Love It

Decided I needed changevfrom fury hardtail and I love the banshee x 2014. Quick and easy to change front and back suspension in seconds for any trail. No problems at all.

A Piece Of Rubbish

the Carrera is a pill of balls, the rear stay will start wobbling within a week of trail riding. it comes with tiny 26inch wheels. The reason for it being son cheep is the quality of bearings and metal using.

Ok So I Got My Banshee X Sometime Last Year Now An

ok so i got my banshee x sometime last year now and well ive still got it its a nice bike rides well all components on the bike are of a good standard and realy do hold up to the beating i give my bike. i love my bommer 55rs that came on the bike that 140ml fork isnt just there for show it works a treat. my bike also came with a suntour rear shock. the shock did its job but eventualy broke like all things suntour do. thats down to suntour not halfords. ive now got an 09 verion of the rock shock monarch on my bike now it is amazing :D ive been reading alot of theese reviews that say the bikes bad dont buy one or bits are falling of and breaking. but i think thats more down to the rider than anything els. when you buy any bike you should do pre ride checks make sure everythings tight and set your suspension up. the front and rear suspension comes in a nuteral setting with no air in them and the rebound in random place. you need a shock pump for this as it puts in tiny amounts of air. ok so i ride my bike every week at chicksands bike park if anyone knows or has heard of it if not google it. been doing this for a long time 4x , downhill , dual salalom , dirt jumps and freeride. ok so drop off's , tables , gaps , fly outs and hardcore trail ridng. is there anythign this bike cant do !! i still have my bike its in one piece havent had to replace a thing since the shock. i will add that i caugth the air seal on a fallen tree whilst jumping so its my fault. so go halfords check it out !!!!!

I Have Had A Carrera Banshee For Just Less Than On

I have had a Carrera banshee for just less than one month now, been on it 3 times. The bike is great but they is a few things I would advise on first, it needs a chain protector as the chain knocks the hell out the frame, next is the one i'm complaining with at halfords as I want a new bike, please let me know what you think;

I was riding my bike as you do third time out on it not a long trip I hit a bump and the rocker that the shocks attatches to piviots, well when they gave me my bike they left the suspension shock too soft for my weight 13 stone and the rocker hit the back of the frame and has chipped it! I took it to Halfords the store manager said it's my fault as I should have set the shock! give it more pressure by twisting the shock + ways. I said it should have been setup correctly before I rode it away by yourselfs when you did the PDI. Do you think I am in the right asking for a new bike? the sale of goods act 1979 says it should be fit for purpose and last a resonable lenght of time, as when I bought it it wasn't fit for purpose for me.

Help advice appreciated

I watched them pdi my bike and set my shock up to my weaight befor leaving the store;they told me to ride it for a week then bring it back for the cables and other bits retensioning due to the bedding in period.

Defo hit them with the sale of goods act as bike NFFP as not set up for you on PDI.My own bug bare is there was no manual given to me with the sale of the bike so had to trawl the net to get to know how to adjust the suspension!

Where Do I Start With This Bike, First I Bought Th

Where do I start with this bike, first i bought the Carrera banshee. As an avid mountain biker looking to get back into the sport after a two year absence i was assured it was a nice ride and capable. On the first ride i buckled the back wheel which was not made of metal more like jelly, I was merely performing a small stoppie but it squished way out of line, along with the headset playing a lot with the raidon forks which were pants.

Anyhow, halfords said if i pay the difference they would upgrade it to the banshee X which has much better component set up. The bike does ride fairly well when it is in working order. However, I had the same problem with the chainrings as a few others however they did not come loose, they totally sheered off while pedalling fast down hill, not very good as it was pretty high speed and I was nearly dead lol. Anyhow back to halfords the bike went and i waited for a week while they repalced the bolts, they didnt however replace the bent chainrings the sheered bolts caused, just bolted the bent chainrings together with new ones. Anyhow the bike was rideable keeping off the top ring and i didnt want to miss any mroe of the short summer while halford bafoons tarted about over my brand new bike and how to fix it properly. I had about a months worth of fun until the chain snapped, and about two more days of riding before I put a crack in the swing arm. Sorry if that is the motorbike term but i mean the metal arm going from the rear mech towards the BB possible the chainstay?, I didnt realise the crack until it completely snapped about 15 miles from my home, leaving me getting the train home.

This bike is completely flawed in so many ways, the chea paint scrubs off from the break cables and gearing cables , the bottom level model is for pensioners and the components (excellent avid stoppers and mozzocchi forks)on this model are clearly out classed by a responsive and fun frame design flawed by being far too easy to break, 4 weeks riding is no good for a bike aimed at all mountain riding. I had the bike in the back of my car ready to go back to halfords, and someone threw a brick through the back window and stole it, what a muppet cos there was no way he could ride the damn cursed banshee X, no chain left, slightly buckled front wheel completely buggered frame and a bent top chainring, break it down for ebay parts he probably did but i was glad to see the back of such a wretched awful excuse for an all mountain bike which was a collateral waste of 800 pounds.

Save the extra cash, as the saying goes, pay peanuts, get monkeys. Im not sure who the biggest monkey is, me, the bike or the idiots who work at halfords?

Carrera Banshee X Some Of You People Ca

Carrera Banshee X

Some of you people cant be looking after you Banshee properly! I'v had my banshee X for 1year now and not had one problem with it. to be fair once i got it from halfords i stripped it and re set everything my self, and locktight on every bolt. i have used it a min of 1ride to 4rides a week at Glentress red/black routes and have not had one problem with any of the mecanicals on the bike.

stuff to do that i found worked:

1. set of pedals (i went for DMR V12's) lets face it the welligo's are bad pedals on a bike that price!

2. Set of grips (DMR lock ons)

3. Chain slap protector

4. Higher compound pads

5. replace the 3rd front chain ring with a bash plate

And you have a great alround bike for throwing downhill
