Sonik Sk4 Fishing Rod 13.6ft
Every there and again you purchase something that is just pure quality, you cant see a flaw or weakness in its build, and looks great too, but didn't cost you as much as other products of the same quality.
Today I'm going to give a honnest review of the Sonik SK4 Beach casting rod, and this is the 13.6ft version. I'm not going to go into too much depth, as really there is not much to say but good things, with a few minor bads. It cast up to 8oz, I cast no more than a 6oz, it has bags of power, and at my current casting efforts iv casted a measured 190 yards with a 5oz lead, I know its not like these pro field casters, but guess what, I'm not using this rod to field cast, never had a lesson, and I know with practice it can exceed well over 200 yards with ease.
Power like this does come at a cost however, and that is tip sensitivity, its not going to give much away with tiny fish, but its fine once you get to know how it responds. The whole rod from blank to tip oozes quality build, it really is right up there with the higher end rods, but at a fraction of the cost. You can get better rods with has both power and good tip response, but unless you have a spare £300 plus to spend on a rod, id take a look at the Sonik SK4.
Other than the tip response, the reel seat it comes with can, and does slip, you really have to make sure its super tight to avoid this. Also for some reason it does not come in two equal lengths, which means it can be a pain to get it into the car. I picked a new one up for £149 from ebay, you may be lucky to get one at this price or cheaper.
If you want to see it in action, do a Youtube search were you can see a few cast performed with the Sonik SK4.
