Very Disappointed

Not enough lead, have to keep un plugging and using an extension lead. Hose is useless not enough, so cannot reach ceiling without trying to lift hoover while doing it. Also not enough hose to hoover stairs without having to lug hoover up and try and balance at the same time.

Think Twice About Buying This Vax

Watch out many retailers inflate price then reduce to around a £100 this caught the wife out thinking its a bargain..cheap plastic no belt driven pick up hose splits and misleading figures ever tried to compare air watts against other Hoovers etc went bang within a month of use vax replaced it second one stated smoking returned for full refund ..vax customer services slow and poor..however Argos outstanding in customer service and if you want to buy a hoover that's had thought put in pay the price and buy a Dyson when on offer .vax could clean up if they had a think about what models they design and how .

Vax Ripped Holes In My Carpet

I had a great VAX machine that developed a fault at the very end of the warranty period, they sent me a replacement of a different machine.

The new machine has ripped holes in my carpet all over the house, it had been building up and I hadn't noticed.

They told me as it's out of warranty they will do nothing.

They told me even if it had been in warranty they would have done nothing.

They told me the damage was caused by not having it on the correct setting when I was using the attachments.

The instructions do not tell you which setting to put it on when using the attachments.

There is high carpet, low carpet and hard floor. We have a very flat pile carpet so I used low carpet.

They told me I should have put it on high carpet to use the attachments and that there is three warnings in the manual telling you they are not responsible to damage to hard flooring due to the ever-rotating brush.

I pointed out that nowhere did it mention any warnings about damage to carpet.

They told me that they didn't put that warning on as 'most people' use the high carpet setting.

Dont Waste Your Money-

Owned hoover for approx 18 months- various faults in first year- now parts are starting to fail inside causing massive suction loss when used in upright position- Next time i will spend more on a hoover and hopefully get a better constructed product-

First, it picks up pet hair. In that respect it ticks all the boxes for me.

I'm having a few problems with it picking up bits of cat litter on hard floors (been put down outside as grit on snow and has been walked in to house) but this isn't likely to happen often (I hope!)

VERY easy to empty 9as opposed to a Dyson Animal, which I found really awkward)

Makes a carpet look great. The turbo tool on the hose is extremely powerful, makes cleaning stairs very fast work.

I had to call customer support as I could not set it up properly (I'm a technical idiot) The lady I spoke to was helpful, polite & efficient. Full marks for their support.

My only criticism is that it is a bit bulky to move around the house and the cable is very long--useful in a large house but tends to get tangled, tripped over etc...

Excellent value for money.

Picks up pet hair well.

Easy to empty.

Glad I bought it.

This Is Basically My Sisters Review, She Bought Th

This is basically my sisters review, she bought this Vax upright having borrowed my Vax VZL 702U (see my separate review) which she was impressed with, but wanted a upright as opposed to a cylinder cleaner.

On arrival a small amount of assembly is required which is quite easy, its not immediately obvious where some of the tools should fit, but reading the instructions resolves that. The hoover is of a silver plastic & build quality is OK but could be better, i.e. clearly made to a price, if you have a posh flat you may want to look for something that would fit better (i.e. the VZL 702U does look good).

Tools included are a turbo tool (for stairs), a crevice tool and dusting brush. The cord length is 10m which is great, but is manually wound. The hose for stair cleaning is quite short though. Weight at 7.5kg is on the lighter side to my mind.

Performance is great, cleans really well & you can see a real difference to your carpets, does a great job with pet hairs. Suction power is quoted at 300 air watts, which is greater than the VZL 702U, which I believe is about 260 air watts. The dust container is easy to empty & the filters are washable, though that hasn't needed to be done yet.

The Achilles heel to this hoover is the noise, it is very noisy, the VZL 702U is a whisperer by comparison, personally I prefer the 702U, but my sister is happier with the U90-P4-P as its upright & cleans well.

Conclusion: Great hoover but without the looks and very noisy. Fantastic with pet hairs but short hose means stair cleaning is not the easiest.

If I could I would reduce the score to two stars, as it hasn't lasted!

After only 2 years use the Vax U90-P4-P just packed up, now just gathers dust rather than picking any up!!

Freeky

I would now downgrade my score if I could, after just over 2 years use, parts started to break off and now it has packed up all-together, so very poor for durability. Also annoying as the guarantee is 2 years & it all went wrong just after that expired!

So the U90-P4-P is not recommended anymore, though the VZL 702U, is still working great after 6 years use.
