Just Returned From A Fantastic Holiday At The Rex
Just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Rex Hotel, Tobago. We went for a long deserved holiday and what a holiday it turned out to be...we enjoyed ourselves, felt right at home with the staff, great food, clean, but, simple rooms. We also did some scuba diving with the dive center at the hotel, Tobago Dive Pirates, can really recommend them, they were great, very safety conscious, friendly and we had a great time with them, planning on returning next year to complete my PADI.
Will be back soon!
I found this review very helpful because... I am going and I want to scuba dive so thanks for the information

I Found Turtle Beach A Pleasent Environment And I
I found turtle beach a pleasent environment and i ejoyed my holiday. i ave travelled around the carribean for 15 years now and it is one of the best holidays i have been on. I found all the staff friendly and welcoming, they were always smiling and the food was extremely good. I foun the locals were also very pleasent and welcomed you with open arms. Although there were a few locals on the beach trying to sell you tours or pieces of artwork they had made they were very friendly and you cn easily say no and they wil be on their way. It wasnt as tho0ugh they hassled you and they werent allowed in the hotel. They had a lot of facilities and good watersports so overall i found this holiday amazing and i would definitely go back. I went in july 2010 and although it is the rainy season it was still lovely sunshine with a few showers.
I found this review very helpful because...I am going there on holiday soon so some positive feedback is good

I Stayed At This Hotel For A Week In Oct 08. Room
I stayed at this hotel for a week in Oct 08. Room only (as I had read other reviews and decided that because I was going to Trinidad for a day not to go all inc). Well when I got to the hotel we had to pay a deposit of $1000 tt, which on the whole was not too bad this was in case we wanted drinks or meals at the hotel (but no one tells you this when you book the hotel). Me and my girlfriend ended up having breakfast 3 morning out of 7 as I just could not handle the fact it never changed (If you like tea, toast, and eggs for £9.50p then .. well its your choice). We had some friends stay at the hotel on a all inc holiday and what they were saying about the food ... well lets just say is clear I didn't miss out on much. Now the beach well lets just say its quite honestly not up to to Tobago standards. As I used to live in Tobago as a kid i remember the pigeon point and englishman bay were of a much higher standard, Hence we ended up spending half the holiday down pigeon point (still in my opinion one of the best beaches in the world). Also on turtle beach there are loads of locals or rustas selling you boat trips! I paid a deposit to go on a trip as I wanted my girlfriend to see some of the reefs and pool's.... well cut a long story short I lost out on $150 us and trust me I am no mug and very well traveled so please listen when I say do not trust them! As I agreed with our friends who where staying a few rooms down there is no atmosphere in this hotel and the staff are moody .... I have lots more stories but I think I've said enough. On a whole I had a fantastic time in Tobago and Trinidad just its seems all the good bits was not at this hotel!
I found this review not helpful because...very negative

Before Leaving For Tobago We Read The Reports And
Before leaving for Tobago we read the reports and reviews to get an idea of what to expect. Having never been on an all inclusive holiday before we were concerned to see a lot of mixed reviews leaning towards the negative. Keeping an open mind we arrived in the reception after a long journey.
The hotel reception was quite colonial and seemed quite quaint but the walk to the room was a little like walking past a corridor of cell doors. Our room was on the ground floor and very old fashioned (recommend 1st/2nd floor room for view and security).
After a very comfortable nights sleep we opened our patio doors and walked straight out onto an amazing beach with a welcoming sea, the fishermen were pulling in nets and the weather was perfect.
From the moment we walked up the beach we were acosted by beach folk selling us anything from coconuts with carvings on to trips around the island. Until the day we left we were really not left alone and the constant hassle definitely had a negative effect on our holiday. Some of the salespeople were a little more coniving than others and we soon guessed that the only reason they spoke to us was to get money from us. The Brits were always so pleasant and would stop for a chat but this seemed to be a mistake. Saying this there are few people were very good.
There seemed to be a touch of resentment from some of the locals and staff as if they wondered why 'us rich brits' had the audacity to be there in the first place.
We did however love the food at Turtle Beach and also the pool bar. Most of the staff are helpful and pleasant expecially the Phillapino's.
We noticed most people do not sit on the beach side of the bar/pool as this is where the locals can hassle you easily. There was however some very pleasant spots under the palm tree's on the hotel side of the bar.
We will not be going back to Tobago but have taken a liking to the Carribean and would definately try a rex resort on a different Island.

