Favourite dishes are the mini chorizo sausages (which have a honey glaze) and the bread with baked garlic, that you spread like butter - yummy. The waiters have a mobile gadget so as they take your order it seems to tell them which place setting is asking for it, so if you have a big group (8 or more) as we did then there is none of that "who ordered the soup?" nonsense, they just bring it efficiently to everybody. Only problem I had was they don't come round for drinks orders often enough, but I have that problem a lot!

I'd recommend this place for couples or small to medium sized groups who fancy a quality meal in pleasant and relaxed surroundings. It get rather busy at peak times, although the staff are always attentive and the quality of the food never fails to impress.

Le Bistrot Pierre Is A Well Known French Brasserie
Le Bistrot Pierre is a well known French Brasserie in Derby and located in the heart of the very popular restaurant quarter on Friargate. This visit to the restaurant was to try out the Dine with Wine evening which the restaurant holds every first and third Wednesday of the each month. When I arrived there were already two of the members of the Ladies Night Out Club present and while we waited for the other ladies to arrive we took the opportunity to discuss the special menu for the evening. The Dine with Wine evening provides you the opportunity to try three different courses of food with three different wines; with two choices of wine per meal choice. For starters most of us opted for the plum tomato, rocket and Roquefort salad with olive oil dressing. This was accompanied by a very crisp Viognier, Jean Didier, Vin de Pay which really brought out the taste of the cheese in the salad. One of the other members chose the risotto with broad beans, spring onions and tomato concasse. She commented that the risotto was very light and the portion size was just right. For the main course there was a choice of chicken or steak, the chicken dish was served with wild mushrooms, cr me fraiche and tarragon. This again was lovely however I did feel that it was a touch too salty but the wine that came with it was a very tasty Minervois, Chateau Remaury, Minevois, France 2007. A few of the ladies did opt for the rib eye steak which looked sumptious even though some would have preferred it cooked a little bit more. For afters there was a choice of warm chocolate and pecan tart with vanilla ice cream or trio of French cheeses with biscuits, celery and chutney. Everyone as you may have guessed went for the Pecan Tart which was came with a delicate sweet wine, Loupiac, Domaine de Noble, Loupiac, France 2004Afterwards the meal left me feeling full and satisfied and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to discover a selection different wines and sample the different meal courses made available on the night. I will be returning in future and all the members were keen on going back to try out the Gastronomique evening Le Bistrot Pierre hosts. As always the service was very professional and after every course the waitress came to check on our food and was very bright and cheerful. It was a pleasant experience to have such enthusiastic service. All of the ladies agreed that they would have no qualms about recommending Le Bistrot Pierre to their friends and would eat there again.
