Terrific Suction But That's All

Our old Dyson finally died - not the motor/suction, but the plastic body/chassis seemed to have become brittle. Pieces broke off, leaving very sharp edges on which fingers and hands were cut.

We bought a DC33 at a discount. It seemed more suitable being lighter and more compact.

Positives:

Terrific suction.

Great on open acres of carpet.

Light and compact.

Negatives:

Horrendous high frequency noise which hurts the ears. Even worse in small rooms. Dyson say it's normal.

Light means it doesn't seem very robust or stable.

Hoses suck well and fairly easy to assemble.

When using the hose, the DC33 easily falls over. Stairs become difficult to clean thoroughly.

Hose attachments should be better.

My conclusion:

If you want a Dyson, avoid this model. Your ears will hurt.

On Board Pipe Useless

great hoover shame about the pipe its dangerous trying to do stairs as you have to hold the pipe at an awkward angle whilst holding the hoover. its nightmare using the pipe on florrs etc also hoover tips up. hoover itself works good just need to develop pipe so you can use tools properly instead of struggling

Dyson No More!!! Do Not Use Audiovision In Sheffield Either

I had the DC01 (and still do) and was happy with it, but has now started to leave debris about so decided to purchase another, the DC33i. I really liked James Dyson for his determined pursuit of getting his product to market, and thought maybe this man's company would be better, WRONG! I am sadly disappointed that his customer service is just like all the rest. It is a noisy machine (which I was told by Audiovision in Sheffield (another useless company) that it would bed in, but not according to Dyson - that is how they are? but nobody mentions this on their websites. I feel it is dangerous, the flexi-hose reduces by half when the power is on and the machine hits me in the back when hoovering under units, etc. I said it should have brakes on the wheels to stop it moving and was told Dyson had thought about that but then it would probably fall over!! and guess what, as I put my foot in the way to stop it chasing me, it does fall over, and this is an engineer from Dyson - go figure. I asked Dyson if anyone actually does any hoovering with these machines (in human form and not the robotic arms) and all I got was they do get tested, my response to them was not great. If my hair is near the holes in the wands it sucks that in too. That will be the last Dyson for me too. In my opinion it is far too strong a motor, hence suction, and this should be addressed. Is there a site to list all the rubbish items and rubbish companies - there should be just one website to visit to check things out. If anyone knows please let me know - thanks.

The Last Dyson For Me!

I regret sticking with the Dyson brand. My advice would be to look elsewhere, this hoover feels cheaply made and doesn't work very well. Congratulations Mr Dyson, since moving your production abroad you have made yourself a tiny bit richer, such a shame your hoovers are now rubbish.

Stuiped Problems - Not Oap Friendly

Good suction, despite others saying otherwise. Easy to change from carpet to hard floor - again despite others saying otherwise.

Other than that everyone else is bang on with their comments about the rest!!

I had an older model, but decided I wanted HEPA filters and more suction. However the older model was much easier to hoover stairs and pipe around edges. This one chases you around the house! And then this weekend I pulled the hose apart - 3 steps from the top of my stairs! It's too strong, plain and simple. The re-coil of the hose down the stairs knocked the hoover across the floor. And have you seen the cost of a replacement hose?! Then there's the emptying of the dust bin - it's good job I'm a man. On mine you have to press that little button seriously hard to release the catch (no good for elderly/weak people to use). And the bin bottom flap needs pressing hard to get it back on. Lastly is the tool - what rubbish. You'll be hovering something delicate with the brush end and then it slides up revealing a chisel tip that'll scratch most surfaces!

Come on Dyson - stop farting about with fans and get back to producing the best hoovers.

No As Good As The Dc07

My 7yr old Dyson DC07 recently packed in (motor burnt out) It was a great machine with powerful suction of carpets and hose extension suction was also excellent although the machine was a little heavy taking up and down stairs I could cope with that for its suction power.

I went to Curry's to the Dyson part and spoke to the Dyson sales advisor who explained the difference between all the machines but at no stage informed me that the suction was not as good as the DC07, we went ahead and purchased it £199 (offer). When we 1st used it I noticed the suction when running over the carpets was very poor and had to go over the same area several times to pick up the bits on the floor, I knew straight away that it was a poorer suction as the DC07 picked up our door mat when going over it and the DC33 did not. The accessory tools are different also and the DC07 tools wont fit the DC33, I do not like the 2 in 1 piece accessory that comes with the 33 model, on the plus side it is lighter and the flex is a lot longer than the DC07. I emailed Dyson the day after buying it and to be fair they telephoned me within the hour to go through the machine to see if it was working correctly, the advisor went through some checks and told me that the vacuum was fine and is in working order, she did say that the 33 has a lower motor output than the 07 model but I still should not experience a loss of suction power when running over the carpet, and that was it really there was nothing I could do, I am stuck with it. I did tweet about it when I saw a link on aol website were a guy set his dyson on fire and I commented how I would like to do the same, again to be fair dyson tweeted me back and said I should call the helpline to see if its working properly, I told them I had already done that and they said it ok, I was then told that the motor although being a lower output will not affect the suction, well guess what it does, after I said that they never tweeted back.

If you have not had a DC07 before and you are after a vacuum the 33 model will probably be ok for you but I personally dont like it and will give it to my daughter when she moves into her new place and I will do my homework better before buying a different vac.

Wish I Had Read The Reviews

I agree with almost all the reviewers that this machine is unstable when using the tools, making it a real pain to clean things like stairs and crevices.I think that the power is pretty good but that's about it.Reading the reviews it seems like a waste of time contacting Dyson Not reccommended

Noisy And Tacky

Bought this in a hurry and am regretting it after two days. The piercing whistle is almost unbearable and the rest of the machine has a plasticky cheapness about it that does not bode well for the future. Sucks o.k. but can't use it for more than a few minutes before the noise drives me mad. Dyson should be ashamed of itself. Or find a way of sorting the problem. Last Dyson I will ever buy.

Piercing Whistle

What an infuriating machine. The high pitch whistle from this machine, which Dyson is aware,is unbearable. I suggest Dyson reads these reviews and does something about it.

This is the very last machine I buy from Dyson.
