Store Card Trickster
Homebase card stay clear of they are just tricksters getting more money of you. I paid my bill on time as always but it fell on a bank holiday and they say the payment was one day late reaching them. They charged me £12 for the late payment. But failed to tell me this so three months later a automated voice call to work here anyone could of answered saying they were after me for £36. I called them and paid after some exchanged words. End off NO they charged me again £12 because that wasn't paid on time why didn't they say when I was on the phone to them. Told them take me to court I claim it all back they don't want to talk on the phone unless is card numbers. I loved shopping in homebase I don't any more

Homebase Store Card... No, Total Rip Off!!
I decided to take on the homebase card for all the advantages presented. At no time was I told in the store that you needed to spend £195 to avoid interest (£99 in Argos) so I got charged over £7 for under 150 purchase!!! Then when I received my statement of £323, I noticed another charge of £4.86... An insurance that I was assured (having checked 4 times with the salesman on the phone) that it was free if you paid the full balance (just like a credit card). Complete lie! Managed to get the inisurance cancelled and refunded but not the interest. Paid the full balance and closed the account without delay... I was told you should have read the small print in the booklet of terms and conditions... The customers service man did not even know whether it was in the small print on the back of the statement... RIP OFF, LIARS, never going to shop in homebase again!!
Good for you, but you got me worried enough to check my statements that there was no insurance. These types of insurance are scams and I would always refuse them even if told they are "free".
My idea of insurance is that it should be taken out by the party who stands to lose if something goes wrong. In the case of credit card companies it is they, not you, who stand to lose if you can't pay - so they should be insuring themselves if they really believe that they will face ruin if you can't pay up for your packet of grass seed.
