Dyson DC05

I originally purchased a dyson ball vacuum in november. It was to heavy for me to use. The person I dealt with from Dyson had me return it. Dyson paid for shipping. Dyson then replaced it with their multi floor canister vacuum. I had several choices. I received it today. Its light and works great. Why would I ever buy anything but a Dyson.

We have had our Dyson DC05 since January 2004 and found it to be the best hoover we have had. It was an investment due to the price new but we think we have had our moneys worth from it!. I am now only having to replace the wand handle due to general wear & tear but the rest of the hoover is still original parts and going strong !! Would hesitate to buy Dyson again.

The only down fall i have found is the size of it, i brought the cylinder model thinking storage may be easier but its still quite large.

There isnt an original part left on our DC05 except the casing and the wheels. The rest has broken through poor quality materials. the design is quite good but the high price is not reflected in the quality of materials used . I have seen better in an Airfix construction Kit for kids. But profit of course comes first . The cable breaks at regular \intervals followed by the retraction gear as the return spring breaks off. The locking mechanism on the tubes breaks as a pastime (thank the lord for jubilee clips). We use ours everyday and if it wasn't for the filter system would have been dumped at Dysons door a long time ago. Good job our 20 year old hoover is still working fine. If someone offered me a free one I would have to say No as the concept is good but for the money the quality is below poor.

Have had a Dyson DC05 for a number of years and still functions well. However, have had to replace practically all accessories and am now on to my 3rd stair tool!

The Dyson DC05 good machine. Only problem in 6 years was to replace the cable. No instructions from Dyson, but great instructions on this site

very reliable hoover had it since it first came out.bought another dyson dc11 not as good as dc05.

my husband has used this dc05 for work, he is a builder and takes this hoover to work to pick up the plaster saw dust of the joiners and bits of concrete he cant get up with a brush and shovel. he builds extensions on peoples houses, the clients usually use it to hoover the rest of their house when its there. Have to fight to get it of him,ive cleaned it all up and it has not had a new part at any time. THANK YOU mr dyson for making my live so easy, enjoy hoovering now.

I have purchased 2 of these dc05 for home and business and both have had this problem at similar intervals. I have replaced the tubes on both 3 times now. Therefore this is a great design spoilt totally by a poorly designed component and I would suggest that no-one buys this product until this inherent design fault has been addressed by Dyson on their DC05 or similar vacs. I like Dyson vacuum cleaners so hope they can resolve this ongoing problem and if they do then I believe them to be the best.

Good start for the Dyson DC05 in the first year and now going down hill. I am now using the stair tool to hoover main living areas due to the floor tool not picking up anything and keeping the suction. I feel very let down by this model! Storage a problem also - it is too big.

Any cleaner that lasts over a year in our house is amazing. We had a period of changing vacuums every 6 months because they lost suction or broke. This one has lasted around 6 years. Dyson, despite other reviews, has an amazing build quality and although the wand has broke twice 21- cheaper than a new *decent* vacuum). Dealing with customer services a delight, they just send the part-out, sent out the wrong part within warantee (hard floor adapter) but let us keep it anyway. Would never buy another brand of vacuum.
