A City Worth Visiting, Just For The Experience!

I booked a weeks break through LowCost Holidays and had a fabulous time. From the easyjet flight, the meet and greet at the airport and hotel, everything went so smoothly. The holiday rep was so helpful and pointed out all the worthwhile attractions to see, supplying us with map and taking us to the bus stop to show us how to get into the city - couldn't fault him. The hustle and bustle of the city is certainly worth the experience, as was the trips we made out into the Atlas Mountains. Can certainly recommend Marrakech for a short, busy city break (but not for those seeking rest and relaxation!) Be prepared for lots of haggling and bartering! The food is fantastic but be prepared for the odd stomach upset (unavoidable I think if you eat on the night market)and be prepared for lots of heat! Take hand spray and rennies and you will have a ball!

Not My Cup Of Tea At All. We Went To Ma

Not my cup of tea at all.

We went to Marrakech for a friends wedding. Its worth noting that we had extensive building works going on at our house, so went a few days earlier to have a bit of a break and a relaxing time before the wedding party arrived.

This isn't the right place to go for a relaxing break!

We'd book into a Riad in the centre of the old, walled town. This was our first mistake.

Whilst its culturally very interesting (and it really is) its definitely not a place to go to unwind and relax.

The centre is very, very in your face. Being coming up to you constantly, hazardous little winding roads with scooters whizzing past you and not the easiest of places to navigate in.

The very centre is really interesting - little traders, food stalls and the like - worth a visit, but not a great place to stay in for an unwind.

The surrounding countryside was lovely (we played golf and then later in the week stayed in an amazing boutique hotel in the countryside, where the wedding was)

The food is generally pretty poor (a few instances of food poisoning in our group) and its also a 'dry city' - ie for religious reasons alcohol is not freely available (again, this is totally fine if you're visiting briefly, but if you want to stay somewhere and have a few glasses of wine with your dinner its sometimes hard to find a restaurant that will serve you.)

For me, the centre of Marrakesh is an experience worth having (3 hours should do it...), but its definitely not a relaxing, unwinding place for a holiday - and for that reason I wouldn't recommend it
