Pefkos, Melfe Villas

We stayed at the Melfe villa June 2009 (2 adults, 2 young kids). Lovely villa, lovely town, lovely people. Looking forward to returning in 2010.

Villa Melfe Pefkos Rhodes 2 week stay sept 2009.

My family & I love Pefkos and have travelled there many times. After a number of years staying at various aparthotels I decided to search for a villa in Pefkos, near to all amenities that was good value for money. It was pure luck that I found the Villa Melfe!!( What a find as well!!)

Initially I must admit that I was a tad reluctant to transfer money by inter bank transfer as the owners Eleni & Menios, had no facility to take credit card. however, I agreed via e-mail with eleni a small dposit and the large balance paid when we arrived.

We were picked up at the airport by a taxi driver friend of Eleni & Menios and when we arrived there was Eleni, Menios and their children to welcome us to their Villa. their welcome was so nice,warm and so typical greek...a lovely way to arrive.

Eleni & Menios had bought in food,tea bags,milk etc for us to use to save us going out...brilliant!!

The Villa (one of two semi's) is in a fantastic spot, literally in the heart of Pefkos, yet away from any noise down a private lane. It is nestled in a nice plet with Menios's uncle's apartment and swimming pool next door ( not overlooking). Menios's uncle was great and so friendly , as was his dad who came along , said hello and had a chat...so friendly. later he brought us some sea salt & olives from his own trees. I can't so enough how friendly the whole family are.

The Villa is wonderful!. It was built and fitted out as if it was for Eleni & Menios own residence and it really does show. The bedrooms and living, dining room, kitchen are all well furnished. There are two balconies, one downstairs and the other on the first floor which opens out from the french style doors in both bedrooms. Taking breakfast on either balcony was a simple yet great way to start a day and of course you have the wonderful greek blue sky!! The baconies are also brilliant for sitting out in the evening for a pint or glass of wine.

The villa sit's next to Menios's uncle's aparthotel and you can use the swimming pool. Great pool and pool bar for a drink or snack. Menios's uncle quickly knew who we were and went out of his way to welcome us.

Eleni & Menios, have had to put their all into this letting venture and I'm glad they have taken the gamble ( they have a young family) because as word spreads it is going to be a real success. Im sure!!

As the villa is so central everything and I maen everything , whether it's beach, shops, bars, restaurants etc is noi more that a few minutes gentle walk.

Finally, we discovered that Menios is the cousin of Tsambika, the oqner of Coralli's restaurant, on the outskirts of Pefkos. For anyone who knows Pefkos this is the lady of all ladies who runs the best restaurant/taverna in Pefkos, in our opinion. If you go to Pefkos you MUST make sure you visit Coralli's. (If you do say hello to Tsambika a wonderful lady, incredibly friendly and warm who cannot do enough for you....and wait until you taste the food!!!!)

I have been vacationing in Rhodes for many years. Pefkos was always my favorite resort and this year we decided to rent a villa there. I searched all over the internet debating about many other choices and finally found Melfe Villas. As the villas are new (2008) I checked the internet for reviews and did not find many but, decided to take a chance and book anyway. Wow!!! Everything turned out magnificently. The villa was beautiful and in an excellent location walking distance to all (restaurants, supermarket, bakery, bars, beach, rent a car). It was very quiet, maintained to the highest standards, and cheerfully decorated with excellent taste. The owners have worked very hard to make these villas the perfect home away from home for their guests. As this was a self catering accomodation, we were not left completely on our own. The owners are a quick phone call away (phone in villa too) and will answer any question that comes up or help you with other travel questions. Some extras which came in very handy were a powerful blowdryer (important for me as I have long hair)free WiFi (We have 2 businesses in the US and had to work on vacation) and a fully equipped kitchen (high end appliances). I was travelling with my husband and 80 year old mother and the villa was so spacious that we could have invited more friends or family to stay with us and would still have been comfortable. In addition to the fabulous interior, there are 2 large sitting areas outside(porch on first level and balcony on 2nd level-both accessed by bedrooms upstairs) and a large yard full of flowers, herbs and fruit trees. Well, I admit, I wanted to keep this a secret but, after our 2 week stay, the day I was leaving I gave Eleni (the owner)a deposit to reserve a villa for us again for 2 weeks next year so, now the secret is safe to share. I highly recommend Melfe Villas to anyone wishing to rent a villa in Pefkos. You will not be disappointed.
