Los Gigantes, Los Gigantes Hotel

First, the good bits:

The location, the view, the pool, the restaurant, the staff (most of them), the weather.

Now the bad:

Misleading information fed by Thomson staff prior to booking; lies told by one reception staff member; the noise on the "town" side of the hotel til midnight every night; the attitude of "some" Thomson reps; the entertainment.

You want more?

The Hotel has recently had a re-furb that was long overdue. Now it has a "white" clinical touch. This is tasteful but appears to have been done on the cheap. It is a shame as some of the Hotel's character has been thrown out with the old fittings.

The staff go out of their way to be very pleasant which is why so many older folk go back time and time again. You will often see the manager, Restaurant manager and Head Waiter all "mucking in".

If you want a "quiet" time, make sure you book a sea view (this will cost extra) and a high floor. These rooms will not be available when you get to the Hotel as they are all booked in advance.

If you have not been to Los Gigantes (the resort) before, it has a few reasonable bars but nothing really 5 Star.

The Los Gigantes Hotel is not for the under fifty's who want good entertainment.

Sounds good, and it is but we we not be going back? Why? One word...

"THOMSONS" - their lies ruined our holiday.

The Noravirus was rampant into this hotel. numerous guests including ourselves went down with severe vomiting and diarrhoea. As the symptoms started on our second day and we never recovered until we returned the holiday was a disaster. This virus we understand had been on and off at the hotel since early 2010 and we fail to comprehend why our tour operator,Thomson's did not inform us of this illness before departure. we would recommend to anyone thinking of booking a holiday at this hotel that they obtain written confirmation from Thomsons that the virus is no longer present at the hotel. We are pursuing a compensation claim with Thomsons. The only plus point was the hotel staff would dry to make our discomfort as easy as possible but in all honestly guests should not be sent here. One lady was admitted to hospital.

Los Gigantes Hotel was very friendly hotel. Very helpful staff and management. Two swimming pools, the laargest of which is a salt water pool. Plenty of sunbeds and a nice quiet pool area if you dont like being with the masses. I thought the evening entertainment is a bit amateurish, but they did put their life and soul into it. My family and i spent a lovely week at this hotel during July 2008. We booked a suite which has the most magnificent views of the beautiful sea cliffs of Los Gigantes. The hotel has mostly British (Thomson) guests who are made very welcome by the very friendly hotel staff.

The dining room is pleasant and caters for all tastes.

The hotel features two swimming pools. The main sun deck area features the larger of the two pools which is salt water with ample sunbeds.

There is a smaller fresh water pool to the side of the hotel which was my favourite area to chill out and had magnificent views of the sea cliffs nearby.

This is a Thomson Gold hotel which does not allow children under 16. Thus making it a great place to chill out.

Would i go back again? Yes i would. The resort is quiet, so if its a quiet relaxing holiday and you are not fussy about evening entertainment, then this is a good place to be.
