End Of June 2023
We arrived at the camp site on the 26th June 2023 for my daughters 30th birthday. Found our caravan there was at least 25 cigarettes at the bottom step took photos. Inside the caravan the living room was stinking of cigarettes. Iv never smoked neither has my daughter, we had my grandchildren 6yr,4yr 2yr and 1yr olds never been in a smokey atmosphere. Went straight to reception was closed but I knocked till they opened asked for a different caravan was told there were none available that the staff would clean the outside and put a bomb smelly thing in the van we couldn't go in for 30 minutes. Every day we bleached the units and tables, cleaning everything but could still smell smoke. Went for meals in the evening a lot was off the menu 2 times complained so didn't go back. The children's playpark was filled with cigarettes not clean at all. This was my second holiday there this year I have booked another 2 but don't think I could go back. Very upset as this could be a great place for a holiday same on Setonsands.

Holiday Park From Hell
Told to get keys from Showbar, when I asked the Bar Manager, he was so rude and told me to wait until he had served the queue which trailed out of the door and around the complex, one hour later, I had to prompt him, again, he was not happy. One of the owners was also trying to order a drink, as he said, no one serves in the owners lounge. Later on that evening I met the same owner, and found out about the park, chapter and verse. Most of the owners are trying to move from the park, due to years of bad service and rip off site fees. Our caravan was stinking and the bar staff, if you could take them away from their mobile phones were RUDE. The food was overpriced and appalling. The muppets kept trying to sell us a caravan, but having heard from a number of owners.....KEEP AWAY.The entertainment was rubbish, I cut short our holiday. Be aware this park stinks.
Stayed Midweek In June 2010. Caravan Not Really U
Stayed midweek in June 2010. Caravan not really up to Prestige standard of others i've stayed in, but it did the job. Park ok, entertainment really amateur and music 20 yrs out of date. fish and chip shop fairly expensive but okay if you're desperate.
Really disappointed with the area in general - near a power station, everything quite industrial. The beach across the road from the park is NOT a nice sandy beach as you are made to believe, its rocky and dirty - we had to go to North Berwick beach to get the kids bucket and spades out. Nowhere nice to eat out on a night - no pubs or restuarants nearby - dingy pub and rough looking chinese in Cockenzie!!!!
Not a patch on Lakeland where we went last year :(
June 2010 - Seton Sands - Just Got Back From A 4 D
June 2010 - Seton Sands - just got back from a 4 day break in a Prestige Caravan. Actually it was only a 3 day break as we came home early.
Can't blame Haven for the weather which was awful, however........
a - first impressions important eh ! The security guard who leaned into our car on arrival must have been cold also as he was stinking of booze, not ideal.
b - the van smelt of stale cigarettes
c - as is always the case with Haven, the food odours really are bad - a stale lingering greasy smell in the air (inside and out). We never touch the stuff, as provided, but since we were located next to the site chippy it was extra special.
d - it was freezing at night and in the morning - the heating and insulation totally inadequate. Curtains basically like tissue paper - my wife found a peg back and hung towels across the bedroom window to try and eliminate the lights outside.
e - noise - vans and tractors tooing and froing all night long.
f - matresses awful - like sleeping on a thin layer of cloth over springs
g - pool activities a rip off
We are not Haven virgins and know the basic form, however, I think this was the worst of about 4-5 such breaks we have had over the years and i think now draws a line under any future ones.
Trying to be positive, the pool and bar area basically ok, prices 'normal.'Recommend if you do come here and want to go into the city to drive to Newcraighall P&R (50p to park for the day) and then train in - cost us £6-7 rtn for 2 adults one child - watch the return times tho.
First Time Visitor To A Haven Resort, Arrived At 4
First time visitor to a haven resort, arrived at 4pm to check in, we were given a number to go to the showbar to recieve out caravan keys, poor check in were treated like cattle, would be much better having a 1-1 personal check in. Caravan had no cleaning items ie hoover, dustpan brush, caravan was clean but smelt damp, main complex was a disgrace, no soap in any of the toilets, ladies, mens or disabled toilets. hand dryers did not work either.. general place was dirty. walkway from the main complex to the spar shop was disgusting, litter everywhere.
headed across to the beach this was even worse.!! covered with litter, not very attractive.. best to head to north berwick beached are superb, much better for children.
