Salute @ The Hotel Victoria, Lowestoft

The Salute Restaurant in Suffolk is in an excellent location with stunning seaviews. It is part of the Hotel Victoria which provides a light modern feel and welcoming staff on arrival.

Well stocked spacious bar which is well laid out and does not look pubby at all.

Nicely laid out menus with ala carte or daily changing set menu (19.95 for three courses)

The food is seasonal so one would imagine it changes regulary.

The seasonal ala carte offers local seafood salads and steaks whilst the set menu offers more of a variety.

Fresh warm rolls delivered to our table when we were shown through to stare at the rolling seas over Lowestofts Blue flag sandy beaches.

Good selection of Scottish Angus steaks on the ala carte menu which were tasty and well cooked. My partner had one of thier large salute salads which was crammed full of tasty delights.

All desserts are home made and well balanced with tempting flavours.

After dinner coffee - not included in price - is a choice of freshly made Italian cappucinos lattes or other varieties with little chocolate biscuits etc.

Their local ale was Adnams - not my cup of teas but seems to prove popular with the locals. They do have a good selection of continental bottled beers and Stella on tap.

On the whole we found it to be one of the best restaurants in Lowestoft, it is a little distance from the main town centre but it is worth a visit just for the view if not the Steaks!

One of the best things about the whole visit was the toilets- We were plesenly suprised to find that they had been refurbished to a very high standard - the Gents were very clean and had automatic taps and paper towel dispensers my partner informs me that the ladies are the same. Very Good!

There is also excellent access for people with disabilities.
