Value For Money
Lovely Location. Great Value
Just had a lovely short break at Kenegie Manor. We found this gem 9 years ago and have been every year since. With small children, older children and for get away short breaks. I think our visits total about 13 now! What brings us back is the value for money, the surroundings, the different accommodations we've stayed in, the nice pool. We just love it there! We've never had anything to moan about. Love it!!!!
Have Just Returned From A 1 Week Holiday In The Ch
Have just returned from a 1 week holiday in the cheepest advertised accommodation here, a 2 bedroomed cottage, sleeping 4-6. Went with my husband, 2 sons aged 4months and 4 years and my parents. We stay in Cornwall every year and only tried the park as our usual haunt is not open until later in the season. The accommodation was superb. We had a cosy terraced cottage with longe/diner upstairs and bedrooms downstairs.
It was clean, with many well thought out extras such as iron and ironing board, hoover and heated towel rail. There were plenty of pillows. Linen and duvets were provided and all beds were covered with a waterproof mattress protector, hence no need to wory about condition of mattress. Electric heaters were also provided for all bedrooms and the lounge (although we had no need to use them).
Site quiet with a small bar and loely heated swimming pool. Ideal as a base for exploring Cornwall but may not be quite so good if planning to stay on site all day with children.
My only criticism on the accomodation would be that although it was visibly spotless, we kept finding dog hairs everywhere an don everything, including our 4 month old baby! John Fowler is very relaxed about allowing pets but I have suggested to them that accomodation in whcih pets are allowed is only subsequently rented out to those bringing pets as it is impossible to completely remove pet hair.
Will definitely be booking next year.
We Booked At John Fowlers Kenegie Manor For A Week
We booked at john fowlers kenegie manor for a week in half term October and was pleasently surprised by this place. After reading reviews of John Fowler in Ilfracombe, where we originally booked, i was a little apprehensive. If you want a no frills holiday, with no entertainment to just use as a base then you will not be disappointed. On approaching reception we passed a number of bungalows on the right which did not look pleasing to the eye and appeared small, but when we entered the property it was large enough for the 5 of us, clean, well equipped with kitchen utensils and warm. A perfect location for visiting cornwall as it is not far, by car, to penzance or st ives. If i was asked to be really picky then all i would say is that you will need your own transport preferably with a sat nav as it can be a little difficult to find for the 1st time, the parking spaces are not well marked and we asked a member of staff for a extension lead which never materialised. Overall we found the staff, when we booked and then rearranged twice, very helpful and accomodating. All in all a good holiday.
We Regularly Stay At Kenegie Manor Park In Septemb
We regularly stay at Kenegie Manor Park in September - after the school holidays have ended. The park is quiet and does not have many facilities although the swimming pool is very good - fairly small but always lovely and warm when we have been there.
The site is very reasonable out of season and superbly placed to explore West Cornwall. To get the best out of the holiday you really need your own car as the site is a couple of miles up a country road outside Penzance. However, in Penzance you can catch the bus to most places - St. Ives, Mousehole, Lands End, Sennen Cove etc. (we frequently parked the car in a side street in Penzance and took the bus as places like Mousehole are a bit difficult for parking plus you can really enjoy the journey and of course there is the opentop bus that does a round trip via Lands End).
We were very pleased with the particular chalet we had this year as the owners had obviously re-fubished it very recently and this added to our enjoyment. [As the chalets are owned by different people the standard does vary somewhat].
I would have no hesitation in recommending this site to people but would add that it is for people who enjoy peace and quiet and make their own entertainment rather than a site for families with childrens clubs and entertainment and restaurants etc.
Having Just Read The Previous Review Of 40 Parks,
Having just read the previous review of 40 parks, and having returned home after a 10 day stay, were wondering if the previous person stayed in the same bungalow. On arrival we found it clean & tidy with what looked like a newly fitted kitchen and a recently up-graded bathroom. The bungalow is set in a quiet relaxing area, tennis courts & putting green very close to the bungalow, so we were more than happy to let our daughters go off and play, as the whole site felt safe. The pool was warm and clean and the life guard really friendly. The only down fall was the grounds were not as maintained as well as we think they should have been. All in all fantastic holiday would recommend to all.