My Wife And I Have Just Returned From Turtle Beach
My wife and I have just returned from Turtle Beach having stayed there on an All Inclusive package. We went for 10 days having arranged the stay with Best At Travel. They are commended for their hassle free package. We had to go via Barbados with Virgin.A long day travelling, but after a short flight into Tobago from Barbados, we arrived just after 6 in the evening. We had no problems being allocated a room. The room its self was clean and functional. It was located on the 3rd floor at the far end of the hotel complex furthest from reception and the pool area. We did not mind this, as it was quiet for us at the end of each day. The room had a brand new and quiet air conditioning unit which chucked out a cool 17 degrees C after a very warm day. We hardly watched the TV, this was mostly due to very poor reception and in any case, we weren't even in the room from 0930 to 5pm every day and far too tired to watch it in the evenings. The view from the balcony was not bad, giving us views across the bay. The room was serviced daily, however, a couple of times it was still being serviced as late as 5pm. On the whole, it was cleaned to a satisfactory standard. There was refurbishment work going on the whole time we were there to some of the other hotel rooms, however it was not noisy and it did not bother us.The hotel itself is 3 star and that is fair. We had read some pretty unsavory reviews prior to booking, but you have to trust your own instincts sometimes. The food was not bad with breakfast for me, being the best cooked meal of the day! The evening meals weren't too bad either, however if you're vegetarian, you might be a little disappointed. Lots of chicken, jerk beef, pork and lamb. The restaurant staff were mostly jovial and attentive. A word of warning though if you are not a bird lover. Despite their efforts in putting up fine netting, small birds to get in to the restaurant and fly about. Mostly irritating in the morning. Please take note, there is a dress code in the restaurant in the evenings. Guys should take some short sleeved collared shirts and a pair of trousers, ladies always made the effort and it is expected by the staff that you are dressed to a reasonable standard for evening meal. DJs and ball gowns are not required! The pool area is pretty good, with an outside bar next to it. This is where you take most of your drinks from. The bar in the reception area was rarely open. During the day, if you remained by the pool area, you got what you went for, plenty of sun! We had very little bad weather. Considering it is the rainy season, we only had a couple of rainy days on our arrival, from then on, it was sun, sun sun. Evening entertainment. Hmm, some not too bad, a singer, steel drums, limbo dancing, but that's as good as it gets. Considering that there is very little to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, ie, no night life (You need to go to Crown Point or Scarborough by taxi), they could put on a bit more than they do.The beach is not bad, but the shoreline slopes quite quickly into the sea. Children in my opinion, should be supervised at all times whilst there. The local children are used to it, don't be fooled into thinking you can leave your own kids to just have a swim. A 400 metre walk up the beach toward Black Rock, will take you to an old reef area on the beach with shallow pools. Younger kids will find this good for seeing small fish. There are a few stray dogs on the beach. Do not under any circumstances pet them or feel sorry for them. They are a nuisance and in my opinion, dangerous. Some are emaciated and are constantly begging for food. Some do venture into the hotel grounds and little effort is made to extract them. The beach vendors are generally ok, however if you are hassled, just tell them no firmly and they will go away. Whilst in Tobago, you must see the island. This is best done on an all day tour. The prices vary. You get what you pay for. Just make sure that whoever takes you is fully insured. If it all goes wrong because you did it as cheap as possible, then you are partly to blame. We had a fantastic tour organised by our Rep. The island is beautiful. I snorkeled at Englishman's Bay. Saw some fantastic fish.In summary, my wife and I had a good time at Turtle Beach and it was everything we expected. Remember, this is not 4 or 5 star and some people will always be disappointed with certain things. For the money, we got what we paid for. Would I go back? No, but only because having seen Tobago and enjoyed it, I would want to visit somewhere else. That's what the world is for, discovering.
I found this review very helpful because...going there soon so was helpful

I Went With My Husband On Holiday Feb. 2008 For 2
I went with my husband on holiday Feb. 2008 for 2 weeks. Our children are grown up and away and it is now time to relax on holidays and do our own thing. Parts of the beach was private to the hotel and the location was good. Go all inclusive as it is well worth it. All water sports are then free as is all food, coffee and tea and most drinks at the swim up bar. The pool was clean large and fairly new. Tobago itself is beautiful and the organised trips worth it. Would like to go again. Hotel staff were generally helpful and happy. Food was good and varied. Not enough staff serving drinks at meal times though. Sometimes you were forgotten. Rooms need updating and furniture old. Had to ask for our sheets to be changed, otherwise they would have been the same ones for the 2 weeks we were there. Buildings and entrance could do with a lick of paint and also updating. Toilets kept blocking but plumbing was in progress in some of the rooms. This did not spoil our holiday although it was a bit of a shock when first arrived.

Me And My Husband Go Married At The Turtle Beach R
Me and my husband go married at the Turtle Beach Rex Turtle Beach in September 2007, it was fantastic, the whole holiday was very relaxing we loved it. There was only 1 thing that really annoyed us was we got married over there and we paid thousands of pounds for it so we expected it to be fantastic, don't get me wrong it was very nice but when you get married over there in your hotel you are given a lady or a man to help you with any of your need and help you along the way. Well they sorted everything out for us ie. flowers, arch, vicar, steal band etc but a few days before we changed the time of the wedding from 2 oclock in the afternoon to 5 oclock as the heat would of killed us but the lady who we had forgot to tell the people who were making the arch for us so when we arrived to the beach for the wedding the flowers were dead so none of our photos have really got us by the arch which was a shame. Also our lady in charge was meant to come and get me 5 minutes before the wedding to walk down, she never turned up so 10 past 5 came and a family member went to reception to ask where she was we was then informed that she had gone home. So we were so angry that she had gone we didn't know what to do or where to go so one of the staff member walked me down to the wedding I was so stressed I just could of gone back to the room and cried. We complained the day after. All inclusive which I think is a good idea as I think the drinks and meals could sometimes be a bit over priced but the pool was fantastic, the beach was fantastic, the staff were very nice they were very relaxed well we were in the Caribbean, we were very lucky enough to see some little baby turtles hatching out of the sand which was amazing we also seen a group of dolphins right in our bay which everyone ran to see. Every 3 days or so a group of local men would fish in the sea each morning you could see them bringing the nets in, they would talk to you and show you all of the fish they had caught which was very interesting. Overall it was a fantastic holiday our room was fab air conditioning was great and rooms were always cleaned daily. Other than the bad points the hotel was fantastic I would never wish for my wedding to be else where all I would change is to make sure our wedding planner does her job! The hotel I think should be more than a 3* hotel I would give it 4 or more it was fantastic and we are hopefully going back September 2009

Our Holiday To Rex Turtle Beach In Tobago Was By-f
Our holiday to Rex Turtle Beach in Tobago was by-far the worst holiday ever! We will never go back to Tobabgo because of the staff at the resort, as they clearly were not welcoming of tourists.
