This Dyson Dc04 Absolute Machine Has Been Broken M

This Dyson DC04 Absolute machine has been broken more than in use. It doesn't suck up anything other than dust and it's the worst hoover I've ever owned for reliability and I've owned a few. I've just given up on it as the repairs barely last 6 mths so it's going to the tip. I also own a DC1 which is still going strong and is the best Dyson because it's lightweight, reliable and sucks dust and bits. Not so great for pet hair it has to be said - neither was the DC4.

I Was Pursuaded By The Kind Offer Of My Husband To

I was pursuaded by the kind offer of my husband to buy me a Dyson DC 04 Absolute about 3 years ago as I believed that although expensive it would be a brilliant cleaner given Dyson's reputation for good design! HOWEVER,I have since been very puzzled and assumed I had not been using it correctly (the instructions with the machine were minimal).

Today I have accessed this site hoping to find out where I have been going wrong, only to read in other reviews that the very awkward fitting and use of the tools,as well as their insecure storage slots , is just how it is .I also find the necessarily frequent emptying of the dirt impossible without spillages (I understand newer models are improved but this one is surely NOT well designed). Bring back my cheapie cleaner !!

I Have Had The Dyson Dc04 Absolute Vacuum Cleaner

I have had the Dyson DC04 Absolute vacuum cleaner for about 6 trouble free years. I got through a couple of upholstery attachments, because I use them on the stairs, and I MEAN use! The cleaner suddenly stopped the other day and it smelled bad. I thought the worst and cursed the fact that I had just decided not to renew my service agreement, as things were going so well. I toyed with idea of just going out and replacing it! I phoned the helpline and spoke to a delightful lady who assured me that whatever was wrong (and I mean everything, even down to the slightly pulled cable sheath) would be replaced for £55. I was so amazed that I asked her to verify that this included parts, labour and call-out! She laughed and said "yes". I arranged a date and was told that the engineer would come out and fix it at home. It would not be sent away! It just got better... Today the engineer came as planned. He replaced the burnt out motor, fitted a new brush bar, as I asked if he had one I could buy (no charge), new power cable, new hose, new washable filter and new permanent filter, and a few other bits and bobs. All he charged was £65 (I bought the new filter). I think this is exceptional service, and I now have a vacuum cleaner that looks like new. Those spiders' webs don't stand a chance!

We Started Off Getting The Original Dyson Dc01. Th

We started off getting the original Dyson DC01. That was the most awful vacuum cleaner that anybody could surely ever get! Then we noticed that everybody that we knew were getting DC04s. We decided, then, to get one for ourselves to see what it was like.

It seemed so brilliant!-

>Powerful brushbar

>Strong suction

>Easy to empty

Then the trouble started - the wires kept detaching from their sockets within the switch, and about once every other month we had to pay £20 for our local electrician to re-fit the cable, every time making it at least 2 inches smaller. At the rate the cable was disappearing we were astonished! In the end we gave up on it.

The cleaner, though, is good; it was just that one problem that let it down.

The HEPA filters are superb. The absolute filter is great at fighting germs and bacteria, although it may not seem like it.

I wish the Hoover could maybe be a bit more flexible, however - but not as flexible as the new Dyson Ball cleaners..COMPLETE ODDNESS!

The Amount Of Rubbish That Comes Up Each Time You

The amount of rubbish that comes up each time you use the Dyson DC04 Absolute vacuum cleaner is astonishing! It is much better than the old Panasonic we had. 100% suction is a real bonus even when completely full. Hepa Filter, brush control and the hose that reaches to the top of the stairs. The clear bin and cyclonic action allows you to see what's in the carpet. Easy to dismantle if there is a blockage. Our DC04 finally gave up after about 6 years, so we went and got another Dyson, but a newer model (a DC07 Animal). I think I'm hooked now!

Everyone Raved On About How Much Dust The Dyson Ab

Everyone raved on about how much dust the Dyson Absolute picked up. I cannot fault this, and I don't think it's different to other vacuums, it just makes the dust visible. For me though, it was the worst £200 ever spent.

I find it cumbersome and hard to manoeuvre, and you cannot get under beds or furniture. The tools are difficult to use, as the handle is so bulky it just gets in the way, or the head falls off. The hose is prone to splitting, and instead of stretching, it pulls the vacuum down after you (on stairs), or pulls the vacuum over. It is ugly, unstable, and just not user friendly! Never again.
