2015 Family 5 Day Trip To Levi Lapland With Thomson Holidays
Have just come back from 5 days over the Christmas hols to Lapland. It was amazing!! But I wanted to let people know mostly what to take and what not to take as I found it hard to get all the info. You don't need to take anything apart from a warm jacket to get to and from the airport as everything you will need to go outside is given to you at the airport for the very cold weather, all in one suit, gloves, boots, socks, scarves, hats. All you need to wear underneath is thermals, a t shirt and a thin fleece. We stayed in The Crazy and White Reindeer hotel. Note: White reindeer rooms are in the main hotel where as crazy reindeer rooms are located in the woods behind the main hotel and vary in size. You do not need thick jumpers in the hotel as it is always hot indoors. We went on the snowmobiles, they give you a balaclava and helmet with visor and goggles if you need them, not great for small kids as they are on a separate sleigh and you need to be over 18 to drive. We went Huskie sledging and on Reindeer sleighs, much better for smaller kids. A day trip to Santa's workshop gives you 3 hrs of pleasing yourself in the snow, meeting Santa, making cookies and mini reindeer and snowmobiles sleighing and a nice lunch. Snacks and drinks (both soft and alcoholic) in the hotel are about 2xs as much as at home, you could get away with just B&B as there were a lot of places to eat in town which is only about 5 mins walk from the hotel. Levi is a ski resort so lots of souvenir shops, cafes, supermarkets, sports and ski hire. We didn't ski so can't comment on that but did hear there was a kids zone at the top of the main slope which had good reviews.
