Sainsburys Entertainment Ebooks And Nook

With Sainsburys entertainment closing down within a year of taking over the Nook UK service, in the initial migration from Nook UK to Sainsburys entertainment my 6,000 ebooks reduced to 500 ebooks as Sainsburys do not migrate the entire library unless they were bought from Nook directly. Compensation £44 was provided. Now 6 months later I have tried and tried over weeks to download local copies from the Sainsburys entertainment website, however most the time its is down and I reported it to Sainsburys multiple times, leading to no response to my emails.

I eventually read up on Digital rights in the UK and wrote to the CEO to request a full refund or a local copy saved in Adobe DIgital editions format.

Result Reply from Executive office with a Pen drive with my 500 ebooks and a compensation Giftcard

On the lost 5500 books (for Nook users), I logged in to the USA Barnes and Noble site and I could still see my library but could not download, changed my address to a US address and was able to purchase ebooks, then used Nook for PC and downloaded all 5500 ebooks.

Sainsburys Appaling For Nook Owners

Sainsburys bought the rights to E-books for Nook from Barnes and Noble and have ruined the usability of the Nook. The digital rights management is so complex that you will give up long before you manage to get a book onto your Nook. My Nook has been ruined by what Sainsburys have done, it is far easier to buy a book on amazon, convert it and transfer it than to to do it via sainsburys, all I can say is avoid Sainsburys Entertainment.

One-time Download Peril - Not Worth The Risk

I used to like the site when they sold CDs, but on MP3s they only allow 1 download. My hard-drive crashed shortly after I had bought and downloaded some MP3 albums, and before I could back them up. When I went back to my Sainsbury's account it was empty! Customer service's advice - "I will need to purchase the content again! For the small saving you might make from buying from Sainsbury's Entertainment, you will need to balance the risk. For me it is not worth it - Never again! Even though they probably pay their corporate taxes, allowing more than one download for back-up is enough to entice me elsewhere.

Promised Orders Not Fulfilled

We have ordered two items form Sainsbury's Entertainment. The first was "360 Sound - the story of Columbia Records". They took the order but after several weeks told us they couldn't get it (we bought it elsewhere). A couple of weeks ago we pre-ordered the 4CD deluxe version of Bob Dylan's "Another Self Portrait". Today Sainsbury's have informed us that the supplier has "deleted" the item! As this CD set is due for release on 26 August and is readily available elsewhere for pre-order, Sainsbury's excuse for not fulfilling our order is rather odd. From these experiences I can think of no good reason for ordering anything from Sainsbury's Entertainment again! Be warned!

What's The Point Of The Download Manager, Exactly?

Just blew my spare nectar points on a few MP3s, only to find... well, I use Linux, now what? LOL. I'll have to borrow somebody's Windows PC just to download a few MP3 files! What useful purpose can this thing possibly serve? Does it even work on the Apple Mac?

Chaotic

Sainsbury's Entertainment works fine - if you're lucky. Occasionally a transaction goes smoothly - the item advertised is actually in stock and the item arrives within a week. Sadly, out of many attempted purchases, one that goes well has been a rare experience. More often than not, an item shown as in stock isn't, and there is then weeks or even months of getting automated responses telling you they are trying to source it. The so called support team is useless. Seems they have no discretion but to send further formulaic pacifying emails but nobody has the gumption to actually do anything about a query or a complaint. They promise to get back to you and don't. Out of sheer frustration I did actually write a REAL letter, but never had the courtesy of a reply. It's a pity because when the site works as it should it's a good service with a fairly wide range of competitively priced products. But, having spent millions acquiring this business Sainsbury either is content to merely maintain a web presence just in case this new fangled online shopping thing catches on, or like a kid with a new toy, thought it wanted it but now can't be bothered, or they've spent all they're going to and this enterprise will have to limp along until it quietly dies a death or is sold on. Shame.

My Rare Album!

I placed an order for a Lynyrd Skynyrd album that I have been trying to buy in shops for ages ( even my local "music specialist" shop didnt have it!!!!) I finally found it on Sainsburys. I rang them to make sure it was the one I wanted and the girl I spoke to was more than helpful. She found it on the site, read the tracklisting to me and made sure it was the one i wanted1 ( it was), I made my order and had my 1998 Lynyrd Skynrd 3 days later. Thanks Sainburys!!

Poor At Best

They are super cheap compared to Amazon etc.. But the service is dreadful. I've bought a few items from them now and I'm currently blocked for placing too many orders. I've bought 10 items over 3 weeks and all different. My payment method is good, but they don't like selling to the same people too often so they block you for 24 to 48 hours.

The delivery service is poor at best. Most items can take between a week to a month to arrive. So if you're not in a hurry, love unhelpful customer service assistants and love the 1940s second world war style rationing style of buying, give them a try.

You clearly haven't called their customer service team. I ordered Oz due to how cheap it was compared to other sites. I was given a 3 to 5 day delivery date. Called them just to make sure and the girl I spoke to couldn't have been more than helpful. Explained that it was delivered by Royal Mail and told me that if I didnt get it by the date I wanted it (i'm not that bothered when it arrives) that all i needed to do was call in and they would sort me out with a voucher for my next order. Oz has since arrived 3 days before I expected it. WELL DONE SAINSBURYS ENTERTAINMENT

Offer Lower Price Pre-order Cds But Cannot Supply For Weeks

I ordered 2 pre-order CDs from Sainsburys Entertainment. My email said they would be sending so that they arrived on the release date. This date came and went and after a further 3 days I wrote to them. They said the items were on back order! They never even wrote to tell me and didn't apologise for that at all. I said I wanted to cancel and they said they would get back to me the following day to let me know if that was possible or not! That one phone call took 8 minutes for them to go talking to different people before finally coming back to say that! What a joke. I will never buy CDs from them again. I'll stick with Amazon. Their service is perfect. In my opinion Sainsburys are trying to win business by offering crazy cheap prices in the short term and promising something they then fail to deliver on. They obviously don't realise that people online tell everyone else. So this will now be read by thousands of people who turn away from them. It's very short-sighted.
