Horrendous

They will give you a car with a small chip in the windscreen and try and charge you a £110 for fixing although it was already there when you took the car. We have proof but we have been told to complain elsewhere. Would not use this rental agency, too much hassle for what it’s worth. Spend more money on a better reputable company instead and it’ll save you much more!

Stay Away!!!

We booked a minivan at Manchester Airport with Green Motion car rental. It was much more expensive than we expected to pay for full insurance. We had a puncher in the front wheel a few days after using the car.Since then we have tried calling the emergency number over 30(!!!) times over 3 (!!!!) days to no avail. They only changed our car after 3 days during which time we asked for help countless times. All our plans were completely disrupted as well as our mood.It was a great mistake to rent a car with Green Motion.The worst experience we've ever had!!!Stay away!!!

Astounding Incompetence Cost Us £££

We were stonewalled by Edinburgh office desk staff who refused our credit card on the grounds that it wasn't valid for the required period of time AFTER the rental period. You would think that anyone processing credit card transactions would possess the ability to interpret the valid dates on a credit card, but sadly not this bunch! They refused to listen to reason and our bank has since confirmed they were 100% wrong. What a welcome to Scotland after 22 hours in transit! We were forced to hire elsewhere, taking an eye-wincing financial hit in the process. Two weeks after lodging a complaint and still no apology from the office in question, what a shamozzle! Avoid at all costs! Zero stars.

Abysmal. Stay Away

Abysmal. Lure you in with cheap prices, and nail you with extra charges for the tiniest, most insignificant damage imaginable. Even though I had a full video of the entire car, they found a tiny nick (<1mm) on the windscreen that doesn't show up on the video because a) the windscreen was too dirty to see it and b) it was too small to see on camera unless the light came from the right direction.

And the service is terrible - kept waiting for ages on pickup and drop-off, the car was dirty, the staff rude, and paid additional £315 in charges and damage in the hope of saving £200 over the next cheapest competitor. They're NOT cheap.

Do Not Rent From Green Motion Car Hire

I cannot believe I am having to write this… we rented a car from Green Motion in good faith, sent them the details of the flight we were on and the arrangement was to pick up the car at their offices next to Kefalonia airport. We were unfortunately on a diverted flight so emailed them to say our ETA would now be 24. Hours later. When we got there, they refused to give us the car and refused to give us a refund as it states in their terms and conditions that if you are more than 2 hours your car will be cancelled and you won’t be given a refund. Illegal? no Immoral? Most definitely. We have again emailed their head office and have received no reply. They have also disabled the links on trip advisor and Facebook so that no one can make a post. If someone reading this belongs to Green Motion you should be ashamed of yourselves and I cannot believe you treat your customers WHO PAY IN ADVANCE IN GOOD FAITH in such an immoral way. If you respected your customers and valued them you would not get customers like me who will now do everything they can to protect others.

Be Warned

Greenmotion advertise through broker rentalcars. Com, no deposit car hire. After i payed broker i received a collection voucher from greenmotion. Car was not there at the airport and i was taken by a rep 3 miles from airport to a business park where a deposit of £2005 was demanded. Rep was well rehearsed in the situation, unhelpful, unsympathetic and refused to cancel the booking and refund me. Greenmotion left a disabled person stranded with no transport 3 miles from the airport. Good job i didn@t agree to pay a deposit - chances of gettng it back in full within a reasonable time are slim according to other reviews. Be warned. Need for deposit should be made perfectly clear before booking. It was most definitely not.

Avoid Like The Plague

avoid in every cost they are the worst company ive ever used, staff are very rude and not help full at all, gave me a un road worthy car and even broke down just after picking the car up due to the lack of fuel good job i had just pulled into the fuel station and had to be helped by other people to push the car to the pump. a full to full policy with green motion means nothing, i had a car with a slow puncher and was told not to use the tyre inflation kit just to pump it up as if you use the repair kit we have to replace the tyre.

you read reviews on various websites and dont believe things like this happen but with green motion, its almost everything ive read bad happens and will never use this company

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Don't Choose This Company. They Want To Earn On Damages!!!!

DON'T CHOOSE THIS COMPANY! THEY WANT TO EARN FROM FALSE DAMAGES!

We had just gave the car back that had no additional scratches. We had taken some photos and looked at the car before we rented it. It was without any scratched or damages that you could see with you eye.

We didn't take photographs when giving it back.

Also there was no worker/employee there to look at the car when renting it out to us and when we were dropping it off!

We got and email that apparently it has scratches. They look like they would require strong mechanical movements. WE DIDNT DO THAT!  

Don't use this company ever. We have had borrowed cars from different companies all around the world. And this is the first time we have encouraged such.

The cheap price is just a way to attract you to choosing this company. 

You are a shame for doing it Green Motion.

WE WILL NEVER USE YOU AGAIN AND NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE!!!!! WHAT A DISGRACE!!!!

Please always renters check reviews!!! This company isn't the right pick!

Be Very Careful Of The Headline Price

Green Motion offer a very cheap headline price, but be careful.

I hired a car from GM London City airport. The service is slow, but friendly. Insurance is super expensive, and I heard one of their staff explain to a customer that the had nothing to do with the insurance should there be a claim and that customers had to take up the issue with the insurance company directly. The cost and the process does not encourage you to take extra cover.

Hand over of the car was pretty thorough, much like most companies.

however, the return of the vehicle took an age with their staff going over the car in great detail.

It seems I managed to 'damage' a hub cap. There was an 8mm scratch, and approximately 3 cms away, two further scratches which measured 1mm and 3mm respectively. GM insisted that this was all one damage, and therefor outside of their 15mm cost free damage matrix. I was forced to pay £154 in costs.

Does anyone really check a whole car for 1mm and 3mm damage marks?

I have subsequently asked for a copy of the repair invoice - they have declined as they will not get the car repaired.

I have offered to buy a new wheel for the car and have it replaced, about half the charge - they have declined.

In short, it seems to me that GM offer the carrot of a cheap rate to get you hooked, but will look for every single way possible to recoup their shortfall and I am sure you could hire a car at an overall cheaper rate with a more reputable company. The fact they acted in a really smarmy way in subsequent conversations has made me even more unhappy. Don't use GM unless you are really sure you can take a car back without a SINGLE mark on it

Not Over Impressed

This service is difficult to use - trek to the Holiday Inn by bus; slow, laborious check in for the car - proof of everything needed - they tried to sell me unnecessary insurance. The car was as requested, but it was scratched in a range of places - clearly not repaired from previous rentals. I have tried to reclaim my hopper bus fare, but there’s no route via the Web site that I can see. Overall, it felt like a chore.
