Easy, Friendly And Nice Car

On pick up the staff were very helpful. The shuttle from the airport easy and the upgrade for our birthday a very lovely surprise.

The car was clean and seemed to be well looked after and the collection inspection through but efficient. Dropping off at Heathrow even easier (once we found it). Had a good set up there and easy shuttle to the airport. Very quick easy and friendly check-in. Kudos to National. If I had to pick one thing that could be improved, it was getting the directions to the drop off location. The London Heathrow location is not easy and we had to call to get the directions on a recorded message. We were ok as we had 2 in the car so one could drive and the other take note of the directions. If there was one in the car, this would have been impossible to be driving on the M25 and getting the directions.

Worst Experience Ever Had In Renting A Car

Booked car for the US through the UK organisation. They couldn't set up the transaction correctly in the system which meant 2 hours trying to get a car in the pickup depo and then an hour the following day trying to still get it sorted. Ended up having to pay twice and now having to claim the charge back on the card myself through the bank.

Managers in the Las Vegas office were good. Ultimately outside of their control and they couldn't even get head office to sort it.

Apparently it has happened a few times recently and no one is telling them how to sort it, other than to put the customer in the position of paying twice and going back and sorting themselves.

Last thing you need after a long flight and wasting best part of half a day of your holiday.

Very Poor Customer Support

I'd booked a vehicle on line through the National website taking care to ensure that I could both alter or ammend the booking and not incur any fees. I subsequently found the need to add a day to the hire period. All seemed to work well through the link which came with the booking until it came to inputting my credit card details. I had expected an increase to pay but found that rates had dropped and I was due a refund. That's as far as it got as the website just kept deleting the credit card details and eventually gave a message to try again later.

I rang the National number given on "contact us". The first person couldn't help and transferred me. The second was the same saying she would transfer me to the USA at the place of hire. The "USA" person couldn't help and her supervisor was the same - they were in India, it being night time in the USA.

No one at National can apparently alter an on line booking. This is to protect the customer I was told when ringing the first number again.

A helpful lady eventually grasped the nettle and emailed their office in the USA to ensure that the vehicle would be available for the extra day - I await confirmation 6 hours later. So much for getting the refund - too much reliance on computers with no back up when they dont work. Absolute rubbish.

I wanted to confirm my reservation on the phone with someone because I am under 25 and wanted confirmation I would definitely be able to rent the car. I spoke to a woman on the phone who was extremely unhelpful and vague. Website is a lot more user friendly than customer service call line.

Hung Up On Me

I called to try to extend my reservation for one day. the call centre made me hold for 15 minsv before answering. was then told they couldn't help me and would pass me to a supervisor. in actual fact I was just put back in to the call centre queue for 15 mins and when the call was picked up the person knew nothing and I had to go through the same process. they then told me they couldn't change it as it was "closed out". I asked what that meant and if I could contact someone to change it. he kept repeating he could t do anything because it was closed out. he then hung up on me. ignorant and I will not only not recommend this company I will make a point of telling people not to use them.

Robbed And Ripped Off!

When my friend and I rented a car we got charged $300 extra because we rented it from Nevada and dropped it in New York City. This we thought was fair enough. We went on our holiday and eventually dropped it off in New York. Everything went fine and we dropped it off no problems. Then I realised I'd left my sunglasses in the car... this was when the problems started. We went back for the sunglasses on the very same day and told the lady at the desk our problems. She told us it might be in the lost property box but she couldn't open it because she didn't have the keys... fair enough. She told us we could ask the men outside who parked the car. We went outside and the first guy said he wasn't sure as the car may already be on its way back to Nevada. We though this was strange as we'd only just given it back earlier that day but he told us to go ask someone else. We went and asked another employee taking the cars. I told him what car it was and he said he'd go and find it. He left us standing there for about half an hour. Then returned saying sorry the car has only just been rented out, but it will be back on Monday. I have checked the lost property box and the sunglasses are not in there. (This was strange as it was just being rented locally now, not being sent back to Nevada? Which we'd paid an extra $300 for! And also he was telling us he'd checked the lost property box which the lady at the front told us was locked and couldn't be opened until the following day!?) The employee was then smiling at our disappointment of not getting the sunglasses back!? And just said it was unlucky and told us to apply online to get them back and then sent us on our way. We then double checked with the lady at the front it had been sent out and she said it had only just been sent out a couple of minutes ago and was to be back a week Sunday. A totally different day to the man we'd just spoke too. And still the car wasn't going back to Nevada!? It was just ridiculous. No ones story matched up and it was clear one of the employees had just stolen them and they made no effort to make it up to us. They just told us to apply online because they knew it would be taken of their hands, be a very long process and we'd get no where. The customer service for this company was the worst I have ever witnessed.

Bad Online Booking Experience

Booked on line and obtained what I needed at a price I wanted to pay. Went all the way through to payment and the booking did not go through. Rang National who said that their web site was down and to try again in a few minutes. Went back on line, same deal not shown. The rates were now higher for less options.

Ended up paying more for less. Not very impressive.

i booked a hire car from Belfast city airport. I arrived at the airport and couldn't find a national or enterprise desk so I called the number on my booking and found out I had to wait for a mini bus to come and take me to the city centre. if I had wanted to travel into the city centre I would have booked a car from the city centre ! due to traffic this process added an hour to my day, or rather took an hour from my working day. I had to beg a free sat nav from the kind staff at enterprise, not because I needed it to get to where I was going, purely to enable me to get back to the city centre location I had to return the car to. returning the car to the city centre also took anther hour from my working day. if I book a car from an airport I do not expect to have to travel to or return to a city centre and have to battle city centre traffic. I found the entire process stressful. I hire cars on a frequent basis and will not be using you again when have trips to Belfast. My booking clearly states Belfast City airport not Belfast city centre !
