Panzer Ii

I have used my Panzer II for over 30 years. Once you work out that the original sight is useless at over 18 yds, you can design a substitute or buy a scope. I wrote to barnett and they provided me with a rear reticule and front track and peep sight. I use 1916, 13" shafts for optimum precision. The bow still groups in the 10 at 60 yds. At 18 m you have to use tripple targets or you will be buying new shafts, The original 100 lb prod is getting a bit old now and has lost about 10lb of power. I dont know why they stopped making this bow as it performs better than many later bowws and the aluminium stock is a preasure to handel

Killing Machine

I have shot my Panzer V over 100 times and have had no problems, at 50 yards I have a group of 3 arrows at about 3 inches and at 20 yards I don't dare shoot at the same target or I'll hit another arrow. I use a simmons crossbow scope and it matches perfect for the FPS.

Not Impressed

Wasn't looking for a top of the line but a good average crossbow for my son. I settled on the Barnett panzer V after reading its reviews. After about the 14th shot the little cover that goes over the tip of the bow holding the string on, blew apart during a shot. We have called Barnett customer service but have not been able to get through so we sent a e-mail and picture but have had no responce as of yet. This whole thing migtht work out but I would probally not buy another one because of the trouble getting through to customer service. I do like the feel of the bow and it looks great.

I Purchased A Barnett Panzer V Last Night. Have N

I purchased a Barnett Panzer V last night. Have never owned a crossbow in my life and I am a novice hunter at 54, I did the same thing here that I did with golf clubs, get something functional, not top end, see if it works for me and if not I'm not out a lot of money for the experience. I am impressed with the light weight and ease of use. Although the assembly instructions and manual leave something to be desired, I was able to set it up, get it sighted in and be in a tree stand with it 6 hours after it was purchased. What really surprised me was the accuracy of the cheap red dot sight. It took 6 shots to get it zeroed at 20 yards and it stayed there. At some point in the future I may get a better crossbow with a little more power and a higher end sight but I look at it this way...This bow is stong enough to take down a white tail deer at 20 yards. Being that I hunt in the North Georgia woods, I'm probably never going to see a shot longer than that during bow season and if I do have to take one longer I will wait for rifle season to open and use my 30-06. I'm impressed with this product and would recommend it to a friend. In today's day and age, it's decent value for the money. I would guess that the reviewers that poo poo this item are experienced folks who can afford something better but tried to be cheap. Good job Barnett.

Don't Know Why One Reviewer Says He Would Not Hunt

Don't know why one reviewer says he would not hunt with the Barnett Panzer V. It is more than powerful enough for whitetail deer and similar size game and I have found it to be both accurate and user friendly. The manual that comes with the bow leaves something to be desired, but that seems to be par for the course with most products now. My own bow groups two inches or so at 25 yards from a rather wobbly support bench and both field tips and broadheads (three blade 100 gr. Muzzies) penetrate a heavy foam archery target up to the fletching at that distance. Unless the deer in your neighborhood are armor-plated you will find it to be both an excellent hunting bow, particularly for the price, and a fun weapon to shoot. FYI, I have also found that Barnett's technical people provide excellent support and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

I Dont Think That The Barnett Panzer Crossbox Is R

I dont think that the Barnett Panzer Crossbox is really worth the money. Its really light weight but the string borke and limb broke after about 20 shots. I cannot find anywhere to buy a replacement limb.

I bought this just today from academy for $120. I have owned bowed previously and I know the basics of preventing string breaks and prod breaks.

#1 never dry fire- bows are one of the few types of weapons that can literally break them selves. If you fire it with no projectile that means the string is not given any type of resistance therefore the prod is allowed to vibrate so intense that it will crack the prod. This rule becomes so much more important when using a cross bow because normal bows have a max draw strength last time I check of about 75 lbs, but the panzer v has a 150 draw strength doubling that of a regular bow. Twice as powerful means this rule is more than twice as important.

#2 keep your string waxed. A few years ago I found out the hard way how important this is. I was practising with an old bow of mine in south Carolina and this bow had been sitting in my room for over a year with no waxing done to it and I had lost the wax so I thought that it wouldn't need it just yet so within 5 shots the dry string snapped and whipped my arm and it hurt like hell. With crossbows if you dont lube the center part of the string and the track often it adds a new factor to the amount of damage you are doing to it and this is called friction. If you read the owners manual they say that you should use the lube after every 5 shot and periodically if you don't use it often. Personally I recommend doing this right after assembling it out of the box (god knows how long its been sitting at the store) and before using it.

I've got one of these and have had no problems at all. The only down side is the trigger pull weight which is excessive. We even got a second trigger unit from Barnett but it was the same.

As for the apple guarantee - its utter rubbish. My son and I are competition archers, and there's no way you could hit an apple at 60 yards consistantly. Maybe with a trigger pull down around 2lbs it would improve, or perhaps a bigger apple!

We use Barnett bolts, but have recently found some on ebay that are much cheaper, and have been getting better groups. Bullseyes on a 60cm Worcester face target at 40 yards are regular, but no way at 60 yards.
