Dyson Dc08. Used For A Number Of Years. Yes It Doe
Dyson DC08. Used for a number of years. Yes it does block up and loose suction, but only if you don't keep the filters clean! On two occasions over the last few years I have completly dismantled the top section to clean the cyclone tubes in water, you will need to do this if cleaning the filters does not work. You need a special screwdriver easily obtainable from hardware store to do this task. Over-all a good cleaner that with the tools provided will clean into the corners if you use the crevis tool.If you are mechanicly minded will last a long (life?) time. If and when this one packs up I will purchase another Dyson.

We Bought Our Dc08 Some Years Ago Now And We Were
We bought our DC08 some years ago now and we were astonded just how much extra it picked up. I hoovered the whole house, which had just been done with our old Henry. I couldn't believe how much it picked up from supposedly clean carpets. The bin does tend to fill up quite quickly, but I suppose this is due to the fact that it picks up so much muck. The filters do need cleaning quite regularly or the performance drops quite noticeibly. My Wife never bothers to clean them, then moans that it's broken.

Again It Speaks For Itself - The Dyson Dc08 Hepa M
Again it speaks for itself - The Dyson DC08 HEPA may be loud etc but what do you expect ? - a hoover that plays a nursery rhyme? - use it and your house will be less contaminated with dust and bacteria plus any other molecules that can lead to allergies

Suction Seemed Powerful When We Bought The Dyson D
Suction seemed powerful when we bought the Dyson DC08 HEPA Filter and with its first use. After that it was rubbish. Now the suction is around 10%. It is heavy. The head is big and useless in corners. The brush traps hair but doesn't suck it up into the hoover. It is the worst hoover I ever bought and I was totally conned by the adverts. I will never buy another Dyson again, ever!

Really This Is A Review Of How Stupid I Am Rather
Really this is a review of how stupid I am rather than the Dyson DC08 HEPA Filter. I had an early Dyson upright. No loss of suction ran the ad. It was forever losing suction. Big and Lumpy and VERY heavy and just try to get it down our stairs. Eventually decided it had to go so looked for another vacuum swearing I would never buy another Dyson. So what did I do - bought another Dyson!!! dugh! A Dc08. Now the ad runs something like - doesn't lose any suction, not a sausage. How does he get away with making these statements! After some months of working fine - plop went the DC08 and down went the suction by a good 50% if not more. Plop? It makes this noise a few seconds after switch on and again at switch off. I have checked every single thing I can think of - nada! A friend said to me before I bought it 'why not buy a Henry' he let me try it and the reason I didn't buy it was because the suction was so strong I could barely move it, it stuck to the floor. These are as cheap as chips and last forever according to every builder I have since talked to about it. My next buy - a HENRY of course. My advice - well I guess its obvious.
just buy a DC-32 animal, or multifloor this is dysons new replacement for the DC-08 and they have put right everything wrong with the DC-08
they even changed the root cyclone with a new core seperator, to capture more microscopic dust
Many, many thanks for this helpful exchange! I too had the "plop" noise, loss of suction etc and hadn't realised you needed to clean the white layer of the filter. I have just done this and like magic my Dyson (6 years old) is just about as good as new and I don't have go to out and buy a new vacuum cleaner. thank you!
Moral of the story: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS - ALL OF THEM!
I found this review very helpful because I am experiencing the same with my DC08 animal cylinder. I have cleaned the filters, I have now recently bought new filters and am hoping that the suction will improve. If not I will have to consider replacing it, but NOT with another DYSON!!!
I found this review not helpful because the user did not read the manual. The manual, and stickers on the unit itself, state that you MUST clean the filter at least every 6 months.
Both the yellow ring with fine medium, as well as the blue foam insert, should be inspected every 4-6 months and washed if soiled. The HOW-TO instructions are printed on the yellow ring so you never have to find the book.
If this is not washed out regularly, it will block all suction, and the bypass valve will actuate with a "click". At that point, most of the air through the motor comes from the small hole on the side of the round, grey, plastic housing that the filters are in.
There is also a HEPA filter in the unit. The lifetime rating of the HEPA filter only applies when used as directed. If the unit has been used to suck up particularly fine material, such as drywall dust, or finer, then some of the dust may get past the primary filters and into the HEPA filter.
As such, the HEPA filter should probably also be inspected every 3-4 years and if soiled, it's better to replace it, just in case.
Based on 30 minutes per session, and 1 session every 2 weeks, we wash the filters every 13-26 hours of use, depending on whether we've had to clean up flour, drywall dust, etc. We go ahead and wash and inspect all of the removable pieces at the same time. A wash session is about 30 minutes. The filters should be allowed to dry for 12 hours before reinstalling into the vacuum (as stated on the filter housing instructions), so we wash in the evening, and reassemble in the morning.
We might be dumb, but we found that the instructions for cleaning the filter are less than adequate. How do we open it in order to remove the filter for washing?
Can you help?

I Used To Own A Miele Vacuum Cleaner And Wanted A
I used to own a Miele vacuum cleaner and wanted a bagless model to replace it. I thought a Dyson DC08 HEPA Filter would be the solution. It's not. Was this machine designed for a 6ft male? It's very unwieldy to use. It's also really noisy and I seem to be emptying it every 5 minutes. I think I really hate it. I also think the bright colours make Dyson's look cheap and nasty even though they are expensive to buy. I won't be recommending them to anyone. Let's hope it breaks down soon so I can buy something else.

I Unfortunately Believed The Hype About The Dyson.
I unfortunately believed the hype about the Dyson. We bought this to replace our £49 Miele vacuum as we had a puppy and wanted to get a powerful hoover for the excess fur problem. The Dyson was not as powerful and extremely cumbersome. What a waste of money. I would not buy another if it was offered at 90% off. I will be selling it to the highest bidder.
I totally endorse everything said by previous reviewers. I even took advantage of a special insurance policy and had a new cyclone fitted and it still conked out the second time I used it. I know Dyson is hitting the USA big time, but I can't see them putting up with this awful vacuum!
