Don't Book With This Company!!!
Hired a car that was supposed to cost €156 for two weeks with an excess of €1600 if anything happened to the car. That is what I booked and paid a deposit for online. Should have known it was too good to be true. When I got to Europcar it ended up costing me over €500 plus €250 deposit because I had a debit card instead of a credit card. Told me they were making "an exception" for me to still book it on my debit card. Due to living over two hours away from the airport and spending 20 hours on a flight I wasn't in a position to argue or cancel it. Also, booked a Ford Fiesta and ended up getting a Seat. When I asked about it I was told I booked an economy car. I booked a Ford Fiesta it's on my booking form. Never again!

Thiefs
Seems a good deal, cheaper than competitors but with the mandatory insurance (and you cannot know it's price before as the checkbox is just not working on their website), the price more than double and get far more expensive the other ones. Avoid them they are just not honest.

Rip Off Merchants
We booked a hire car through this website which we picked up at Knock Airport, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Upon arriving I was told I had to pay for compulsory insurances - CDW and Theft insurance. These apparently could have been selected on their site however at no time did the site mention these insurances were COMPULSORY. As it turns out we were charged 470 euro when after discussions with the Europcar representative at the airport was informed I could have hired the same car directly through Europcar - including all insurances and an extra driver - for 300 euro. I then asked if I could cancel the Irish Car Rentals booking and book directly but was told there was nothing to do now and I had to pay the grossly inflated insurance charges. I myself then searched on Europcar's website for a car of similar size and duration of hire and this confirmed we would only be charged 300.51 Euro.
This company should be reported to whatever the consumer commission is in Ireland. Do not use them. They grossly overcharge

Europcar Ireland And Irish Car Rentals The Company
Europcar Ireland and Irish Car Rentals the company that has the franchise don't even deserve a rating. My wife rented a car twice in 2010, First of all she was charged for crossing the M50 toll and the toll company proved she never did. Then they insisted on her buying car hire excess insurance for '54 when she told them that she had bought a policy via www.insurance4carrental.com They refused to refund her even though she declined it, but had made her sign for it regardless. Their check in staff are most offhand and we will never use Europcar Ireland again whilst Irish Car Rentals has the franchise. They add on extra charges for collecting the car from the airport and taking a car to Northern Ireland. They also want you to leave it without fuel so they can charge more for refuelling. Never go to Irish Car Rentals when you hire a car in Ireland
I tried to book car hire for my wife in Dublin on the 19th February 2011, unfortunately the international car hire broker's choice was Europcar Ireland / Irish Car Rentals, as I have had previous bad experiences outlined on this site would not go ahead with it. I thought I would try 353 Car Rental in Ireland. Rented from them over a year ago and were very good.
Their online system took the booking and payment OK.
An acknowledgement came by email saying there would be an additional 28 Euros airport fee and this concerned me as it was not included in the original quote. As my wife was actually in Dublin and wanted to collect the car within a couple of hours I tried phoning the number on the site. I eventually got through and was answered by a gentleman saying he was speaking from Europcar Ireland. I replied you mean Irish Car Rentals, I said I had booked a car via 353 Car rental 20 minutes earlier and wanted to know where to collect it from and he said 353 was no longer in business.
I found another number on line and was told that Irish Car rentals was now looking after 353 car rental's business. You could tell they were adding hidden charges for airport fees!!
I explained I did not want to rent from Irish Car Rentals / Europcar Ireland because of past problems being sold car hire excess insurance my wife had declined. Eventually I spoke to someone at their head office and they told me the transaction was cancelled which I hope it is?
In the end a car was booked through Hertz who were very good. It is all wrong that the 353 car rental website is still running and they are taking bookings if the company is not. They should be made to take it down by the appropriate Irish authorities or explain on the site in a prominent way that Irish Car Rentals are handling their business.

These Guys Are Schisters. The Price You
These guys are schisters.
The price you see on the website is half what you should expect to pay.
They stiff you any way they can, provided they can hide it.
I ended up paying a fee for declining their CDW insurance - no way I could avoid it.
I also ended up getting stiffed on petrol, even though I returned it full.
And beware when you pick up the car - mine had 90k on the clock and not a single scratch mentioned on the condition sheet. It took me a good 10 minutes to make sure every scratch was recorded.
And lastly - this one at least not their fault - all of the Dublin airport car hire is a 15 minute drive from the airport in the courtesy bus. So figure this into you plans....
To conclude, do not touch these guys (or Nova Car hire where I got quote from) with a bargepole.

Hired an economy model for 24 hrs.
I declined the extra excess insurance at E15, I was then told that E1200 would be held against my credit card which is standard practise BUT at a charge of E9!!
On questioning why I was being charged E9 I was informed this was due to credit card company charges. I hire cars at least monthly and have never been charged for declining insurance.
I rang the company head office later who confirmed this is a new extra charge.
I however had no problems with the car, fuelling policies or any other extra charges.

Good - Nothing! If You Want To Get Into Trouble Of
Good - Nothing! If you want to get into trouble of hidden charges, rip-off toll & charges then go ahead with Irish Car Rentals.
Bad - Everything right from the customer service, credit card charges, administration charges and is endless. They cleverly cheat customers while booking showing just rental & location charges. But they put others charges in small print in terms & conditions which opens up only when you click. M50 Toll being charged each time is 4.93 euros which is double the original charges.Simply everything is a total rip-off. Please avoid unless you want to buy grief at your own cost. It is Honest WARNING!!

Beware Of This Company! Don't Get Carried Away By
Beware of this company! Don't get carried away by the price you see while booking. Apart from their administration charges & location charges, their Booking system has hidden costs in small prints in "terms and conditions" which will be applied when you collect the vehicle. But they have cleverly classified it under "Additional Charges (which may apply)" - they apply vehicle licensing fee per day, transaction fee, environmental charges etc Final bill was a shock to me. Customer Service is not good. We took Opel Zafira & got boot opening problem and eventually we lost a day on our trip before getting a replacement car. I would strongly advice to try some other car rental company.

We Have Had Nothing But Trouble With Irish Car Ren
We have had nothing but trouble with Irish Car Rentals - dont go anywhere near them. We picked a car up in Dublin and dropped it at Shannon Airport. The service on both ends was TERRIBLE and we were originally given a totally trashed car - I stormed back to the office and complained very loudly until they gave us a better car. We also had very strange charges put onto our card and they even tried to charge us for an extra day - we've had to fight tooth and nail to get our money refunded. They also sold us insurance we didnt need and when we complained they told us it was tough luck. I would NOT recommend them.
