The Aston Martin Db5 Is Probably The Most Famous C
The Aston Martin DB5 is probably the most famous car in the world. First coming to public attention in the 1964 Bond movie Goldfinger, this work of art is as big a part of Bondmania as Connery himself!
A member of the long running DB series ("DB being the initials of Sir David Brown, one time head-honcho of the company), the DB5 is often referred to as the "James Bond Car" or the "Bondmobile". Few cars become as well known for their nicknames as their official name as the DB5 has become.
Finished in silver birch, two were given for the movie, with one heavily modified. Aston Martin then took them back for promotions, and both examples made many appearances at shows across the world for many, many years.
The DB5 was a stylish machine. It's recessed headlights were modern for the time, lending a streamlined look that set the DB5 apart from its contemporaries. And its lines are timeless, from the slight forward-to-back sloping bodyline to the plunging roof offset by slender, vertical, tail-lamp housings.
All in all, the Aston Martin DB5 is, in the eyes of many, the car that defines British cars, at least the 1960's if not all cars, and long may it stay that way!
