It Was Nice And Breakfast Excellent
It was back im 1994. I spend 5 months living at Olga's. I was treated like a son. The breakfast was delicious and the winter was warm and relaxing. I have't been there since that time. God bless them.
Never Go There!!!
I had a terrible time staying there. I had to share the bathroom with other guests as our shower was broken so we had to go up and down several flights of stairs. We got the impression they knew the shower was broken but neglected to tell us. It pains me to write this review but I have to be honest. We couldn't endure another night, In the end we decided to cut our stay short and head home. I still have nightmares.
Utterly terrible..

Olgas Is Probably The Worst Dive I Have Stayed In.
olgas is probably the worst dive i have stayed in. i work away from home a lot, so im used to staying in B&B's and various hotels. breakfast was from 8-9, not much good when you start work at 8. i stayed 4 nights and had to endure the same towels for 3 nights, untill i asked one of the staff for clean ones, to which she replied, olga doesnt like us to give out clean towels. the room itself was up 3 flights of stairs and about as big as a shoe box, with 2 grown men sharing a room you can imagine how cramped it was. my reccomendation is to give olgas a wide berth.
Dear 'Anonymous guest'
Thankyou for your review.
A) Breakfast are served between 8 and 9 as 90% of guests do not require an earlier breakfast. However, we do have 2 exceptions: 1) There is a sign that states quite clearly that we do serve breakfast earlier on request and 2) we do serve 'contractors' from 7.30 when requested. We have served even earlier on the odd occasions.
B) There are 3 reasons we only change 'linen and towels' at such an interval as you describe: 1) We follow guidelines set out by the tourism associations, 2) We are not a hotel and as such do not charge a premium price and thereore need to keep costs down & 3) It is more environmentally sustainable to not provide fresh linen more often.
We do supply fresh towels, but not unless requested for all of the above reasons.
C)We are a large Victorian terrace house and we have rooms on 3 floors. The room you describe would have been a twin en suite on the second floor. That room measures approx 15ft by 15ft. I think it is unfair to describe it as a shoebox.
We do have larger rooms and single rooms. If you had wished to upgrade, and we had availability, we would have obliged.
I am disappointed that you have felt it necessary to comment here rather than approach me personally to complain on a one to one basis.
These reviews are very one-sided and after the fact.
We would have tried to make things right at the time, but now your review is a permanent record of your dissatisfaction which does no justice to either party.
Hopefully my comments will show a balanced viewpoint.

The Weekend I Spent At Olga's Was One Of The Worst
The weekend I spent at Olga's was one of the worst ever. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Apologies for the late reply to this comment but I have just seen it. Firstly I (Olga) was not at the guesthouse during December as I was away on holiday in December 2006. It must have been my ex housekeeper who was looking after the guesthouse who would have dealt with you and I sincerely apologise for any rudeness.
I also apologise for cleaners not taking notice of the Do Not Disturb. That is not acceptable & they have been reminded.
The decor was possibly 'Chintzy' at that time, however it has been updated completely since then to a more neutral decor.
My next point is that there are toilets for guests who do not have en-suite to use on the mezzanine between ground and first & on floor 2. e.g. every 2 floors. I apologise again if this was not pointed out to you.
Hotels and b & b's have heard the excuse 'they just came over for a couple of hours' lots of times when the guest tried to only pay for one person's overnight accommodation when they have had another person in the romm all night. As the housekeeper could have wrongly assumed that a visitor 'for a few hours' was such a situation. I apologise.
If you feel these apologies and explanations are adequate it would be much appreciated if you could see your way to removing or amending your review. Please see recent reviews on TripAdvisor for evidence that we take great care and have significantly changed since your review of 2006.
Apologies for the late reply to this comment but I have just seen it. Firstly I (Olga) was not at the guesthouse during December as I was away on holiday. My lady who was looking after the guesthouse would have dealt with Mr. Cornelius. Chintzy, possible at that time, but decor is personal taste, it has been updated since then. As you can see from the comments he was charged the same price in 2006 as we are charging 2009 and all guest houses, hotels and b & b's have heard the excuse 'they just came over for a couple of hours' when they have probably been there all night, I suspect that this was the reason he was charged extra. Breakfast at our guesthouse on a weekend is between 8.30 and 9.30am which we think is a reasonable period, we are after all only a guest house not an hotel.
