Disgusting Place
Went there as a family, non existent cleaning, reported to local environment, with my photos of the place they were taken to court and fined heavily for food hygiene, cleaning and poor management. Worst holiday we have ever had.Food plates and utensils from the kitchen not washed properly, teapot covered with dryed on egg from the breakfast. Swimming pool filthy and a health hazard.Should have been closed well before it did. They tried to bribe us with free wine at meal times, but holiday makers health comes first.

Such a wonderfull location, had the best holiday of my life there, life was good,Barney who was 12yo realy enjoyed it,remember the claw/grab machine at the entrance to the whites building, won a couple of teddies on it LOL.
Food was excelent.
Entertainment was good, more suited for the younger age group, which isnt a bad thing for a family holiday.
Harcourt
we enjoyed so many holidays at Harcourt when our children were growing up, enjoyed the competitions between Harcourt and puckpool, the footy matches, the children made so many friends there, we used to book the same times every year so they could all meet up, one year we as a family won 5 holidays!!!!!!!! we didn't take one though, so wish it was still there and our grandchildren could enjoy it. And the sun was always shining. still go back to iow several times a year, its still upsetting to see that nothing has yet been done. Many happy memories.
Best Location On The Island
I first went there in 1976 and returned many many times . The accommodation became old and a little neglected in parts but it was such a large site it must have been a challenge to keep on top of refurbishment . It was without doubt a fabulous family holiday centre and had everything going for it. I think it is a tragedy to see it as it is now and I actually cried when I saw it last year - the isle of wight council must do all it can to restore the land to good use. It's an incredible waste of prime seafront land. A holiday complex and residential housing is the proper solution. Let's hope by the end of this decade those of us that loved Puckpool/St Clare / Harcourt can return again to this very special part of the beautiful Isle if Wight .. X

Cr4p But A Shame It's Gone
We probably went about 15 years in a row (I also went there as a child when it was Warner's Puckpool), when our children were growing up. This was from it's last days of Warners through Haven and latterly through to Renowned up to about 2 weeks before it finally closed down. It was brilliant when the children were young and attended the kid's clubs and regularly frequented both the indoor and outdoor pools.
When the children were quite young they really liked the entertainment (They didn't know better) and in the early days, it wasn't too bad for us parents.
However, over the years it deteriorated in all aspects.
The food became almost inedible - I've even had better NHS hospital food.
In the early days, there used to be entertainment in

Worked At Harcourt Sands In 1988 And Had A Really
Worked at Harcourt Sands in 1988 and had a really great but exhausted season there as a Warners 'Greencoat.' For nostalgic purporses I walked along the beach from Ryde only to find my old residential home Harcourt Cottage derelict and boarded up! It would have been lovely to have walked around the old centre but it was then privately owned. I am very sad to hear its now closed down. Many happy memories and lifelong friendships were made there and I still remember a lot of the holidaymakers I met during that long summer. Happy days! Although I can no longer live them they will stay in my heart forever.

My Granddad Worked At Isle Of Wight Harcourt Sands
My granddad worked at Isle of Wight Harcourt Sands for 15 years and i pretty much grew up in resort. It has gone to waste since it closed down, with the ballroom being victims of arsonists. The council say there is a resolution in sight but it is going to take a lot of work to restore it's former glory. It as well run and there was always plenty to do. It also had successful staff.
They had all the right formulas and they should bring it back.

What is the site used for now?
I am looking to re-develop this site and although this is just an inital idea at the moment I would like to know more about what it was about the site you liked so much, specifically value for money and if there is anything else you would like to see on the site.
Many thanks in advance.
