Excellent Value For The Money.i Am On My Seco

Excellent value for the money.I am on my second one (silver plated) although the sound seems slightly brighter on my older laquered model. Why pay the price for a Benge, you won't notice any difference!

In my opinion, Slightly difficult for young hands to hold comfortably.

I normally play a Yamaha trumpet -cornet as well as Conn, Olds and Besson models, but always carry the Jupiter in the car.My pupils love it and my eldest granddaughter started to play trumpet on this model.Buy one!

Sounds Great & Plays In Tune With Itself. Free Gig

Sounds great & plays in tune with itself. Free gig bag & excellent warranty. Best pocket trumpet for the money I own it! There are better pocket trumpets out there but you'd have to pay 2 to 3 times more.

My Jupiter 416bl Trumpet Is Small And Cute. It Is

My Jupiter 416BL Trumpet is small and cute. It is a nice colour and is supplied an a good quality protective case. However, tuning at the bottom of the register is very suspect, and requires some ability to "lip" these notes into tune, although the rudimentary tuning slides/"triggers" do work provided you practice with them. The valves do not tolerate any neglect which explains why the manufacturer supplies a massive bottle of valve oil with each instrument. This is a cheap, fun instrument and it is wrong to be hyper critical. The sound it produces is better than many similarly priced instruments. It is very playable and of course portable. I am a very happy owner.

Even though I haven't experienced these tuning problems & I had another pro play my trumpet with no complaints I believe you. Maybe you just got one that has problems.

Jupiter 416bl Pocket: If You Need A Trumpet For Re

Jupiter 416BL Pocket: If you need a trumpet for real music, pay the money and get a Benge or Kanstul. If you just want to be a joke trumpeter, or annoy other musicians, get one of these.

Hi, I bought a Jupiter SPT 416 in the 1980s ! Price lots less then these days. I love the valves very good action and reliable. Nice sound from a Large bore horn. I also know quality trumpets I have Bach Stradivarius trumpet ,of course Jupiter is no Bach but much better than some student trumpets. Real intermediate quality and has stood the test of time. Go Jupiter!

I've got one and they ROCK! They have their own peculiar sound, they are quite bluesy and have an airey sound as well when played quietly.

I also play a Benge and a Taylor Flugelhorn , so I know what quality is... these just sit by themselves.

Great for busking and also the jokeish appearance sets them apart. People always ask me what it is.... it sounds and looks cute and creates interest. So there to the guy that dissed them!

The Jupiter 416bl Is Without Doubt The Best Pocket

The Jupiter 416BL is without doubt the best pocket trumpet around at the price. Why buy the "next one up" (Benge) when you cannot tell the difference in sound and save £700 / £800.

Not sure how to edit my own comment yet. I ordered a Jupiter 516L but they sent a JTR710 which I understand may be the same instrument but with a new designation. I hadn't looked until ten minutes after reviewing! Other than that, my comments remain as they were.

I have just bought a Jupitor 516L Bb pocket trumpet. It is very nice but the tuning is problematic. In particular C# in the stave seems flat relative to C, which is pretty serious. The lower C# seems a little sharp but the first valve tuning slide will compensate (the tuning slide is unusually on the first valve and is on the right hand side. It has a saddle for the thumb, a little difficult to operate while playing for (my) older hands but doable)

I am trying to decide if I can control the flat tuning of the C# in the stave through embouchure.

Apart from that it sounds good and is really only for playing by myself in hotel rooms - the bell accepts a practice mute. I have not checked the tuning with the mute in yet.

I share your dislike of praising an item via knocking another. When Jazzer says, "when you cannot tell the difference in sound and save £700 / £800" he is using his own powers of discernment - he can't tell the difference. In his case he has made the right choice - there is no point in him spending more than is needed to satisfy his requirements.

This is a misguiding overstatement. There is definitely a difference between Jupiter and Benge. They clearly belong to different leagues in terms of intonation, beauty of sound and dynamics. Having played both, I decided it was worth putting extra money into buying Benge. I also find inpolite from the reviewer the practice of praising the instrument being reviewed by discrediting another, as well as lying about the price difference (which is approx. GBP 400 in fact)
