Untrustworthy Salesmen
The salesmen got me interested in a car on their dealership network. When I went back to put down a deposit, they pretended it was the same car but tried to fob me off with a different one and refused to show me the details on the computer screen. They then forged my signature on a document in my absence. I insisted on a refund of my deposit. I will never go there again.

Poor Quality Cars
We bought a used s-max in 2012. It was just over 3 years old when we bought it. Since then we have had to pay for costly repairs every year. Exhaust brackets and realign passenger door the first year. Door lock, rear windscreen replacement (heating elements gone) and suspension in two parts gone the second year. Flywheel, clutch and gearbox gone in the third year. Including replacing the wheels we have easily spent another £4-5k on top of the 15k we bought the car for. We even had to fight the warranty company who took from us more then they paid out. I have had cars last 10+ years and not had nearly as many faults as this car. Gowrings sold us an expensive piece of junk.

Zero Customer Service At Newbury Branch
"Gowrings Ford, established 95 years offering exceptional customer service"
I don't think so.
We bought 2 cars from this company 2 years ago. 2 weeks ago we needed to replace the tyres on my wife's car.
After arranging for a company to come to us to do this we found that we had not been given the locking wheel nut for the car. £25 cancellation fee!
When we contacted Gowrings we were told this was our fault for not having the car serviced with them.
Rather than offer to supply us with the missing item, we were told we would need to pay £16 for the part and it would not be quick as it has to come from Germany
When the part eventually arrived after a week and a half, to add insult to injury the price was £24 and they still insisted we pay and they still think Germany is a long way away!
Needless to say, we will never put any business their way again. By my reckoning the profit on 4 years of servicing and replacement cars....significantly more than £24
Please think twice before dealing with this company. They are happy to help when you are spending money, but after that you are on your own.

Do Not Prefer Buying Used Cars From Ford
I have taken the used car (ran 13000 miles) from Gowrings, Ford, Reading and found that there are few issues with the car. Few of them have been resolved liaising with the sales guy but few are unattended. Checks are not properly done before selling the car.

Couldn't Agree More With The Other 1 Star Comments Here
to start with, i paid them to put tax on the car for me. i have since found out i have been driving without tax for the last 4 months and therefore, illegally, without insurance. could be a simple mistake... fair enough.
If that wasn't enough by itself, its simply that they want nothing more to do with you after purchase. over the last 4 months since buying the car, I've had a few problems with it. I think they were honest problems that the garage couldn't have dealt with before i bought it, but every time i tried to contact them for help, the only response you get is one that will get you off the phone asap. i can count over 5 times now where they have said they will call me back or i have requested a call back, and there has been no such thing. EVEN IF YOU CANNOT HELP, CALL BACK TO LET ME KNOW THAT YOU CAN NOT.
Its just incredibly frustrating, and an absolute waste of my time. with all of the problems I've had with the car/tax, so far i have had to deal with them all myself out of my own pocket. even when the exhaust bracket should have been covered by the warranty they were so slow and unhelpful i ended up buying the parts myself and getting another garage to fix.
I hate people moaning about customer service because in my work, like most, i try to give the best customer service i can at all times, and sometimes theres only so much you can do. but this is literally the worst customer service/after care (if any exists) i have ever come across.
Very Disappointed!!
I purchased a 2yr old fiesta 7 months ago Gowrings Reading,it had a chip in the windscreen which they had someone repair the same week of purchase since then the windscreen developed a crack right the way through it,I had to take it into the garage serviceman looked at the car and i was told someone will call me the next day i did state i wanted the same windscreen with the quick heated screen as that's the reason i buy Fords, Well when i called back the next day i was told to claim through my own insurance and they would pay the excess which i was quite angry about as i explained i have spoken to my insurers already and as the damage was done while it was owned by previous owner to claim it was damaged by myself would be a fraudulent claim, I also found out that the screen was repaired a moth before i owned the car anyway to cut a long story short still waiting to have my windscreen replaced as the part is out of stock!!! BEWARE AFTERCARE VERY POOR

Garage Where I Wont Go Again
This is a long story so I make it slightly shorter...via bullet points.
- our car failed MOT cause of not working mid rear break light bulb....our car does not have bulb but LED light = you failed losers
- after telling them to fix the NOT-Existing bulb...they still failed our MOT but still charged for the repair....do you get it ...we failed on something that does not exist on our car....bad bad people
- By going in you will probably hear that your fiesta got leaking water pump...then the belt needs changing ...oh yeah and break fluid...and the bill £500+ cause they supply the parts coated in gold...yeah right and fitted by F1 team
- they called us in talk with the manager apparently to say sorry...got free service out of it...boo hoo...we went for service and they slapped us with £850 repairs.....
I could go on and on...but to give you a hint: DONT GO THERE...but if you have a shed loads of money...don't drive FORD. heh
To cut long story short...we went to private service and got it fixed for £60 ... oh no I am driving on a time bomb...yeah F U FORD Reading F U.

I Had My Alternator Changed At The Newbury Branch
I had my alternator changed at the NEWBURY branch in Febuary, I question now whether it did need changing. In July the battery light started coming on intermittently so I took it back to have the alternator checked.
After the check I was told that the alternator was fine but there was a fault in the wiring loom and was told that "I need to invest in the region of £200 to find it". I decided not to "invest" and told them I would pick the car up in the morning. The serviceman then tried persistently to get me to have the work done, I had to be firm to decline. In my opinion, I think they had started the work.
The next morning I picked up the car. As soon as I started the car the battery light stayed on. I took the car in with an intermittent fault and had it returned with a constant fault, you can draw your own conclusion.
Later that afternoon I phoned and spoke to an extremely rude person in service who would not let me speak and kept speaking over me. When I pointed this out he said I was just repeating myself. I had no joy with the call.
My next step was to take it to proper Ford specialist (not any of the Gowerings branches). My bill was £80. The problem was that a wire had not been soldered properly when the alternator was fitted. Nothing to do with the wiring loom.
Dishonest...
Bought a Ford Focus estate from Newbury branch.
1) Salesman filled out a form and asked me to sign it, saying it was admin.
Turned out to be a review of his knowledge of financial products!
2) He told me (and my wife that there was one previous owner. Vehicle Registration document arrived saying there were two...
Got a call from Gowrings on Saturday. Eventually the woman conceded that the salesman should not have assessed himself but no apology.
On the issue of the number of previous owners I was told that at that point in time (i.e. before I bought the car) there was only one previous owner and that I should have checked the Vehicle Registration document. As Gowrings owned the car this is not true and we were never shown the document...