Would not recommend seton sands to anyone.. Very disappointed would not return..
I found this review very helpful because... I was thinking of taking my grandchildren there for a summer break and going to Edinburgh Zoo whilst there, I think I will look elsewhere now. Thanks.
Seton Sands Caravan Park. Strengths: Nice And
Seton Sands Caravan Park.
Strengths: nice and clean caravan.
Weaknesses: very limited activities and entertainment for children and adults. Very little included in the price, big money needs to be spent for children/adults activities. Cleanliness very poor all over the facilities e.g. toilets, tables/floor in bar, swimming pool. Bar closed after 11 pm during the week. Under 18 being served alcohol in Showbar. Children getting upset as not enough spaces in the swimming pool for them when wanted. No recycle facilities.
I would have liked to know what I know now about the place before I made my purchase. I expected much more from the Park for my family holidays.
First Visit To Scotland And First Haven Holiday. T
First visit to Scotland and first Haven holiday. There were two of us and the caravan was a pleasant surprise. Very nice, spacious, interior looked fairly new and clean. I couldn't say if our caravan was the same as all the others, or if we'd got lucky, but ours was the basic and in very good condition. A few items were missing from inventory, so after contacting reception, within 20 minutes a lady came round and issued us with the missing items. Nice laundered sheets, mattresses and pillows were in reasonable condition. We had no problem with noise, from entertainments or people. We went during May if that made any difference. The beach is as described in the brochure. Great for walking along, kite-flying which we did, and walking the dogs.
The biggest downside was the expense. We had to purchase the leisure pass in advance which was steep. We had no need for it, as we wanted basic accommodation so as to tour Edinburgh, etc. The evening bingo was about the same cost as a big name Bingo place, but the prize money was a pittance. The chippie on-site was incredibly pricey. Two chips and curry sauce nearly £6!! Seton Sands and beyond is quite expensive. The nearest supermarket down the road is Co-op and very expensive! I'd recommend going a lot further on towards Morrisons. We didn't participate with the on-site nightlife/disco so cannot comment on that. I would recommend this resort, though with some reservation, i.e. save up plenty of spending money. So to summarise:
Good: Comfortable basic with all mod-cons caravan, tidy site, access to big bins, friendly staff, quiet location, regular buses to Edinburgh, clean beach
Bad: Expect to be stung highly all directions for on-site facilities
What A Terrible Excuse Of A Holiday This Was. The
What a terrible excuse of a holiday this was. The caravan was smelly and damp. We were't given anything to clean it with, bar a dust pan and brush, a broken mop and a head of a brush. We complained to reception who promised to send a cleaner and explained that you basically get what you're given. Cleaner never turned up. The complex was laid out so you had to pass the amusement arcade everytime you went to the bar/restaurant/swimming pool. It really is a dump. Please don't risk your bank account/sanity with Seton Sands. Never again.
After A 4 Hour Drive To Scotland With Two Screamin
After a 4 hour drive to scotland with two screaming excited kids and a chance to catch up with my best friend and with out our husbands.we were worrying about putting our tent up ,we arrived at Seton Sands to a warm welcome from staff. The manager of the camping field straight away with out asking helped us put up the tent(thank god). The scenery was beautiful as you got a seafront image of the beach.Small camping field where everyone was friendly.the shower and toilet block was acceptable in bad weather gets muddy but cleaners came twice a day.outdoor park was fantastic my 6 and 11 year old enjoyed it. The funhouse pantomine was brilliant worth coming to see. the amusement is large and children win tickets and save them up in return for a prize. The park was central to all tourist attractions and the bus arrived every 20 mins and was exremely cheap.the swimming pool was a bit disappointing because of its small capacity but fab indoor wave and slide pool in dunbar (children free during summer period). overall the campsite is worth staying at.
Just Spent A Week At At Seton Sands And Wished I H
Just spent a week at at Seton Sands and wished i hadnt. My main moan is regarding the restaurant/cafe staff and food. It was woefully understaffed, and the staff clearly hadnt heard of health and safety. Our first complaint was dismissed with "Its not my department". The second complaint about the food quality was a shrug of the shoulders. We will not be going back and if you have any standards of food hygiene, i woulod suggest you dont either.
