Hertz At Heathrow Airport Are Total Shammers. Afte

Hertz at Heathrow Airport are total shammers. After booking and paying for a car several months in advance, we were told upon arrival that the car we booked was not available with a GPS and we would have to spend over $2000 extra Australian dollars to get a car with a GPS. On complaining while on our trip, we were told we ‘could have waited 15 minutes for a car that we ordered to come in with a GPS’. We were not told this at the time of pick up- we were made to feel we had no option to take the bigger car with a GPS. I would never recommend Hertz, Heathrow to anyone and will never use Hertz ever again. Extremely poor customer service and only after your money. Enterprise car hire, who we used on another trip were ten times better than Hertz.

Charged €380 for a stone chip on windscreen took photos can be seen on trip advisor which we’re slightly bigger than the tip of a ball point so small I couldn’t see it without my glasses on what do they expect you to do dodge stones flicked up. any other other company this would be fair ware and tare Hertz Paphos airport you are in it to rip people off especially if you think they have full insurance which we didn’t but the guy on the counter said we did and just make a claim. I had standard insurance with an excess of €600.

Overcharged

After successfully returning the car and having a member of staff inspect the car and check the fuel was full I later checked my credit card statement and had been over charged by £100.

Avoid Avoid Avoid

Rented from Hertz & Firefly (same) at Paphos airport Cyprus.

Following the handbrake skipping, car rolled back at grazed the bumper, not dented only grazed, a €200 repair maximum.

Despite it being the handbrake, and the car was older, they took over £1,000 from our bank account, the car was old!!

Never ever choose Hertz or Firefly, 1. They don’t accept the insurance if taken out at 3rd party booking 2. They took £1,000 from our bank account for a €200 repair.

If you had insurance through a third party as you say, providing you give them the necessary paperwork that they require, i.e. Contract showing additional charges, your credit card receipt, a copy of the accident report and a copy of your credit card statement showing the charges, you get your money back. That's what happens with these booking agents. If you didn't buy their extra insurance when booking and you didn't buy extra insurance when you picked up the car, the problem is then yours. You should read the small print, ALWAYS. If you didn't, then it's your own fault. All major car hire companies operate like this.

Dont Go Near !!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS…

This company is part of a group of four. Hertz, Thrifty, Dollar, and Firefly. Their practises are verging upon illegal and at best very shady business. Prepare to take out extortionate extra insurance, pay for breakdown cover !! and if you have your own excess cover you will suddenly discover that you are accused of marking the car you rented and receiving a fictitious claim for payment knowing that your insurance company will pay. Beware also the search groups that recommend these hire companies because the search groups are owned by Hertz too. ON NO ACCOUNT RENT ANYTHING FROM ANY OF THESE COMPANIES !!!

Hertz Darlington, Nowhere Near The Cheapest Hire

Took a weeks hire on a small car as I had shopped around and Hertz came first for price(or so I thought).

6 days hire came in at £97.

The assistant asked if I was interested in taking "Super Cover" as I was being hired a new car and Super Cover would negate any costs for scratches.

"Whats it gonna cost me" says I.

"You'll pay a total of £149" said the sales assistant.

Now I weighed up the option and thought yep, I will go for that, it will save a fortune if anything goes wrong.

I walked out with my white slip (didn't need to check it as the sales assistant had been so helpful,) and drove away in the new car.

At end of hire I took the car back and found out that the £97 hire had not turned into a £149 hire, (plus the dreaded VAT of course), it had in fact turned into a final total of £295 inc VAT.

Obviously the "Super Cover" is pushed onto the unsuspecting renter because the sales assistant gets a nice little kick back from the insurance company as do Hertz.

For me, it's not just the money, it is the betrayal I felt from a company I had rented from a few times before.

If this is how they treat their regular customers on a normal no damage hire, then just imagine how they act should you be unfortunate enough to have an accident.

My advice, Go Elsewhere to hire a vehicle, Hertz may appear to be the cheapest but believe me, when you add on all the extra's and you endure the lack of appreciation from them, you will be better to steer clear.

