Too Crowded
They're bad at turning up on time. Plus, their buses are too crammed full of too many people. It's not going to bode well for the future. Very stressful for everyone who has to get your overly-crowded buses. Glad I don't get these buses that often. I'd rather learn how to drive.

On the 24th of June i waited at Galleries bus station for the X1 to Newcastle. It was due at 14.10 and did not arrive untill 14.21. When the bus arrived it clearly stated it was the X1 to Newcastle. Then at Gateshead Interchange we were told, along with all the other passengers, that we had to disembark from the bus. When asking why, the driver told us that because the bus was late she had to terminate at Gateshead Interchange and turn her bus around to go back the other way. I told her that we needed to get to Newcastle for 15.00 as the next bus we needed was the 131 to Jedburgh which only has one bus a day on and that is at 15.00. After being "thrown" off the bus we were then stranded in Gateshead with no chance of getting to Newcastle on time for us to catch our other bus at Newcastle. We had to ring our friend and ask him if he could drive all the way from Jedburgh to pick us up and then drive all the way back to Jedburgh and we had to pay him £25 for petrol as there was no other way of getting back to Jedburgh. I think getting asked to leave the bus is an absolute disgrace. Im sure another bus could have been brought in to go back the other way! I suffer from Bipolar, Anxiety and Agoraphobia so actually leaving the house and getting on a bus is a huge big deal for me. Being asked to leave the bus and being stranded for an hour untill our friend arrived has really affected me. Not what i expected on my journey at all. I complained and asked for my petrol money to be reimbursed, they replied with an offer of a "all zones day ticket" LAUGHABLE! What a complete joke they are!

Disgusting..rude...arrogant driver who parked no where near a bus stop..because 2 buses were in front of him....Chester road in Sunderland.and then said " couldn't you not even walk 2 yards to get on..."
To actually to have been able to get on his bus I would have had to cross a busy road and walk halfway down a road....all because the lazy arrogant man was too impatient to park at a designated bus stop...

Unreliable
If the only issue was that busses are consistently late it wouldn't be such a problem, but the fact they just don't turn up at all so often is absolutely ridiculous. There is no way to know this ahead of time and plan an alternative route, there is no compensation offered for the people made late by this inconsiderate company. It feels genuinely unfair that for those of us who have no alternative but to use the bus our only choice is to cross our fingers and hope a bus turns up this time. You're more like a photographer hoping for a rare bird than a citizen using essential public transport. Dire customer experience, company needs a government intervention of some kind so that customers actually have a chance at getting to work/appointments/on with their lives.
No Heating
Iam sick to death of paying for busses to get to work an to be sat freezing it's so cold I can actually see everyones breath I dont think the drivers no how to put heating on it's not verry comftorble sitting scrunched up because you that cold on ya journey
Very Rude Driver
So due to Covid, I was aware you needed a mask to go on the bus so I had it in my hand ready to put it on once I had got on the bus. I got on the bus and the driver put his hand on the ticket machine and shouted ‘put your mask on’ twice very aggressively and I thought there was absolutely no need to speak to me like that, I would have no problem if he politely asked me to put my mask on but when someone thinks it’s ok to speak to someone they don’t even know with such attitude like he did, I think it’s absolutely disgusting and in my opinion he deserves to be sacked. He’s extremely grumpy and seems to have an issue with every person who steps on the bus. He was the exact same with someone else who had a mask under his chin and gave him unnecessary attitude. Hope he loses his job, he needs to be taught some respect.

An Absolute Disgrace.

My partner and I bought our usual return tickets to Newcastle as this is our place of work.
Arrived at the usual bus stop to go home at 5.10pm and waited over an hour for the bus to arrive (Along with around 20-30 other patrons).
No signage was placed on the bus stop to state any issues and the electronic timetable guide consistently said the first bus, and then the next and then the next was due. However despite numerous others passing this one did not turn up.
Called the customer services contact number at 5.30pm and waited on hold for around 20 minutes before giving up. Another patron then informed everyone that the bus was cancelled due to some race that was going on in the city.
Called again the following day to raise a complaint and waited another 20 minutes on hold. Eventually spoke with someone in the customer services team who was very dismissive, defensive and rude. Demonstrated 0 interest in my issue and said it was tough luck and not their fault. When I asked why they were so uninterested they hung up on me after telling me I was 'whinging too much'.
To summarise the issue:
- We should have been informed by bus drive on morning about no service on evening.
- bus stop should have had signage stating this.
- electronic prompter should not have been stating the bus was due when it was cancelled.
- customer service is non existent and a disgrace for a company of your size.
This meant that Not only did we pay for 2 return tickets which Go North east could not deliver the service for, we also had to get a taxi home as no other bus runs to our home. Also wasted an hour of our time on the day and a further 40 mins to customer services next day
