After Having Had Three Previous Dysons - A Dc01, D
After having had three previous Dysons - a DC01, DC04 Absolute and DC20 Animal, I was already sure that this new cleaner would be brilliant. I was amazed at how much an improvement it has made, though, upon previous models - it's even better than previous cleaners. Suction is the most powerful I have met, the new 'Root Cyclone + Core Separator' cyclone technology is very effective at removing more dirt from the air flow that in my previous DC20 was somehow allowed to pass through to the pre-motor filter and the addition of hygienic bin-emptying is much appreciated. I absolute love, especially, how, as with all Dyson cleaners, every part fits to another with a satisfying click, and generally the DC23 feels very robust.
A few shortcomings mean that this still isn't a 5-star Dyson product, though: the Contact Head, while brilliant on carpet, does frequently just push-around large debris on hard floors rather than collecting it; the addition of a 'large debris channel' would've resolved this. I imagine that people who have carpets covered with a lot of pet hair would be better with a Dyson Animal product/DC23 Animal or Motorhead because of the inclusion of a brushbar in the cleaning head. The machine is rather noisy and noisier, I'm sure, than my previous DC20. A lot of dirt gets trapped in the seal between the bin and cyclone assembly and to separate these two components for cleaning is difficult.
Customer service is excellent. In one case, I accidentally caused an irrepairable blockage in the Contact Head and Dyson dispatched a new one free of charge; how kind?!
Overall, I strongly recommend this Dyson - a brilliant cleaner. :)
