Pmt - You've Lost My Custom
I will start by mentioning I have shopped at PMT Birmingham for over 15 years and that experience has always been good.
My issue is with the so called "Customer care" department.
I purchased two PA speakers last July. I hadn't used them until a few months ago, due to my old band folding.
I have been using them recently, once a week, for an open mic night.
I noticed cracks forming around the side handle of the speaker. As they still under warranty, I contacted customer care and sent photos. The side of the speaker then came away from the rest of the plastic.
To cut a long story short, I was refused any form of exchange and I was told the side has been pushed in. and It has been dropped
I said neither had happened and how/why would I push the side of the speaker in? I need the speakers for my open mic, how would it benefit me to damage them?
I then asked to be given contact details to raise a complaint. I was then contacted by the customer services manager, who clearly had not read my previous emails to her colleagues and her response was the same. Not covered under warranty.
It looked like most of her response was copied and pasted.
I stated my displeasure at her response, and that she had not discussed the matter with me.
This morning, her response is the same. PMT will not be exchanging my speaker for me.
I did explain that I have spent thousands of pounds over the years at PMT. I guess around 3.5k when I total it up.
Still the same response. I'm left with a speaker that cost me £220 that is clearly faulty.
I will no longer shop at any PMT store, and I will advise any fellow/budding musicians not to either.

Bought New Received Shop Display Item
I would be careful with this company. Ordered a new guitar online and they posted an ex display in the wrong box with used batteries and strings.
Their customer service couldn’t care less.

Sadly Item Description Not Trustworthy Customer Service Poor
Boss RT20 pedal from their eBay store described as: "in great condition, with some surface wear, includes original packaging".
The pedal arrived in bubble wrap, with a hole drilled in the base and screws missing, it's obviously been messed around with.
2 weeks, still I have no refund and have been really messed about getting the the item back to them and generally inconvenienced by PMT.
ALL avoidable of course if they actually took time sell items properly described. this item should never have been listed, who knows whats gone on with a pedal with a holed drilled in it and with screws missing.

Extremely Bad Service
Ordered packs of Auralex Acoustic Floor floating rubber which where available on on the website and ready to be delivered in 5 working days. I rented a section of a warehouse to build my studios and ordered few thousand pounds of material.. the Auralex arrived after 3 bloody months!!!!! I chased them up through customer service and there was no chance to get them, i've spent thousands of pounds in rent without being able to build the rooms and they where just saying sorry and keeping me on hold as they said they where coming in 2 weeks... This is just rubbish!! I will never use this shop anymore and i will make sure everyone i know won't either. This happened years ago, i just found some time to write the review.

Trust Issue
This is a trust issue, afterall I want to be able to fully trust the staff and their honesty. This may seem as a small issue but its the principal.
I have always promoted and loved PMT in Nottingham, my late husband and I have always shopped in there, staff were great, however I'm rather upset and concerned for the following reason.
I popped in today 22nd Aug 20 to replace a broken peg on my special addition guitar and also return a packet of string unopened, as found i was not so keen on their tone, I had bought two sets. Anyway the returned ones cost me 16.99 and were replaced with Martin custom 11.5 silk & steel MA130, I asked what was the price difference and was told it was the same cost. On arriving at home I went on to PMT website and saw them at 9.99, and many other sites all costing between 7.99 sand 9.99.Needless to say I rang the shop and spoke with the same young man, he informed me that the price had "just" gone down and that was not unusual , he refunded the 6.99 to my account without any problem. My real concern here is on research I could not find anywhere these string at 16.99 not even a couple months back so the big question! is can I trust PMT again? I would like to think this was a one off. It will take me some time, if ever, to regain my faith in them again, although in the past we could never fault them but this!!
Update. refund came though but with a note saying it was a systems error!! make up your minds, reduced as originally told when challenged or now systems error! Get your story right, as your just digging a bigger hole! Yes, I'm somewhat cross.
This is a good example of PMT's service IMO, I won't shop there ever again, their staff is incompetent, not experts, Regardless of what they tell you... and don't give a damn about your equipment, the shop's demo equipment gets sold to you as new! most of the gear on sale is used, either by staff or the public, even the stuff you buy online... You were lucky to get your money back and well done for following it up!

Next Day Delivery If Ordering Before 3pm On A Saturday ?
I decided to learn the piano and chose to buy a Korg B2 white keyboard as it seemed to be ideal for my needs.
The price was marked at £360 on Amazon shopping online and available for next day delivery.
I saw it was also available to order through the PMT website at the same price. So PMT being a specialist music business, I decided to order from them.
I ordered the Korg on Saturday 7th March 2020 but it had already gone 3pm so I didn’t expect a delivery until Tuesday 10th March at the earliest.
It was then everything started to go wrong with a lack of communication followed by them telling me the only one they had in stock had been a demo model and they were expecting a delivery from their supplier any day now. We then hit the current problem of the Wuhan virus causing disruption with their showrooms and shops being closed until further notice. A couple of emails have been responded to since but without any clear indication of whether my keyboard will be delivered or not. So having paid in full the £360 and it is now the middle of April I feel more than let down and the biggest mistake I made was not going ahead with a purchase from Amazon.. I could have been practising during this lockdown.
I can’t blame anyone in PMT for the virus but the lack of good honest communication baffles me. If you can’t do it then say so !!!

Worst Shop Worldwide.
Purchased an amp which when delivered was faulty.
Was collected and returned to shop.
Took a month to get replacement which became faulty after a few weeks.
This was sent to manufacture for repair and came back fine.
Few months later same fault returned so it was sent for repair.
Came back from repair within 48 hours and was still faulty.
PMT claimed fault was normal, but an independent amp tech who see video of fault said it's not normal.
PMT still claimed it's normal.
After contacting trading standards PMT agreed to give me a new, sealed box amp.
When it arrived the box wasn't sealed and label on box was torn off but I could read some which stated it was a different model to what I had.
Upon opening box there was no cables or manual as a new amp has and trying amp this one was also faulty and tubes were worn out.
Looking inside thru backplate it was covered in dust so clearly a ex demo model that's been in a dusty shop and use lots to burn out tubes.
PMT claim they opened a new sealed box to test amp, if so whys it not original box with cables and manual!
They also say faults are normal and it's end of story from their end, so I've wasted £1,429.
Trading standards and my solicitor have been informed about my order and the staff at shop.
Don't buy anything from PMT!
If it's faulty your won't get any help.

The Worst Online Trader I Have Dealt With
I bought Shure 315 headphones which were of sub-standard sound quality compared to my old Shure 215s. Being aware of the hygiene issues, I tested them using my own earbuds (from my 215s).I informed the trader that I wished to return them for a refund highlighting the fact that I had not compromised the hygiene issue. The trader referred me to their terms & conditions regarding the sealed earbuds supplied with the device and that since I had tested them they would not agree to a refund ignoring the fact that I had used my own earbuds. PMT are clearly desperate to secure a sale at every turn and care nothing about their customers.
Reagrdless.....
The Consumer Contracts Regulations gives you a cancellation period that starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive your goods.
You then have a further 14 days from the date you notify the retailer that you'd like to cancel your order to return the goods to them.

Zero Communication Or Interest
Ordered an alesis drum kit. Got an email telling me they had to order it in (no stock.. Shock).
Heard nothing from them again.
Called them after 5 days and was told I'd get an email with an update. 2 days later nothing.
Called today and cancelled order. The guy wasn't even bothered or apologetic.
Never use them again. An exciting experience ruined.
