Parkdean, Sundrum Castle Holiday Park, Ayr

just back home today after our 4th stay at sundrum in our tourer. won't be back! kept awake by a drunken rabble in another van until half past one in the morning. when we phoned security it was on answer phone so we had to listen to the noise along with our 3 year old grandchild who was petrified.

the standard of cleanliness in the toilets and showers has fallen in the last 2 years. i think that 30 pounds for a simple hard standing pitch is a bit much, we could have went to a super pitch elsewhere for the same money and might have got a decent nights sleep as well.

We booked into Sundrum Castle for four days in our touring caravan with our two sons age five and baby age seven weeks. We found the security of our children paramount and the playground area is easy viewed from the Bar/eating area . There was also security doing there walks giving added protection.The entertainment was first class with many programmes for the kids to keep them out of your pockets for cash for a while. There was some great live bands etc for adults. We found the restaurant to be reasonably priced and well stocked shop ,there is also a chip shop that we did not use. Toilets and showers were spotless as was the rest of the park. I cant recommend this park highly enough great wee holiday and cant wait to get back to sundrum castle. five Star *****

Have been going to Sundrum Castle now since 2007 and thoroughly enjoy it. The site is clean and very child friendly. The entertainment and restaurant/bar staff are always helpful and pleasant. The kids entertainment could perhaps vary a little more and be reviewed according to ages. However on the whole its excellent value for money. Been 3 times this year and will be back during October break. Age range of kids in family 5 up to 14

We have been going to Sundrum now for about three years and love it. It is nice and clean and it is not full of rowdy people . The entertaintment is okay but my daughter would rather play in the park which you can sit outside and watch them while you have a coffee or a drink. The food is reasonable priced and the whole park is very relaxing.

I have never had a problem and the staff are pleasant.

The only down side is that you only get in the pool for an hour at time and they are scheduled times e.g 9 till 10 and closes for lunch.

They could also do with an extra washing machine as there is only two and these are always being used.

If you want something really lively then this is not the place for you but if you want it relaxing and chilled then book it.

There is only about 90 caravans in the park so it is not to big.

Been going to Sundrum for a few years now. Very disappointed this time round and have seen it deteriorate over the years as they say they are putting in money into the site!! From a parent's point of view- caravan fine no problem. Clean, standard caravan. Swimming pool ok and play park nice.

After 'touring' other sites and comparing them, Sundrum entertainment for kids is not good. Staff gave impression they couldn't be bothered with the kids- rarely came out as the 'fun characters',activities were not as planned and some spent the time talking to child minder who wasn't on site who brought her squad of kids!!!! Sadly, will not be returning as entertainment is crucial for 6 and 4 year olds. Not expecting 5 star treatment but 1 star would be nice!Been to other parkdean hols which are worlds apart.

Parkdean, Sundrum Castle Holiday Park, Ayr is a great caravan for a relaxing week.. to be honest there wasnt a lot to do.. the usual pool etc but its very close to ayr town centre where theres lots to do, beach, farm park, shops, pubs & nite clubs! something for everyone.
