Excellent Suction

This is the best vacum i have ever had i love it the suction is fab light weight easy to manover, the one fault is the hose that is attached to the bottom of the machine it very short and not easy to do stairs or your suit as its so short but my carpets have never looked so good, i had a dyson before and when i used this vax it filled the dust container twice, my carpets look brand new and they are 10 year old cream carpets, i love it but would have liked the extension hose with it rather that have to purchase it seperate

Too Powerful! It Sticks To The Floor And Wont Budge!

Spent a long time researching this and bought it based on previous reviews. It is certainly light weight and very powerful but thats where the good points end. The hose is much too short and can only be used with a extension that has to bought as an extra. The attachments are fiddly and dont stay on the machine so these have to be stored separately. The suction is so powerful that the machine sticks to hard floors on either setting making it impossible to move along.

I have had a lot of cleaners over the years of different makes and models, some performed better than others but this is first time I can say that I actually hate this cleaner! Complete waste of money :(

Manufacture Issue

I have had my vaccum cleaner for nearly two years and was fiarly satisfied with it until mid March this year. The hose became detatched from the hoover completely. I rang and had another hose sent to me. Just two weeks later, the same thing happened again. I was told that there was a manufacturing issue with the hose and the company were currently looking to manufacture a replacement. It basically looked like there wasnt enough glue or similar to keep the hose attached to the machine! Upon requesting my second replacement I had to wait as they had run out of stock - hence alot of people where ringing for replacements.

Would not recommend purchasing unless satisfied the hose has been updated!

i also have had this problem. replacement has just arrived, but seems identical to the original

janetchapman

I have had this problem too. I bought my Vax from Amazon 6 months ago and I'm already on second hose! Where the hose fits on the connector(with glue, silicone or some substance) It just isn't up to the job. I am not a heavy handed person and use my Vax about 3 times a week. Customer services have been helpful in sending out new hoses but it takes about 5 days for the replacement to arrive. Other than that a good cleaner. great from going from carpet to hard floors. Suction good. Cord could be a little longer though. Need to sort the hose issue out though, other wise it will be going back.

Probably The Worst Hoover In The World!

The lead is ridiculously short, if you live in anything but a bedsit it would be ok. The bin needs to be emptied constantly. I have to go around my carpet and pick up bits before vacuming as this machine leaves most of it behind. I cannot do stairs with it. At 6' tall i have to bend to reach the extended handle.

Without doubt my biggest waste of money ever.

Waste Of Money!

This promised to be as good as a full size cyclone cleaner-rubbish!

Yes it is light, but that's the only good thing I can think to say about it.

The dust drum is so small that unless you live in a caravan you have to empty it ridiculously often. If you have dogs like I do or a 3 bedroom house and like to vacuum regularly then don't bother to get one of these as it's really frustrating.

The cable is really short so that you have to keep unplugging it and as for the so called extendible hose, well...

it is also stupidly short and is attached to the bottom of the machine so that to use it you are bending over, especially for skirtings. Doing the stairs I even have to hold the cleaner in one hand while using the hose as it is too short to reach more than half way up the stairs.

Spiders in my house have had a lucky escape since I bought this as there is no way you can safely reach cobwebs on ceilings.

It is really noisy and there is an irritating flapping sound from the flimsy piece of fabric attached to the filter (supposed to use it to remove filter for washing but looks really cheap)

Not impressed with power of cleaning either, especially on the hard floor option-I had a Dyson before and would pay the price again for a new one-this has been a complete waste of money.

Tried to speak to retailer regarding spec but very unhelpful.

Whistle Noise From Motor

Good vacuum cleaner, but let down by noisy motor after only 9 months from purchase.

Vax customer care service is very poor. Despite trying to contact them over 2 days there is always a queue of people waiting to be dealt with.

A Great Little Cleaner!

Quite a lot of research went in to choosing the Vax U91-MA-B vacuum cleaner, it paid off!

It is lightweight, VERY easy to empty and the suction, well, it could suck start a Harley Davidson!

From unpacking to using it took maybe 3 mins! No tedious assy, just pop in the handle (which also acts as a suction tube when using its tools) and away you go. To empty just grab the handle on the waste cylinder, press a button and it lifts off. To empty the contents you hold it over the bin and press a button and the base opens and the dust drops out.

We struggled to be the first to use it, but I won and my dear wife had to watch me hoover the hall, the living room, our bedroom and the spare room. I let her clean the kitchen doormat :)

This is a very good little cleaner, strong and well made, lightweight and VERY powerfull.

No, I don't work for Mr Vax, I'm just an old git who used to think that the Hoover Junior was the best cleaner in the world! It's not!

Negative points? Maybe one, the suction hose is a little short, ok for most jobs but could be a little longer. If you need a longer one these are available from Amazon from about £15.

Oh, I nearly forgot, this cleaner has a 6 YEAR WARRANTY !

Belt Cannot Be Changed Easily

These a fine but if the belt goes it's of to the repair shop as they are far to fiddly for joe public to change and thats where the costs start my personel view is before you buy a cleaner ask the simplest of questions on the products if you don't and simple things go wrong it is far to expensive even for a £1.99 belt shop fitting cost £29.99

The Worst Vacuum - And Nonsense Repair Policy

The Vax Mac Air has great reviews - but don't believe them.

The hoover is absolute rubbish. Our's lasted less than three months before the engine blew up. I took it back to Curry's where we bought it and they said we had to deal with Vax direct. So it took two weeks for the hoover to be collected, fixed and returned. We were charged as they said the lead was damaged - I don't think so.

It came back and the replaced engine was less powerful, but worse of all it then stopped sucking after another month.

I have no confidence in the Mac Air and just want a refund so that I can replace the hoover with something that actually works.

I now understand that I don't need to go through all the hassle of sending it back to Vax via their customer service hotline.

There is something called the 2003 Supply of Goods to Consumers Act - so don't be fobbed off. It is the supplier of the goods that is responsible not the manufacturer. And after 6 months and up to 6 years (in the UK) there is the Limitations Act.

So Vax and Curry's stop lying and breaking the law. Refund us if we are not happy with the goods.

Q&A

robert19471958

The suction is so strong I can't push the vacuum across the carpet. What should I do?

piley19

What is the difference between the newer version Vax Mach Air U91-MA-B from the older U91-MA-B Air Multicyclone?

joanlorraineroberts

My Mum and Dad have this machine and it is fine on their hard floors but they find it hard to push forward on a carpet. At the moment they pull it backwards then lift it forwards every time. Is there a way of adjusting the height of the suction head?

Osmodia

Hi Joan,

I agree with you. However, there is no way of adjusting it. But, there is a way of improving it.

If you look at the plastic surface around the suction/brush aperture, check that it is clean and shiny and very smooth to the touch. What happens is after a period of use it gets a bit dirty and sticky which stops it sliding smoothly over the carpet. What I do is give it a good clean with surface cleaner and a damp cloth then give it a bit of a polish (I use car wax). This will make it slide over the carpet easier.

As a matter of interest, the hardest carpets to vacuum are corded type where as pile carpets are easier.
