Rundown, Dirty And Unfriendly
Where to begin! The Coliseum used to be a decent place to stay. Not anymore. We arrived to be told the apartments were overbooked and would we mind staying in a studio until one was available. We agreed and went into a decent enough studio.
The next day we saw the pool was filthy and during our stay we only saw cleaned once. The Pool bar area too was dirty looking with staff that seemed annoyed you were bothering them. The rooms were 'cleaned' by emptying the bin...and that was it! They employ one cleaner for the entire complex! Once a week sheets were changed. One toilet roll was provided on arrival and that was it! The bin bags were replaced with our OWN carrier bags when emptied!!!
We moved into our 'apartment' 3 days after we arrived and to be honest wished we'd stayed in the studio! The apartment was two bedrooms, a bathroom and kitchen....with no actual living area at all!!! These apparently sleep 4. There were 2 mugs 2 plates, and 2 paper plates and some plastic beakers left over from the previous owners! The table in the kitchen leaned to the right alarmingly and looked like it was found on a tip! The 'view' from our balcony looked down onto the back of the coliseum restaurant and convinced us never to ever to eat there!
The bathroom was never cleaned the whole 2 weeks we were there.
The botonical gardens used to be lovely but the owner has let them go and they are in a poor state. No wonder no tour operators have the coliseum.
Thankfully my wife and i found the Chrysanthi next door to be friendly, clean and very welcoming, so we used that during the day. We will never stay at the coliseum again but the Chrysanthi will definitely get our custom again.

We Had A 14 Hour Delay With Viking Airways So When
We had a 14 hour delay with Viking Airways so when we arrived in the early hours of the Thursday morning 1st July, 10 we were very tired. We were greeted by the owner Paul who told us we were staying over in the Coliseum 2 because we had booked bed and breakfast. We where shown to our room in the block facing the pool. We were dissapointed because the room was very small and no facilites apart from a fridge not even any where to make a cup of tea. The rooms are very close to the bar Pefki by night so the music was loud up until at leat 1clk in the morning. We did ask to moved because of the noise but where told that the other rooms were full. We were advised to keep the patio doors closed and the noise from the aircon should cover the noise from outside. Not the answer we were hoping for. We paid for bed and breakfast so the first morning we went down and was told it was tea or coffee and toast that was all we were allowed what a joke. The only good thing was the pool is was big and clean. Would I go here again NO think there are a lot nicer places in Pefkos.

I WAS ATTACKED BY THE OWNER - DO NOT STAY OR EAT HERE
I have visited Pefkos twice and on my second visit one night I decided to go to the Coliseum Restaurant for my evening meal. I had to complain about the super fast service as they didnt give you time to finish the courses. The main dish was terrible and resembled dog food. I then found an army of cockroaches running in and out of the kitchen. I asked for the bill and decided to complain. The waiter I complained to didnt treat me with any respect and he pointed to who I should complain to. I approached the American guy who I have since found out his name is Paul. I politely explained my concerns and said I was happy to pay for part of the bill. He became very abusive and rude and said he was going to call the Police to which I replied that this was fine and that I was happy to pay for part of the bill. He just got more and more abusive as I think he didnt want to call the Police over a bill. I decided to leave him to it and left the restaurant. He followed me a very short way and in front of all the diners and tavernas he tried to drag me down a driveway. I held onto the railings for dear life and screamed at him to get off of me knowing that I couldnt go any further down the driveway and out of view of people. A kind waiter and a lady were shouting at him that he couldnt do this to people and the waiter said that I should go to which I replied that I was happy to pay for part of the bill. I took the waiters advice and left very bruised and shaken. I have never been so frightened and had very bruised arms which I have photos of.
The lovely people of Pefkos were horrified and not happy about the way I was attacked. I will not let a nasty man like that put me off travelling on my own, I am always careful but some things are just out of your control.

Visit was for Leisure
im am shocked to hear this ladies report of her experience, it sounds like a nightmare.
i have eaten in the coliseum restaurant every time i visit pefkos, and my family, friends and i have never had anything but amazing food and service.
and we have eaten there at different times of the season over the past 11 years.
i would still eat there again, and would recomend it to anyone.
I dont know the real cause of her distress, and i hope she recovers

We Were Happy With The Location, Having Been To Pe
We were happy with the location, having been to Pefkos several times before, however found the owner/manager to be overbearing and rude. Room was unlockable and despite many repeated reminders this was never repaired, we were told crime did not exist in Pefkos and not to worry. Thieves of course do not holiday!!The room was adequate, but standard of cleanliness was poor, with stains on walls and floors not cleaned at all. Pool toilets doors did not close and had poor cleanliness and gaping holes in wall.Lighting up staircases not working nor outside rooms, sensors fitted but not working.Sheets were threadbare and bobbly, taken, washed and replaced with no spares by the only cleaner in entire complex, meaning beds were unmade all day.Restaurant staff took over the swimming pool most afternoons, bombing and causing disturbances, meaning most guests left the pool. All were non-Greek and lacked the friendly, pleasant humour Greeks have.Generally very poor in my opinion and this place lets down Pefkos which is an excellent holiday location, with great restaurants and lovely people. Will not be returning to Coliseum apartments or restaurant.

This Was Our First Time In Rhodes And We Thought T
This was our first time in Rhodes and we thought that Pefkos was a great place to stay, especially as we have young children.
The Coliseum restaurant was fantastic and we ate in there several times.
I don't know why people complained about the cleanliness, it was very clean when we were there. We ran out of clean towels on our last night and it wasn't a problem for the staff to get us fresh towels (even though we were leaving the next day)
One thing for improvement, you could do with a broom or dustpan and brush in the apartment.
But on the whole very good and would def return!

The Coliseum Apartments Were Recommended To Us By
The Coliseum Apartments were recommended to us by friends who have stayed there before, who were also holidaying in Pefkos nearby. They were appalled at how standards at Coliseum had dropped, and would certainly not recommend it again. Staff seemed disinterested in solving complaints. The pool was cleaned after complaints. Other holiday-makers there at the same time also raised concerns.

The Coliseum Apartments Are Great, Staff Are Excel
The Coliseum Apartments are great, staff are excellent and can not do enough for you, Anna during the day in the pool bar and Costa at night. Also if you went to the restaurant at night Paul would ensure you have one of the best meals in the resort.
On the whole a good resort for families of all ages who don't mind a little night life. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and we were a group aged 10 to 40 odd. Plenty of resturants and places to go and a nice base to visit other parts of the island.