Obviously seen through rose coloured specs or are you a friend of the owner, as you obviously didn't spot the mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the poor state of the paintwork. Yoo may have had a new fridge in the kitchen as the one installed in the previou week had a broken freezer comaprtment and the door compartments (i.e. for the milk etc) were also missing - we were promised the replacement by midweek but it didn't appear. Stillawaiting the promised letter from the owner too
Just Returned From Staying At Kenegie Manor In One
Just returned from staying at Kenegie manor in one of the privately owned bungalows (no 40 Parks). The setting was very nice and the atmosphere very relaxed and quite. The swimming pool was very well used and the water was warm. Would certainly recommend staying. However the bungalow was a different story. on arrival it was obvious that it was in need of a good clean as every surface, bedframes, window sills, work surfaces was dirty, and it appeared not to have been cleaned for many months. There was a distinct smell of mould (mould was apparent in the bathroom). The decoration was tired and in need of a lot of TLC. Complaints to the owners friend who let this to us was met with a promise to completly clean the bungalow, unfortunately, even after the 'thorough clean' which must have lasted all of 10 minutes didn't scratch the surface - not surprising that she took the visitor comments book away so that we couldn't air our views. We even had to by a new kettle and toaster as we didn't feel safe (from a cleanliness viewpoint) using them. A real shame as with a (very) good clean and attention to the decor it would have made a nice stay. A request for the owners name & address so that we could write to them was declined with a promise they would contact us - some hope (unless they read this review and wish to respond).
We Have Stayed At Kenegie Manor, Penzance On Three
We have stayed at Kenegie Manor, Penzance on three occasions. It is a small, friendly and relaxing holiday complex, which we will return to. It is an ideal location, very scenic and good value for money. Our only criticism would be the beds are a bit small and the changing rooms in the swimming pool could do with a bit of an upgrade. However, we will be back because we like the location, the accommodation and we enjoy the facilities. Although family orientated it is not overpowering with onsight entertainment. Ideal for those who want a good holiday, not a holiday camp. We found the staff (especially Jason)very friendly, accommodating and helpful.
In The Lovely Grounds Of Kenegie Manor But Rented
In the lovely grounds of Kenegie Manor but rented from the private owners, we thought this traditional stone Barn Cottage was stylish and comfortable, superbly clean, welcoming and attractive. Highly equipped for TV, DVD, music etc plus every machine and accessory you'll need in the kitchen. It's a beautiful, peaceful setting. I could have stayed in the barn for the whole time. To make the most of the location though, you should really take a car because within a short drive there were so many different types of interesting places to go to. On arrival day - although tired from travelling, it was really easy to nip over to Marazion 10 minutes away to watch the sun set over the sea and begin the holiday straight away. Parking at the barn is safe and close to the property. Although there were 'neighbours' around and the Manor centre a very brief stroll away, we felt pleasantly secluded. Can't wait to go back -so much still to do and see but we won't be too disappointed if it rains so we have to stay in the cottage!
Kenegie Manor Holiday Park Was Truly Awesome, I Kn
Kenegie Manor Holiday Park was truly awesome, I know the barns are almost empty, and yes theres no REAL on site entertainment, but it was just really really relaxing!
The price out of peak is so cheap that we used to go every year, just to drink the local cider and eat cornish pasties!
It's not the ritz, it won't impress your girlfriend, but damn its cheap!
We Have Just Returned From A Fantastic Holiday In
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in a privately run cottage at Kenegie Manor. The accommodation was clean, welcoming and had a home from home feel to it. It's location is perfect, St Ives, Lands End, Minack Theatre and much more were only a short car journey away, which was perfect for us as we have a 6 month old Daughter, and did not want to spend much time driving round.
The site was well maintained and we had a fantastic time in the pool, the temperature was perfect for our little girls first time swimming. The staff in the bar were extremely friendly and we enjoyed spending a few evenings their.
We hope to return soon.
