Racist Comments By The Representive At Pegasus,wellington

We had rented a car at Pegasus Rental cars, Wellington branch. We were told that after using the car we can park it near the airport and is only a less than 5 minute walk. Since we were travelling with elderly people to wellington , we wanted a car which we can park and walk very less to airport.

But we were asked to park a car at a place which is between 12 to 15 minute walk and we had a discussion with the person who was handling us at the reception that day.

He was being very mean to us and also racist. He said "This is why I do not do business with "YOU PEOPLE". The "Kiwis" do not have a problem walking , it is "YOU PEOPLE" who complain. I do not like to do business with "YOU PEOPLE".

These were his exact words.

We are all humans right? Then why differentiate us calling "YOU PEOPLE" ?

The car that was provided to us was very old, uncleaned and mainly had no AC. It was peak summer and he gave us a car that had no AC. Since we were on a 1 day visit to Wellington with elders , we did not have much time to look for another rental car company and book another one. We went with the old dirty suffocating car Pegasus gave us after being insulted with racist comments.

Worst experience. It upset our mind and spoiled our day. I would never ever suggest Pegasus rental cars to anybody as they are racist,mean and extremely poor customer service with poor condition car. I do not know about other branches. I am particularly talking about the Wellington branch and the guy who attended us.

The Car Was 17yrs Old I Had Requsted A Manual But

The car was 17yrs old I had requsted a manual but was given automatic and told I could have a manual one three days later I picked this up at Blenheim airport this car broke down out in the bush or the wilds my son and his family were in their car in front of us me flashing the lights on our heap caught his attention,he could not get a signal on his mobile phone and to drive to Nelson to a Pegasus branch.It took them 3hrs to send a recovery lorry. Avoid this company at all costs.

Pegasus Car Rental charged for damage that was not caused by us to the value of $255. Seriously unimpressed.

I Hired A Car From Pegasus Which Was Returned With

I hired a car from Pegasus which was returned without any problems. 1 week after leaving the country they cashed my bond, during numerous frustrating calls they admitted that the bond should not have been cashed and that it was an administrative error. I was sent on a wild goose chase where calls were not returned and people who could help where never available, I have to claim against my credit card company.

Pegasus Failed To Met Us At The Christchurch Airpo

Pegasus failed to met us at the Christchurch Airport as arranged and without the vehicle they had promised. This was explained to us as having had occurred because the company representatives had gone to bed and fallen asleep. They were virtually uncontactable as the direct line from the Airport information board went through to an answering machine which told me that the offices were currently unattended. After numerous attempts the Airports information officer reached an after hours contact who arrived at the airport almost half an hour later. We were then transported to an industrial estate to pick up our vehicle.

Whilst signing the appropriate forms we were repeatedly told of the shortfall between what we as renters paid and what the company actually received. We explained to the company rep that the business deal with Pegasus and the ski fields booking agent was between them and nothing to do with us as renters.

The company rep then wanted to charge extra for the chains and racks event hough these items had been included on the skifields booking form cost calculator.

The over 10 year old rental performed well and gave us no trouble. On our return to our country our credit card was subsequently debited for the chains and roof racks which we were notified of via email.

We were also charged a cleaning fee for some mud around the wheel arches which I have no grievance with. If you rent with this company be aware they can be unreliable and if you return the car after hours it will be to a dark industrial estate where you will have arrange your own transport to the airport or wherever
