this company a very good overall score, but very bad over the past 6 months?

QWERTY1000

I hadn't used WBAC before last month, so my personal experience is only recent, but there is no way I would ever use them again.

The whole experience is basically a process called 'straight line selling'. Its a sales tactic that is intended to control the boundaries of a sales negotiation/discussion with the boundaries getting narrower the nearer you get to the 'close' of the sale.

The way they position this is very clever, they explain what they are doing during the 'inspection', not to keep you informed, but to convince you that all the 'faults' they are finding in your vehicle means it is worth a lot less than you think, and to get you to become agreeable to that.

How do I know and recognize this? Because I'm a sales professional myself and train sales teams!

I can't answer why they have got so bad over the last 6 months, but perhaps this sales approach has been implemented since the arrival of a new sales director (or similar exec level position), and the staff on the ground are being trained to follow this (and a script) with associated sales targets.

Whatever the reason, considering that I was offered £2000 less than TRADE price, and then went on to sell my car elsewhere for the TRADE price, I just wouldn't bother wasting my time with them again, and would suggest everyone else avoid them too, unless you want to be subjected to a clever phsychological sales process intended to take advantage and control the customer.

Good luck!

Where is the market research data that would substantiate and validate WEBUYANYCAR's claim in their TV advertising that "In a recent survey their customers saved on average £2165.00"?

mistercoolkat

I have now submitted a full report about WE BUY ANY CAR to the advertising standards authority (ASA) about WE BUY ANY CAR's dubious advertising claims. The ASA said that they are constantly receiving complaints about WE BUY ANY CAR - no surprise there! Using scare tactics will definitely work with a percentage of the general public, but it is really shabby practice, which I hope the ASA will take them to task over....we'll see.