Disappointed With Hertz

I was totally dissatisfied with my Hertz car rental at the Las Vegas McCarren Airport. Approximately a month in advance, my wife and I rented over the internet an "intermediate-sized" car from the McCarren Airport Hertz Car Rental kiosk. The images on the home page showed Malibu's as examples of "intermediate" size vehicles. We called to verify our rental availability the day before our flight from PA to Vegas, emphasizing the need for an "intermediate-size" car because we had two adults and two children plus their luggage for a week's stay in Vegas to put in the car. We were arriving at 12:30 am Vegas time. When we arrived we were given a Kia Soul, a car the Kia web-page calls a "sub-compact," which it definitely is! We had to have our children, 14 and 17, sit on and hold luggage because there was so little room behind the back seat. When pointed out to Hertz that even Kia called the Soul a "sub-compact," the counter person, then the manager, indicated that in Vegas it was an "intermediate." We will never again use Hertz Car Rental and suggest that anyone considering doing so, reconsider. We also rented a car from Alamo Car Rental and received a Ford Edge, a true intermediate-size vehicle, and were completely satisfied with their service. Lesson learned, go Alamo (or anywhere other than Hertz) to rent a vehicle. I cannot vouch for any car rental company other than Alamo, BUT anywhere else has to be at least equal to Hertz if not better!

Hertz Bournemouth Airport Sucks - The Personnel Too

Hertz Bournemouth Airport - DO NOT RENT CARS IN HERTZ

1- I rented a car, they gave me a VAN, with no rare window, they didn't have another car.

2-I drop off the car when the agency was closed, Initially they wanted to charge me 307£ for damages, and now they are asking to pay for 358£ for damages.

3-The car wasn't clean.

4-They offer to give you the car on the train station but by mistery they call you the same day to tell you that you need to pick up the car in the airport (15 min -17 £ away from the train station)

5-They say on the site that when you drop off the car in the Bournemouth Airport Branch, they're in charge of your commute to the train station, when I arrives to the Bournemouth airport, they told me that the service was no longer available, so (15 min-17£ to the train station)

6-When they first sent me the email with the invoice of 308£ for damages, they didn't tell that the invoice may vary after, and 2 weeks later they sent me an email saying that the NEW final invoice was 358£, 50£ more..

Worst service ever, and also the personnel that was in the Hertz Bournemouth Airport, oh my god, please for the next time you need to hire a proper person with a little of quality in customer service.

Worst experience ever.

Charged For Items After We Give The Keys Back....

the car was extremely underpowered and rubbish left in from previous rental...

we filled the car up to the brim at the last filling station outside the airport. it was then a very slow 5 min drive to the car drop off point.

they charged me an additional 9 euros for fuel and a filling charge... its very convenient that the key had to be left in a drop box..

Useless

Picked up a car after a delayed flight from Christchurch to Auckland. It was already gone midnight. I'd requested a child seat for my 6 year old. They provided a baby / toddler seat. They had no other seats available and said there was no possibility of sorting it that night. Guy on the desk showed little interest and a complete lack of initiative. I had to ask the neighbouring car hire companies if they had a seat - they didn't. Only suggestion was to get a taxi to hotel and come back at 8 AM to sort. It was already 1 AM by now and the cost of taxis in and out of Auckland Centre would have been a lot. I drove the car without a child-seat after being told (incorrectly)by a member of the public that 110 cm was the legal height for a child to not need a seat. Turns out Hertz have a central Auckland office the guy on the desk failed to tell me. When we phoned customer services we got passed from pillar to post. Eventually someone said they would sort and get back to us. When after 2 hours someone got back their first question was "what's the problem?". They eventually did sort it at the central Auckland office but not after wasting a lot of our time. I will never use them again - a truly awful experience and the only black mark on an otherwise wonderful trip. If by ticking the box for a childseat this means up to the age of 4 why can't they clarify that. I don't consider 6 years old to be an adult. Why can't they keep a few seats at the airport office just in case.

Rating - 1 star because 0 stars wasn't an option.
